PANIC and delayed drive mapping?
Hiya! Samba 2.0.7 on HP-UX 11.0. When a user tries to map a drive, the smb.log shows the following: NOTE: the stanza ending in PANIC repeats 3 times, snipped here for brevity ===================================== [2002/02/28 11:12:43, 1] smbd/server.c:(641) smbd version 2.0.7 started. Moving Existing W2K Local Profile to W2K Roaming profile
Hello all: I am running Samba 2.2.3a on RedHat 7.3. I have a user with an extensive Local Profile. I want to join his computer to the domain and make his current local profile a roaming one. I have tried the following steps: Attached the computer to the domain. Logged into the computer as a Domain Administrator. Gone to my computer -> user profiles. Selected the users local profile

users on W2k
Hiya I'm using Samba as my PDC, and this is fine for desktops since most of them are still Win98. However, the bosses laptop has W2k and used to work fine under the Novell client. ie there was one user on the laptop and those setting were used when logged into Novell and when not connected to the net. Now, with the domain we seem to be stuck with having 2 users, one the local machine

W2K/2.2 (CVS)/PDC problem.
Hiya. I'm trying to get a 2.2 PDC working, and am hitting a brick wall. I've tried to make sure I'm in compliance with the 2.2 HOWTO and FAQ, but it doesn't seem to be helping. - I've added both root and my pc's "hostname" to smbpasswd, and the hostname itself to the passwd file, as per the HOWTO. - I swiped the smb.conf and /etc/rc.d/init.d/samba files from

XFS ACLs vanish. (2.2.2a and 2.2.3a)
Hiya. I've got an XFS partition, have compiled and installed all the XFS stuff, then compiled (with --with-acl-support) samba, which then returns: checking whether to support ACLs... checking for acl_get_file in -lacl... yes checking for ACL support... yes Using posix ACLs So it would seem to me that ACLs would be supported. So then I install and run it, add the box to the (Samba 2.2.2)

Mapping / UNC question
Hiya! I have a developer that would like to be able to have access to a share on a UNIX server running Samba where he can use UNCs embedded in VB code on a win2k client to access files on the share. No problem, easily done. He also wants users to _NOT_ be able to use the Windows Explorer to map the drive and gain access that way. He wants only for his embedded UNCs to access the share. If you

roaming profiles Samba 2.2.3a and W2K SP2
Hello samba-insiders, we have a WinNT 4.0 SP5 PDC and our samba 2.2.3a is member of the domain. The roaming profiles of our clients stored on the samba 2.2.3a server. All seams to be perfect but clients with W2K SP2 cannot use there roaming profiles. ---> "Access Denyed" is the W2K error message. But if the same user loggs on on a client machine with W2K SP1 all things are ok. In

W2K and XP Offline files stopped working with 2.2.3a
Hi - It appears that Samba 2.2.3a broke Windows ability to use offline files from a Samba share. This used to work fine under 2.2.2. When a user syncs an offline folder, everything appears to work properly, but once disconnected, only a small portion of the files are visible in the offline folder, and the files are not accessible - they give strange error messages about files being read-only or

Antwort: roaming profiles Samba 2.2.3a and W2K SP2
Hi Rene, I have found this in the "whats new" for Samba 2.2.3 Added/changed parameters. ------------------------- ... nt acl support This parameter has been changed to a per-share option, and is very useful in enabling Windows 2000 SP2 to load/save profiles from a Samba share. ... Maybe it helps! Regards, Thomas Bitte antworten an <rene.lenga@atacama.de> Gesendet von:

Can't print from applications in W2K to Samba (version 2.2.3a, Debian woody)
Dear all I am currently setting up a Samba server and am experiencing a bit of a problem with printing: I have a Canon LBP-1000 connected to the Samba server via the parallel port. Printing directly from the machine works fine. Printing to the printer directly attached to my W2K client works fine, too. When I try to print from the W2K client to the printer connected to the Samba server, however,

I have installed Winbindd, Samba, and compiled with PAM and updated my smb.conf, pam.conf file and the other stuff in the installation guide.
