Running Wine in Window Mode
I seem to be able to run a video game in 1024x867 (what ever it is) as a window, by selecting the window mode button in the game. However, i can not run the game in window mode with a resolution set about 1024x867. What is going on? I am assuming i am missing something in wine or the game that does not allow the video game to be run in any resolution greater than 1024x867 in window mode.

Can the WINE window be larger on high resolution settings?
I was reading this post http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?p=45535&sid=6957add8af3402a8afa68d8527121e2d and others like it looking for a way to make the content in the WINE window look larger. I mean to look like 800x600 resolution when the monitor settings is at 1024x768. So, I have typed this on the command line: Code: wine explorer /desktop=spider,800x600 spider.exe or wine explorer

I installed Wine from the repositories using Code: sudo apt-get install wine Wine 1.1.12 is downloaded & installed correctly but none of the menus or buttons have any text in them. Clicking on any button flashes the text on it. Everything else is replaced by _ . Here are a couple of screenshots : [Image:

I've only really started using wine and linux on my pc. Already set up and have working WoW on wine but i find difficulty when changing windows away from the open wine window. First noticing this when I tried to take a screenshot of my WoW screen, the screen then flashed with the blue back ground of my wine window, I was unable to return to it without completely shutting off wine and going

When exactly are we going to sever the tie to the mailing list? Jeffreydavidmorris: I doubt my reply here on the forum will ever get back to you, and no, I am NOT going to search for you on the web. I'm sorely tempted to delete the whole thing as spam, but there were what seemed to be a couple of legitimate questions buried in that mess. So: The version of Wine you are using is old, and the

OT: Xranr support for MacOSX {was: Wine Window not Maximizing in MacOSX}
Note: This is somewhat related to Wine as fullscreen window support for X11 does not exist, at present, in the base X11 code. Many folks have posted threads asking why this is not so. Bottom line: Without good xrandr support, there will NEVER be true fullscreen support nor the ability to open X11 sessions with sized windows without using the virtual desktop. This is sorely needed and

The place to put this information is the MacOSX wiki page, which looks to be sorely in need of updating. An experienced Mac user needs to do it. http://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX

Selling Wine compatibility to Windows software vendors.
We have recently started promoting the Ubuntu OS and have converted all of our offices to Ubuntu. We have closely been monitoring the development of Wine. It has progressed very nicely and is the ONLY reason we were able to fully convert all of our computers to linux. We even sell gaming PCs with World of Warcraft thanks to Wine. We were just wondering if the developers of Wine ever considered

Different Resolution in a Wine Window Possible?
I operate my openSuse 11.3/KDE desktop at 1600x1200 using ATI's CCC, but wish to run some Windows-based games in a Wine window at (say) 1024x764 while the main desktop remains the same (1600x1200). Is this possible? When I use windcfg and the virtual desktop setting, all it seems to do is change the SIZE of the wine window, but not the resolution. TIA.

wine rejecting keyboard input when window not focused
I'm wondering if theres a way to disable it, I made a program which broadcasts keystrokes between multiple windows (see the source here, http://www.nomorepasting.com/getpaste.php?pasteid=19683 ) This program works fine in everything, except wine. It works fine in wine too, but only when the window is focused. This makes me think that wine is rejecting the keyboard input, purely because the

This is my wine day: subpixel-AA is here
This makes may day; it actually makes my week! I can't believe the genius wine developers have implemented subpixel font anti-aliasing in 1.1.12! All the apps look 100 times better now! I have opened Word 2003 about 10 times today just to look at the new beautiful UI! I have waited for this ever since I started using wine (~ 2006). This is my personal wine day! Thank so much, wine developers

Wine crashes
ive read the FAQ and saw that a common problem with emulating games is system freezes/seizures. i followed the FAQ and re-installed my graphics drivers with no success. i think i must be missing something when trying to run wine, but i dont know what it is because this is my first ever Linux install. i cannot run any type of .exe without it freezing my system entirely- i have to restart it. any
