A Ruby/Rails bibliography
Howdy all, I''ve noticed an influx of "What book should I buy?" questions lately, so I thought I''d put together a number of bibliographies/curriculums based on experience, role, and so on. You can view them at: http://blog.mrneighborly.com/2007/10/ruby-and-rails-bibliography-of-sorts.html I want this to be a resource to point people to, so if one of these becomes out

Branchable migrations -- A plugin to let you organize your migrations
I just put a new plugin named branchable_migrations on Github. Branchable migrations lets you separate your migrations into "branches" (i.e., a director under db/migrate) that each have their own version. Using the forthcoming UTC timestamped migrations and this plugin, you can separate migrations by table or feature. Doing so should alleviate many of the problems that seem to pike up

Keeping Camping going
Hello all, I''m not sure who Camping''s steward is at this point(zimbatm? _why?), but I haven''t seen much activity in quite some time. I really like Camping, and I understand open source projects can fall by the wayside. So, I''d be willing to take over maintenance and releasing. I have experience maintaining my own open source projects, and a history of

With the help of the Ruport community, we''ve refined the book over the last few weeks to meet the needs of our users. We think it will be a great help to anyone trying to learn how to do reporting in Ruby / Rails using

Reporting with Rails
Hi all, I was wondering how you guys generate reports from rails. I want to generate business reports in pdf format, and was wondering what you guys use. I have searched the web and found Ruport, but there isn''t much documentation or examples of real world business reports like jasperreports, for instance. Is it possible to generate good looking business reports with ruport? What other

Ruport Day
Here''s an idea we might want to look at just after we do the alpha release: http://ruport.infogami.com/RuportDay2006 The basic premise is 24 hours of testing, debugging and coding focused on one app. They announced to the ruby mailing lists and have prizes they arranged (Could we get a sponsor? I don''t know.) Personally, I think prize money opens a can of worms. But a

Convert string for expression in plot
Hi, Although I understand how to use expression and paste to add superscripts and symbols to my graphs, I have a problem with adding superscripts to an existing string. For example, I read in the following from a separate file: 25Mg(p,g) I want to convert that to superscripts etc. (in LaTex format): $^{25}$Mg(p,$\gamma$) This needs to then be put into a graph title. Any ideas? I know that I

Asterisk Gurus - What is your best Asterisk Queue Analyzer and Asterisk Log Analyzer program out there?
Hi Guys, I seem to not be able to find any good open source Asterisk Queue Analyzer and Asterisk Log Analyzer on the web. The Asterisk Queue Analyzer is to serve as the graphic tool for call center or pbx admins. It will pull the info in queue.log and in MySQL asterisk CDR to create a graphic bar or to report on each extension that received the queue calls, etc... The Asterisk Log Analyzer is

TeensyWeb 0.1.0 released
TeensyWeb 0.1.0 has been released. The is a combination wiki, forums, and subversion repository browser. It''s simplistic. Nothing fancy. Possibly buggy and broken as it''s my first rails app. It requires rails, bluecloth, syntax be installed, which you can get from gems. In order to use subversion and graphwiz you must have those installed and the commands accessible from
