can I create command line versions of the newer test releases?
Hi,
I am a newbe here, so I hope I am not asking something crazy. I was looking on the Celt downloads and I noticed that the latest command line builds were for version 0.6. I know it is still early in development, and that the devs probably don't have time for developing CL versions for everything. since I know nothing about sourcecode and whatnot, I was wondering if there was a fairly simple

Listing of oggdropXPd at http://www.vorbis.com/software/
Could I request, please, that the link on this page that currently
points to: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jfe1205/OggVorbis/ be changed to
point to: http://www.rarewares.org/ogg-oggdropxpd.php
It is simply that the Rarewares site can support a much greater
bandwidth than I can and I usually update it ahead of my own webspace.
(It's also a 'proper' web site rather than just an ftp

quality -2 in vorbis?
Hi again,
I was just looking at reviews on vorbis and reading some listening test results when I came across several web sites that were saying something about Vorbis quality
-2. From what I read a few programs have Vorbis going down to quality -2 and I even think hydrogen audio forums mentions it in a speech compression topic. Does this quality really exist and has anyone even heard of it? I

I've tried 3 times to drop a 250kb wav file on oggdrop, and oggdrop crashes each time. Is this too large of a file for oggdrop?

oggdropXPd.exe crashes when resampling is activated
I need to encode a WAV to OGG but must resample to 22050 samples per second,
but can't do that with oggdropXPd.exe. The application always crashes.
What I do is:
Start oggdropXPd.exe. Right-click on fish, choosing 'Encoding Options'.
Under Advanced Options, I set Re-sample to 22050 samples per second. Click
'Accept'. Drag WAV on fish. In the directory where the WAV originates,

Vorbisgain in OggDropPXd
Hi (hope I am in the right mailing list!)
I really can't figure out how to use Vorbisgain in OggdropXPd - it
doesn't seem to work so far.
Can Someone pls. explain detailed (steps) what to do when using
Vorbisgain in OggdropXPd?
I understand the settings for Vorbisgain are in "decoding options"...
why?
What I really want is the function of Mp3Gain on Ogg-files, and I

Pre-compiled OS X binaries?
Stephen F. Booth, the author of a number of audio progs for OS X (sbooth.org), is a subscriber to this list too and he might be able to provide an OS X build of FLAC 1.3.0.
However, I can understand the Xiph policy of only supplying officially blessed versions compiled by themselves. I guess we'll have to wait for 1.3.1...

Multi-channel support
Hi All,
Are multi-channel (more than 2) formats fully supported in the OggVorbis specification ? I couldn't
find any information about multi-channel support on xiph.org. I've used 'oggdropXPd' to encode a
5.1 wavefile and the Xiph OggVorbis libraries (vorbisfile.dll) to decode the file successfully,
however the order of the channel interleaving is different to the original wave

GCC generates slow code for IA32
I measured encoding speed of 24-bit WAV files. It turns out that 32-bit
encoder made by GCC is ~1.7x times slower than 32-bit encoder made by MSVS.
It seems that GCC creates inefficient code for 32bit * 32bit -> 64bit multiplication
for 32-bit architecture. This problem affects FLAC__lpc_compute_residual_from_qlp_coefficients_wide() and FLAC__lpc_restore_signal_wide() functions.
Is there any

SPEEX and OPUS questions and minor issues
I recently stumbled upon <speex/speex_resampler.h> and made a chain of
discoveries:
- "http://speex.org/downloads" some links are broken ("rarewares" and git)
- there is some (minor) development (whitespace and more) of the "dead" Speex
codec ... will there be a release? (I don't really need such myself)
- there is some (more useful?) development of the
