Re: running 16 bit real mode executables on mac
Hey guys, i know this post is old, but i'm also having the same problem. I'm trying to compile MASM 6.1.5 programs in wine, and using ml.exe compiles and links everything perfectly and outputs a .exe file with no complaints. Then, when i try and run the program it give me an error like Code: fixme:module:__wine_load_dos_exe DOS executables not supported on this platform winevdm:

running 16 bit real mode executables on mac
Hello all, first of all congratulation to all the wine stuff for the great job. I was trying to run some old 16 bit executables using wine (darwine) for mac, but from what i understand darwine is still not able to execute those exe. On Linux, doing wine TASM.EXE works fine, under mac, typing the same command (but using darwine) i get fixme:module:wine_load_dos_exe DOS executables not

Is there a difference ...?
Doh123, how is running a program off an NTFS partition asking for trouble? Ntfsprogs seems to handle it just fine. I know that NTFS doesn't let you mark a file as executable, and that the filesystem is susceptible to fragmentation, but you should just be able to tell it to run rather than display and be good. It shouldn't cause destruction. I think there might even be an NTFS defrag tool

Antivirus for Mac Wine?

Switching to 16 bit colour ...
"bit of trouble" - good pun! But I do hope it gets solved. Can you make a bash file (oh no - a pun of my own!) to automate any of those annoyances? Would putting the game "in its own WINE" help at all? Calling C implementations of rnorm and friends
Luis, C_rnorm is a symbol but it's not exported. This means that you *can* do this by using stats:::C_rnorm. That said, it's not exported, which means that it's not supported to do this. So your package likely would not be allowed on CRAN, for example. Best, ~G On Jun 30, 2016 2:08 PM, "Luis Usier" <luis.henrique.usier at gmail.com> wrote: > Hi all, > >

OT: Xranr support for MacOSX {was: Wine Window not Maximizing in MacOSX}
Note: This is somewhat related to Wine as fullscreen window support for X11 does not exist, at present, in the base X11 code. Many folks have posted threads asking why this is not so. Bottom line: Without good xrandr support, there will NEVER be true fullscreen support nor the ability to open X11 sessions with sized windows without using the virtual desktop. This is sorely needed and

Dosbox integration problem
I'm having problems running a batch script that executes a combination of 32 and 16 bit exe's. The 32 bit programs run fine. When the 16-bit exe executes, wine finds dosbox and dosbox executes the program fine. However that 16 bit program creates a file which then needs to be used in the following part of the script. There's no sign of that file after dosbox exits and wine continues

Calling C implementations of rnorm and friends
Hi all, Looking at the body for the function rnorm, I see that the body of the function is: .Call(C_rnorm, n, mean, sd) I want to implement functions that generate normal (and other) random variables. Now, I understand that I can perfectly well just call the R wrapper for these functions and that will be almost indistinguishable for most purposes, but for whatever reason I wanted to try and

Trying to run really old Macromedia Director game
Hello, I have wine v1.1.10 installed from portage on a Gentoo x86_64 box running KDE 3.5.9 and Linux kernel 2.6.27-gentoo-r7. Wine built cleanly and the included apps (iexplore.exe, notepad.exe, explorer.exe, winhlp32.exe regedit.exe and even cmd.exe) all run fine. Networking works with no trouble in iexplore.exe. I am very impressed with this app. I tested multimedia by downloading and

Is DOSBox replacing native DOS support in Wine?
I haven't followed Wine in quite a while, other than to do an occasional update (but hopefully this will change). I noticed DOSBox support was added in January 2011. My understanding is that when Wine can't even attempt to run DOS programs itself (MAC OSX, 64bit OSes, etc) that it will attempt to run using DOSBox. Is this correct? Is the plan to replace native Wine DOS support across the

Civilization 2 Install Problem
The install is an .exe which must be run in windows, but the actual program requires DOS support. Should I install a windows version of dosbox in wine and then run dosbox in wine and have my windows dosbox run the .exe? And yes, Linux dosbox cant run it.

Save Venn-diagram (Vennerable) together with table and plot in single pdf page
Dear R-users I want to save a list with characters a point plot and a Venn diagram in a single pdf page. I am successful to do this when I use a character list and two point plots. However when I try to replace the first point plots with my Venn diagram (built with Vennerable package, compute.Venn() and plot.Venn()) the Venn plot will not position at the right place in the pdf. I guess there

Calling C implementations of rnorm and friends
Gabriel, Thanks for that! I guess I really should have figured that one out sooner, huh? I understand why that wouldn't be CRAN-compliant. But then, what *is* the proper way to do it? Is there any way I can call unexported functions from another package and have it accepted by CRAN? Also, if I instead re-write the random variable generating functions, do you have any idea of where the

Calling C implementations of rnorm and friends
Well, For this particular use case why not just transform the parameters at the R level and then call the existing function? Is there not a closed form mapping? ~G On Jul 1, 2016 2:50 PM, "Joshua Ulrich" <josh.m.ulrich at gmail.com> wrote: > On Fri, Jul 1, 2016 at 6:13 AM, Luis Usier > <luis.henrique.usier at gmail.com> wrote: > > Gabriel, > > > >
