Hello all, I''m not sure who Camping''s steward is at this point(zimbatm? _why?), but I haven''t seen much activity in quite some time. I really like Camping, and I understand open source projects can fall by the wayside. So, I''d be willing to take over maintenance and releasing. I have experience maintaining my own open source projects, and a history of contributions to other projects such as Rails. I''m familiar with the OSS process and can (hopefully) keep Camping going. If that''s not acceptable, then I''d like a commit bit at least so I can push some patches in, take care of some tickets, and add some improvements. I''d hate to see Camping die a slow, lingering death in the woods because no one came to look for it. --Jeremy -- http://www.jeremymcanally.com/ My books: Ruby in Practice http://www.manning.com/mcanally/ My free Ruby e-book http://www.humblelittlerubybook.com/ My blogs: http://www.mrneighborly.com/ http://www.rubyinpractice.com/

Yes, lets keep Camping moving on. Feeling very confortable in it. Received "Nobody knows Shoes" yesterday. So wonderfuly odd :) I wonder if Mr. _Why can take some time for a Camping book too from Lulu... What a nice collection it would be. (I think I saw some S. Lem books on the shelf) -- pedro mg On 1/11/08, why the lucky stiff <why at whytheluckystiff.net> wrote:> > On Wed, Jan 09, 2008 at 11:29:17PM -0500, Jeremy McAnally wrote: > > If that''s not acceptable, then I''d like a commit bit at least so I can > > Yes, sure, anyone who has a trac account is also granted commit > rights for all of my projects. Hello Campers If anyone is doing requests - I would like to see couchdb and YUI in the camping ablution facilities - as for shoes, they should be comfortable and easy to take off Peter On 11/01/2008, pedro mg <seti at tquadrado.com> wrote:> > Yes, lets keep Camping moving on. I managed to do some cleanup but then got stuck for some reasons. At last, you are welcome to kick in :) Why not start by fixing some open ticket ? I was thinking of dropping the fastcgi support but if you wish to make it work it would be a great start. Another part that could be fixed, is the Session support. Dig in the list archive for some discussions around it. Have fun, zimbatm
Can''t we get a bugfix release first? It doesn''t make sense to continue fixing things in SVN if people are still struggling with 1.5 bugs. Definitely. I''ve had a lot of people contact me asking questions about errors and issues with content from my presentation or from conversations with them when really the only issue was that they were on 1.5 and needed to be on trunk. A bugfix release should be top priority right now, methinks. So, er, +1. ;) --Jeremy On Jan 12, 2008 7:57 PM, Evan Weaver <evan at cloudbur.st> wrote:> Can''t we get a bugfix release first? > > It doesn''t make sense to continue fixing things in SVN if people are > still struggling with 1.5 bugs. > > Evan > > > On Jan 12, 2008 6:15 PM, Jonas Pfenniger <zimbatm at oree.ch> wrote: > > 2008/1/10, Jeremy McAnally <jeremymcanally at gmail.com>: > > > I''m not sure who Camping''s steward is at this point(zimbatm? _why?), > > > but I haven''t seen much activity in quite some time. Hmm yes the direct FastCGI support could be supplanted by making sure we have a solid and tested Rack adapter. That way they still get the FastCGI support but we don''t have to maintain all the evil parts of it. I''ll look through the list and see what I can do. Hopefully I''ll have some time to spend fixing some tickets this week. :) --Jeremy On Jan 12, 2008 6:15 PM, Jonas Pfenniger <zimbatm at oree.ch> wrote:> 2008/1/10, Jeremy McAnally <jeremymcanally at gmail.com>: > > I''m not sure who Camping''s steward is at this point(zimbatm? _why?), > > but I haven''t seen much activity in quite some time. I''m interested in keeping that alive.

In the better interest of helping all of you feel more welcome to contribute. http://github.com/why/camping I will probably close Trac and move to ditz for bug management, if zimbatm doesn''t mind at all. You can look at Shoes'' bugs/ directory for a sneak peek at how that all turns out. _why

Concerning ditz, it makes sense to have bugs related to a particular version of a code. I''m not sure if I should expect camping users to understand git and ditz to report bugs, but why not ? -- Cheers, zimbatm -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I like it, because it lets me feel more in tune w/ the projects that I care about. Being able to follow a project or a coder and get updates when something interesting happens makes coding feel a bit more communal, and I think that''s a good thing. --beppu -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
