Wine problems after OS upgrade - possible causes?
Hello!
I'm at my wits end with regard to the following problem: after I upgraded my Linux distribution, no windows program running with wine (either 1.2 or 1.3) that changes the graphic mode would run anymore. It is quite possible that I inadvertently changed something in my configuration at some point, though I believe that I by now have tried everything. I'd rather not post specific

WoW, and most other games, do not run under Wine.
I've recently installed Wine onto my ubuntu intrepid ibex box and I'm having endless issues when it comes to running games. Right now, I'm specifically trying to play World of Warcraft and I am receiving graphical issues that cause the game to be unplayable. These bugs are widespread and i cannot see anything in the game's window. The laptop is running on an Intel GMA965Q. I've

A resource for which things I need on Wine to run games?
I was wondering if people have ideas as to what the best place is to find out what I need to run games using Wine (not terribly specific, I play a lot of old and new games and just want some kind of link that is helpful). If there are particular dlls/utilities that are required for a lot of games it would be nice to know about those.

Sound skips in all games since Wine 1.1.6
In 1.1.5 the sound/music in games played allright. Since 1.1.6 it skips badly - plays for a couple of seconds, then stops for half a second, then plays again, then skips and so on. Happens on every game on Steam - Team Fortress 2, Everyday Shooter, Peggle Extreme - and also without Steam - Icy Tower.
I have Razer Barracuda AC-1 sound card. I've found that in Winecfg when I choose Alsa driver

GNOME menu entries for wine run games
I have been trying to add a launcher to the gnome menu for some of my wine games, but I have found that when I add them to the menu the games complain about missing files, I assume because it is looking for the rest of the game files in the directory that the launcher is in. This doesn't happen when I run the same command within the games directory they work fine.
I used to have this problem

cant play after updating to ubunto 11.10
I recently updated my Ubunto from 11.04 to 11.10 and I can no longer play windows games via wine.
However I can still launch and use Steam, but I cant play any of the games there, Steam shows the "preparing to launch..." message but the game never launches.
Also with World of Warcraft the game launcher opens up, I can see the news and all, but when I push the play button the launcher

Blank Screen
Hello - newbie here. Please be kind if I'm breaking protocol. I didn't see my question in the FAQ, or a topic related to mine in the Forum.
Anyways.
Running Warcaft 3 or Wizardry 8 will load - but the screen goes black. I can Alt+Tab out, and do anything else; but there is no response from the game. These games worked fine a while back when I first ran them - but after following the

Run World Of Warcraft on Wine?
Hello,
Since I've used Ubuntu 10.10 and had recently been upgraded to 11.04 I have seen various changes, but the one thing that concerns me is because the fact that every time I try to install World of Warcraft onto my laptop it seems that the Start-up screen (Usually before you hit the Play button). there are gray lines around the sides and the game itself doesn't play as well in Windows

World of Warcraft in Wine 1.0rc1 with Creative x-fi
All other games have sound except wow.
I recently updated to 1.0rc1 from the last version (whatever it was).
I have an x-fi and the sound was working. Now for the life of me I can't get it to have sound in wow. Other games (like Guild Wars) seem to be fine.
Anyone experiencing the same issue with this setup?

World of Warcraft freezes and stutters periodically
Hi,
When I load World of Warcraft the CPU jumps from an average of 10-15% up to 100% and stays there pretty constantly whilst playing. This doesn't seem to affect gameplay most of the time (and I understand it may be relatively normal behaviour for running games under Wine), but occasionally I get a complete lock up of the game for about 3 seconds. The game screen freezes completely and the

wow.exe Wont Run in Wine 1.2.1
Many months ago, my machine ran WoW 3.x flawlessly. Now however, with Linux, it wont run at all. I am using Wine 1.2.1 and WoW 4.0.1 installed fine with the downloader, and the launcher runs without a hitch (although the "play" button won't appear once in a while). But once the Launcher program attempts to run the wow.exe, I get nothing. No game, no error message.

How do I get WINE to see a mounted disc image as a CD?
I prefer to run games that require CDs from image files, since it is faster and protects the life of my CDs. In windows, I would just mount the disc image and I could then play. But using Wine and Ubuntu, it appears to work differently.
When installing a Windows CD using WINE under Ubuntu 8.10 64 bit, how should I go about mounting a disc image so it is seen by games running under WINE as a CD?
