rc2 clipping bug
Hello vorbis-developers,
I found that the start of "Patrick Bruel: Trois ans et demi d'amour"
causes a serious clipping artifact (~ a tenth second long) in the left
channel. It happens with oggenc and oggdrop too, but only in the 128,
160 and 192 kbps modes.
I have uploaded a FLAC-encoded sample to

Sorry if this has been solved

0x0d 0x0a in comment field contents
Hello Vorbis developers' list!
If I understand correctly, Vorbis comment field specification enables
the use of any standard UTF-8 sequence in the field contents. I.e.
0x0D 0x0A as well. The Nullsoft Vorbis plugin, for example, will
happily let you enter "enter"s into the COMMENT field.
I know that at least VorbisExt is broken in this regard, but probably
other front-ends needs

fake stereo
Hello all,
I created today a fake stereo piece of music (the left and right
channels were completely equal), and encoded it with the all the modes
the RC2 encoder supports, and found that:

mode * joint * stereo * in * in % * *
* stereo * /2 * kbits * of JS *

Slightly off-topic: question about DOS batch files
Jack, thanks for your quick reply about my Comment question.
This next question is slightly off-topic, but it pertains to encoding a directory of WAV files into Oggs.
Right now I have 14 WAVs that I ripped from a CD... I made a [huge] batch file which specifies the name and track number of each WAV. Unfortunately, I have to have the entire batch file on a single line, since it's a

Winamp plugin playlist behavior
Hello vorbis-dev@xiph.org!
I used to be an MP3-addict, but beta4 convinced me so from now on I
decided to convert all my new audio to OGG :)
I'd just like to point out a strangeness in the Winamp plugin
behavior - try this:
Start playing a vorbis file, then click List Options->New List, after
that add a playlist or a stand-alone music file to the list; almost
immediately the first item

Pitch shift with RC2
I've just installed RC2 and I'm very excited about the quality. It's so
much better than MP3. This is the first version I've used since I just
found out about Ogg Vorbis.
I did notice that very high frequencies seem to be missing but since not
many people can hear much above 18 KHz it's not much of an issue. I suppose
this resolves the hiss problem so prevalent in MP3.

RECORDNUMBER
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi!
I am going to encode almost 2000(!) CDs to OGG soon and I will use the tag
RECORDNUMBER (as opposed to TRACKNUMBER) to indicate which record in a
multi-cd-album it is. Maybe I'll also use the tag RECORDNAME if the record
also has a name (eg Nine Inch Nails/Fragile's records are called Left and
Right).
Please make this tag (at least

low sampling rate
Hello,
is somebody working on a good low-sampling rate / low-bitrate mode?
I encoded today a mono/16KHz/16bit WAV (a TV-talkshow), using OggDrop.
The quality of the '64kbps' mode was unacceptable, so I had to use
'80kbps' mode. The bitrate averages around 42 kbps, which I found a
bit high for this quality. In your opinion, what bitrate should I
expect as Vorbis matures? 24 kbps?

Some minor refactoring of Oggdrop build environment
I performed a minor amount of refactoring of the build environment for oggdrop.
These include:
Action: Added a workspace to manage project files and dependencies
Purpose: To build all dependent libraries before attempting to build oggdrop --
i.e. provide one-step build process.
Instead of opening "oggdrop.dsp", open "oggdrop.dsw"
Action: Added

[fwd] Re: Can't encode anything using Oggdrop Beta 4 (from: bryandanielkennedy@hotmail.com)
I don't know enough to tell if this is pilot error on the user's part or a legit problem. Advice requested (also Cc: the original user if you can).

Easier OggDrop version
Hi.
I think that the vorbis team should use this version of OggDrop RC3 as the
official OggDrop RC3, because the menu interface is easier to use (& you can
see what kind of mode you have chosen).

fix for oggdrop disappearing window
Hi,
I don't know if this problem has been looked at yet. The latest version of
oggdrop I found was at
http://www.vorbis.com/files/beta4/windows/oggdrop-1.0beta4.zip. If you whip
the window quickly from right to left, the client mouse coordinate in
WM_MOUSEMOVE *can* be negative and so the LOWORD and HIWORD macros will cast
the mouse coordinates to insanely high 64K-ish values. Then the

OggDrop version ?
How can I find out the version of the OggDrop program ?
It has no version info ( no About box ) and the exe file
properties has no Version tab.
What version of the vorbis libraries is it using ?
The same goes for OggDropXP ( it is a bit better , it has
an about box with it version and compile date, but still
no info about the used ogg/vorbis libs and no Version property
for the file )

oggdrop issues
It may just be me, because Windows is behaving very strangely right now, but it looks like oggdrop generates the same file for both 64 and 80 kbit modes, both are 64.
Also, I think somebody must have assumed that Windows can multitask. Should oggdrop perhaps lower its priority or something? I can do it manually, but it makes things crawl, and sound cut out, if I don't.

WAVE loader for oggenc and oggdrop
<LET OBJECT=STEAM DIRECTION=OFF>
Here is an improved WAVE file loader for oggenc/oggdrop :
int load_wave(char * filename,void * buffer)
{
fprintf(stderr,"unsupported WAVE file format !\n");
return -1;
}
It has the same functionality as the current code, but is shorter,
has less ( zero ? ) bugs, is easier to maintain etc.

contributing to oggdrop
I was wondering how I would go about contributing to oggdrop... I don't have a
lot of experience(read: newbie) with open-source projects on the net... so any
help is appreciated...
Thanks

Bug in OggDrop XPd 1.0 ?
('binary' encoding is not supported, stored as-is)
Hello!
First let me say that after several experiments i have done today, encoding
a wav to several ogg bitrates and then listening to them in winamp, i'm
realy pleased with the sound quality of the final release 1.0 of Vorbis.
But during these tests i've done, i found that OggDrop XPd crashes when i
try to encode at 16KHz, 22KHz

How to use OggDrop?
Hi,
where can I find more detailed information (e.g. user guide) about how
to work with OggDrop (simple and advanced version) under Windows? How do
I convert audio cd to ogg vorbis files?
Thanks
Matthias
