Latest switcher patches, bugfix.
I've attatched a patch to fix a bug in the latest switcher patches that got put into CVS. Basically, window order with minimized windows is undefined, and this fixes it. Also, I notice that in some cases switcher fails to get an icon for a window. Perhaps the icon code is forcing a search for a specific size, rather than 'best-fit'? Also, the patch allows usage of alt+shift+tab (in

Fw: patch for colored drop-shadow
I just realized this message went to the wrong place. I meant to send this to the list. Also, I want to clarify, I don't intend to offend or upset anyone, obviously I love the work that is happening on compiz, I am merely trying to help. [PATCH] Implement window zoomin/zoomout on create/unmap
This patch makes windows zoom in and out of a zero point on create/unmap. I've cleaned up the formatting/style to be consistent with the rest of compiz (eg adding spaces around operators, tabifying, using C style comments). This patch could use some more work. It should only apply to decorated toplevels, but right now it also affects XUL menus (I guess because they are not unmanaged like

A little patch to make scale's show-desktop behaviour optional
This particular behaviour drives me nuts, its so easy to accidentally click on desktop during scale and then all of your windows get minimized, which is no fun. This little patch just makes this optional, leaving the default to be the normal behaviour. -------------- next part --------------

more cubes and 3d metaphoric objects...
hi how about having more cubes to fly around in 3d space. though at first thought this might appear unessacary as who needs so many desktops? So i thought, why not have special cubes (as well as the original cube of course) and these special cubes, instead of cubes, be 3d metaphric objects for specific tasks such as a radio, or ipod or whatever for music a cinema for movies arcade thingo for

Interested in testing the upcoming 0.9.x branch? Help us with some testing!
Hi everyone, If people have the time, can they test the master branch of compiz (upcoming 0.9.x) and fill out this form (hopefully included in the email!) to let me know of any bugs? Thanks a billion! You don't have to fill out all the questions in this questionnaire - I would understand if you are limited by time. You also don't need to tell me anything you don't want to

the 'copula' package
Is anybody using the Copula package in R? The particular problem I'm facing is that R is not acknowledging the fitCopula command/function when I load the package and (try to) run something very simple: fit1 <- fitCopula(x1 = list(u11,u12,u13,u14,u15,u16,u17,u18), tCopula, optim.control = list(NULL), method = "BFGS") Anybody also using it, successfully or unsuccessfully?

New Action system
It seems, and I might just have a weird system, but I doubt it, that the new Action system in compiz git head is a bit weird. On a clean install, not only do options like "resize_initiate_bell" show up in gconf, but the actual action binding options don't work. For example I can't set resize_initiate_button to anything but its default (the key changes in gconf, but resize

Beryl and Compiz Merge: What's actually going on?
Compiz and Beryl merge: What's really going on? Recently Quinns post to the beryl-dev mailing list entitled 'Merge on' has led to a lot of discussion, some of which has been good and some of which has led to a lot of misinformation, to clear things up I'd like to give the story of the merge, and the justification for some of the more peculiar aspects. Basically lets try to avoid

How do I join a samba 3 client to a samba 4 AD server?
Hi, I have set up a standard samba4 server via http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO and have tested that windows machines can join the samba4 AD. Now I am trying to join an Ubuntu machine to the same samba4 ad but it is failing for me with the following message: # net ADS JOIN -U Administrator Enter Administrator's password: Failed to join domain: failed to lookup DC info for domain

New automated Capistrano setup for Apache2.1+ and mongrel_cluster
Hi mongrel users! I just posted a bad-ass capistrano file that automates *everything* for setting up an apache2+mod_proxy_balancer and mongrel+mongrel_cluster -- including apache2 setups. It''s based off Coda Hale''s guide and all Bradley''s work at fluxura and RailsMachine (thanks Coda and Bradley!). It''s, well, bad-ass, if I must say so myself. My favorite

How do I get an ssh client to authenticate with samba4's kerberos GSSAPI? [Solved]
Hi, I solved my ssh GSSAPI problem. There were a lot of solutions on google referring to a proper fqdn in the /etc/hosts file and having the fqdn's/principals in the kerberos server's keytab file but I found out that my problem was that the samba4/kerberos server was running on a multi-homed machine and that the ssh server kerberos authentication needed the following parameter in order

Active Record and Postgres table inheritance?
Active Record doesn''t appear to have support for table inheritance implemented in PostgreSQL as described in http://www.postgresql.org/docs/8.0/interactive/ddl-inherit.html. Is anyone working on such a thing or is their some compelling reason to avoid this feature? I am new to Ruby and Rails, but it doesn''t seem like it would be to difficult to adapt the current Active

Discussion about Compiz and working togeher
I would like to get a better understanding as to why Quinn's patches have not been accepted into the compiz git tree. I feel Quinn's patches could greatly improve compiz. She has made quite a lot of progress wrt to enhancing compiz with her cgwd window decorator which allows users to write their own themes for window decorations. Also, many of the plugins that are in compiz.net are MIT

Server entering Emergency Shell, but continues fine after pressing Enter
Hello all, I've got an odd problem that doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere. I have several identical CentOS 7 servers (GCE instances). I recently ran `yum update` and rebooted all of them. All the servers came back fine except one. I opened a connection to the serial console of the broken server, and was greeted with this prompt: ? Cannot open access to console, the root

splitting services in samba4
Question: Right now samba4 is great as in all-in-one solution (samba, kerberos, ldap, dns) into one service. Is it possible to split it up so that for example, I run openldap on one server, kerberos on another server, and then dns/samba on a third server? br, Quinn

Passing colnames to graphics title
Hi, Just a quick query - if I'm creating a function to produce a number of histograms per page of output (one per column from a matrix), how can I pass the column name of the matrix into the title (or indeed to form part of the x-axis label)? TIA, Laura Laura Quinn Institute of Atmospheric Science School of Earth and Environment University of Leeds Leeds LS2 9JT tel: +44 113 343 1596 fax:

White Noise
I'm wanting to create a series of near-identical matrices via the addition of "white noise" to my starting matrix. Is there a function within R which will allow me to do this?
