StarCraft beta downloader folder dialog issues, how to solve
Well, I found this bug with WINE's folder dialog returning something that the StarCraft beta downloader does not expect. So no matter what folder I chose to save the game in it said "Invalid path chosen! Please choose again." But I can't report it in a useful manner because the beta downloader should not be legally shared. But I was able to bypass this bug by modifying the

Starcraft 2 Cannot create game.
Hello All, I am in the process of going fully to Linux from Windows. I have everything set up and working great and I love it. I have been playing WoW via WINE and it runs flawlessly. I did not reinstall it I just went over to the windows harddrive that I have not gotten rid of yet and used that install. I decided to do a 1v1 SC2 match with my buddy and I set up the same things in WINE for SC2

Starcraft II Beta Launcher Issue
I successfully installed the beta to one of my partitions, and the patches were all applied without a hitch, didn't get the slow firewall problem until the last patch application though, for whatever reason. I have an nVidia GTX 260 with the most current drivers installed. When I put the following command in the terminal it hangs on the bold and then goes through the rest to give me a popup

StarCraft 2 Wine trouble
Basically, i'm trying to get SC2 to install on wine. I've heard that it is easy to run and works fine. However, i can't run the DVD (i get an error saying that there is no installer data found) and when i try to start it using the digital downloader, it crashes with the error 'invalid parameters'. This happens from a right-click -> Start with wine, or starting from the

Which hardware component causes performance loss (Starcraft)
Hi all, I would like to know which component needs to be substituted to get a better performance in Starcraft 2. On windows 7 64 bit I get on highest graphics settings something at 30 fps. On my openSuse 11.3 64 bit system with wine 1.3 and nvidia driver I am only able to reach 18 fps or so. My PC: - 6 GB RAM - Intel E6600 @ 2 x 2.40GHz (only 60% while playing) - Nvida Geforce 8800 GTS 768 MB

WINE, StarCraft II and I/O bottlenecks
Hi all. Since I installed SC2 on my Ubuntu 10.04 x86-64 (Phenom II X4 965 BE, 8 GB Ram, nVidia 470 GTX - Driver 260.19.06, USB mic+headphones), I never managed to play at it with Ultra details with more than 12~15 FPS. You could say that the fault is in a slow CPU, bad videocard or lousy sound card (the above USB stuff). But the CPU isn't that bad, the ram quantity is more than enough and

SC2, Kubuntu 11.04, Can't Create AI Games & No Maps in List
Hello; I researched the wine install of SC2 and I was able to correctly mount my DVD drive to read the hidden files on the UDF optical drive. That helped a lot. The install ran perfectly and the patches downloaded/installed with no problems noted. I can now run SC2, but when I go to single person the screen changes to the one with a list of maps on which I should be able to create a game, but

System 32 error
Hi, i am a mac user, and a starcraft 2 player. Once the beta went offline, i decided that i wanted to get the map editor working. I went through problem after problem with boot camp, crossover, and parallels. I accidentally found wine, and decided to give it a shot. After i learned the command line, it worked surprisingly well. I got the windows version installed. So now i need to open the

How to reset the StarCraft 2 Graphics Settings
Issue: For any who installed sc2 under wine and changed the graphics settings from its default and now sc2 will not load. For me I keep getting a ErrorReporter message. Your essentially stuck in a catch22 situation. Can't load sc2 until you change the graphics settings and load change the graphics settings until you can load sc2. Starcraft crashes
I have used Starcraft under wine for a long time, and I have just learned to put up with random crashes. The only version of wine I have gotten to work is ancient (991212)! I have tried more recent versions, but I haven't been able to get them running at all. Is there a wine that doesn't crash randomly running starcraft? What wine do you use for starcraft? (BTW, there seems to be a

nVidia and Starcraft
Ok... here's my big problem with the nVidia drivers. Ever since I upgraded to 0.9-6 DGA mode with Starcraft has been broken!, and now with the 0.9-767 drivers Starcraft has refused to work AT ALL. If I replace the drivers back to the 0.9-5 (which are dreadfully unstable with SMP) Starcraft works fine. Any resolution, any color depth. With 0.9-6 I have to run Starcraft at 8-bit depth, else

Screen resolution in StarCraft
I have installed StarCraft succesfully, but the screen resolution is only 600x480, how do I change it to 1024x768? I have tried to write: wine --desktop 1024x768 starcraft.exe but that makes the area available 1024x768 inside a 600x480 resolution! Sincerely Jesper

Updating Starcraft?
I'm having a little trouble with trying to install newer versions of Starcraft (updates or Brood War) on a win-free Wine installation. I can run the installer off the original Starcraft CD, and it puts all of the files in the right place, adds a couple registry entries, and then chokes on creating the entries in the Start Menu. Still, I can kill the process at that point, and I have a usable

Warcraft 3 & Starcraft run _without_ a CD crack!
I got Starcraft and Warcraft 3 working without a CD Crack using wine. The trick is a link in the ~/.wine/dosdevices directory to your mounted CD-Rom directory with the name: "d:" for example if you starcraft CD is mounted in /media/STARCRAFT then enter the following commands: cd ~/.wine/dosdevices ln -s /media/STARCRAFT d: Don't connect the the Battle.net. Starcraft will crash

LAN games no longer working in Starcraft
My nephew was home last night and I couldn't play Starcraft with him because selecting UDP or IPX LAN games no longer works. When they're selected, a message box appears saying: Unable to initialize network provider I had the same issue in 0.9.11, 0.9.12, 0.9.13. I was able to play multiplayer LAN games previously, but I'm unable to say what version I was using at that time. I first
