Installation help
Hello, I am trying to compile R using the Sun WorkShop 6.0 (Forte) compilers. I don't think I am having a problem with the compilers, but instead with figuring out how to modify the R configuration to use non-Gnu compilers. I found in your documentation that one should modify the config.site file to change compilers, compiler flags, library paths, etc. I made modifications in this file,

well i fixed it a bit, if you add #include <sys/select.h> it gets rid of: connection.c:192: `fd_set' undeclared (first use in this function) connection.c:192: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once connection.c:192: for each function it appears in.) connection.c:192: parse error before "rfds" connection.c:193: storage size of `tv' isn't known

segmentation fault with GCC 3.0.2
I have now tested R 1.3.1 compiled with GCC 3.0.2 on Solaris and the example I previously posted (repeated below) still gives a segmentation fault, as it does with GCC 3.0.1 but not with 2.95.2. The eigen calculation sometimes needs to be repeated several times before the segmentation fault occurs. La.eigen does not cause a problem. (The problem occurred with R-devel too, but I have not tested

Error compiling R.2.8.1 with gcc 4.4 on Mac OS 10.5.6
Hi all, I've encountered a build error with the latest R source (2.8.1). This is a relatively fresh install of OS Leopard (10.5.6), latest developer tools installed, gcc/g++/gfortran version 4.4 installed (via http://hpc.sourceforge.net/, after which I updated the gcc & g++ symlinks to link to the 4.4 versions; gfortran used the 4.4 version without updating the symlink). Ultimately I

R 1.7.0 fails to compile on OS X 10.2.5
Hello - I'm trying to compile R 1.7.0 on a PowerBook running OS X 10.2.5. I've compiled R (1.6.2) successfully before on this machine, under either 10.2.3 or 10.2.4. My gcc is from the latest Apple Developer Tools release and the g77 is up-to-date via Fink. R passes ./configure just fine, with the following options: R is now configured for powerpc-apple-darwin6.5 Source

OpenSSH 3.2.3p1 won't compile under IRIX 6.5.14
Previously 3.2.2 would not compile under Solaris, then 3.2.3 came out with a bug fix for the problem. Now 3.2.3 won't compile under IRIX 6.5.14. I've tried using both gcc 3.0.1 and the IRIX MIPSpro 7.1 compilers. I've been compiling previous versions of OpenSSH for years using these same compilers (we haven't updated the MIPSpro compiler for 3 years, and I've been using it on

Comments on R-1.2.1 builds (PR#851)
The R-1.2.1 builds have gone fairly smoothly on most of my UNIX architectures, but there were many warnings reported by the picky SGI compiler that could be eliminated in future releases. Generally, I have found the SGI compilers very helpful in ferreting out portability problems, unused and/or obsolete variables, unexpected datatype coercions, etc., and they compile faster than any other

Building under IRIX 6.5 (report)
On my IRIX system (SGI compilers, gcc not installed) ./configure runs fine, but there is a problem with make (output below) that can be solved by changing one line in src/modules/lapack/Makefile. If this line is changed, make runs without problems. 'make check' still has a problem (sh[14]: /usr/sbin/perl: arg list too long), but I assume this is "cosmetic". Manfred -----------

Cross compiling a package for Windows on Linux
I would like to compile for Windows a rather simple R package that contains some C code. It does not contain any Fortran code. I tried the cross-compilation route using the pre-built set of tools from http://www.devolution.com/~slouken/SDL/Xmingw32/, as described in $R_SRC/src/gnuwin32/INSTALL Using the sources in r-devel from the rsync site I am able to build libR.a in src/gnuwin32 but I
