wxruby users - Aug 2006 - Ruport Day

Here''s an idea we might want to look at just after we do the alpha
release:

The basic premise is 24 hours of testing, debugging and coding focused 
on one app.  They announced to the ruby mailing lists and have prizes 
they arranged (Could we get a sponsor?  I don''t know.)  Personally, I 
think prize money opens a can of worms.  But a public acknowledgment if 
usually welcome to open source contributors.  I''d even suggest we 
involve the wxWidgets people, perhaps someone there can merge in the 
Ruby notes to their source tree.

I think the alpha release will generate a lot of interest.  We can help 
build on that later as we get close to the first release of the new 
version with a wxRuby day.

Neat idea. I would be inclined to do it a bit later in the cycle. Maybe
after a beta. At least after we have the big crashing bugs fixed.

Maybe. But if we plan to rubify the api, maybe we don''t want the docs
changed until after that, to avoid churn.

I think the alpha release will cause a signficant bump in downloads and
mailing list traffic. Brace yourselves.
