Scheduled Ogg streams for testing
Well we're testing scheduled Ogg streaming, but it would be nice to
test with an audience bigger then me and a few irc users, so I thought
I'd drop a note to the list.
http://support.bbc.co.uk/oggstreams.shtml
This will contain any scheduled tests to come and anything currently
being streamed. For scheduled stuff, only things we're given
permission to do by producers can go on

Hacking up streaming - we want to
Hi,
We would like to stream some of our content as OGG Vorbis.
We've currently managed to hack liveice and icecast to stream over HTTP
and play that with ogg123. But from reading the dev list, I see that's
also been done here, probably in a more elegant way - can anyone point
me at the right place to see the current state of this?
For now we'll probably just be doing this

solaris success??
icecast 1.3.10 is the server i'm running, but its ices 0.1 that gives
me a segfault under solaris. it works just fine on my linux box. ices
0.2 doesn't segfault, but it seems to overrun the server (if that
makes any sense), it plays a 3 minute file in seconds.
maybe i'll have to switch to mod_mp3 for my solaris boxes.

The BBC tests Ogg Vorbis on the net!
An article I saw on the french news site http://www.linuxfr.org says that
the BBC is testing streaming with Vorbis on his web servers. Apparently, it
works very well with XMMS. Vorbis is growing in popularity and it's a good
thing!

Last Night of the Proms
This is NOT official, and NOT supported, but as the proms are a free to
all event, I thought I'd set up an Ogg stream for anyone that's around
today and wants to listen in.
The traditional last night music has been replaced in recognition of
the events of the last few days.

The future for open streaming solutions at the BBC?
Hi all,
I recently emailed a query to the maintainers of BBC London website
(http://bbc.co.uk/london) asking if they had any plans to move away from
Real Server as a means for streaming audio and Video of their live radio
and tv broadcasts to something a bit more cross platform like OGG/Vorbis
or even MP3's. The reply I received was :

BBC
Thought some of you guys might like to know that that it looks like the
BBC are trialing Rails. I got a DB error when trying to connect to their
prototype cataloging system the other day.

solaris success??
Has anyone been successful getting an icecast webcast going under
Solaris? I have tried several times using different versions of
icecast, ices, shout and solaris, but have never been able to get it
working without seg. faults, or glitching, or other problems.

yet another test stream / Icecast2 segfault
Hi,
My stream is up and running until today evening somewhen (CET).
http://scapa.dnsalias.net/oggmusic.m3u
or directly:
http://scapa.dnsalias.net:8066/test.ogg
It's tested already, so it should work, but I don't know much about the
reliability yet. Icecast1 unreproduceable segfaulted on me sometimes and
that's what I want to know with Icecast2, too. It DID segfault today,
but only

Hi there.
First, some words about what the context is over here.
I'm a member of a french working group assembling several non profit

Streaming content from BBC just stops
Hi,
I've been trying to listen to the BBC's ogg broadcasts over
a 56Kbps modem and
have had problems. I can listen to the archived shows, but
I get occasonal pauses. I assume this can be fixed by pre-loading
a large enough buffer. But when I try listening to the
Radio-4 stream, the buffer fills, then I get sound and for maybe 5
more seconds I continue to get modem traffic. Then the

Problem running BBC Doctor Who game in Linux Mint Debian
Hi,
I have a Toshiba Satellite L500 Laptop running 64bit Linux Mint Debian Edition 201109.
The laptop has ATI Radeon M92 (HD 4500 / 5000) graphics.
This is based on Debian testing and because at present there is no WINE in the testing repositories, I have installed 1.3.30 from:
http://frickelplatz.de/debian/
This seems to work fine: I can run LTspiceIV perfectly.
However ...

Secondary Groups and Group Mapping
We are having what appears to be two main issues in our attempt to setup Samba 3.0.0 compiled from src on Solaris 8. We are using Samba to provide Unix shares on W2K clients, and to authenticate against a W2K Active Directory server. OpenLDAP is used on the Samba side for the UID/GID to SID mappings.
The first issue deals with the file sharing. Even if a file gives full permission to one of a

Thanks David.
It's a brand new array but I've double checked and there's not much space used and plenty free.
