Which wine do I download?
Ok, This is kind of a stupid question. I've worked with Windows for awhile, but I really don't like it. Linux was suggested by a friend of mine. I've got Linux Mandrake 7.1 deluxe, and I'm not sure which version of wine I should download. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanx. Jeremiah Holland Emperoroftheice5@cs.com

I lucked out and found a message thread with the exact same problem that I have, however, there was no response as to how to get around this. Any suggestions please would be greatly appreciated. I am running Red Hat Linux 7.0. Here

I built from the source file following the commands in the install manual. >plot(1:10, 1:10) does nothing! So clearly I have a problem with X Windows. > capabilities() jpeg png tcltk

Having trouble getting winedbg to be invoked, trying to run sol.exe
Well, I retitled this message several times while writing it, as I discovered more things; the brick wall I ultimately ran into is getting the debugger to work. So, bear with me... I'm trying to get Wine working. Ultimately I have a couple of apps I want to get working, but at the moment I'm trying to run sol.exe to verify that Wine is installed and configured properly and... having

Newbie (Very Newbie) Question
Okay, I just installed RedHat 7.1 on my comp like 2 days ago. I'm slowly learning. I have my HD partioned with a Winblowz section (5gb) and the rest is for Linux (the other 55ish). I D/Led the stripped version of Wine from one of the sites that you get to from www.winehq.com. It's in rpm format, so I simply used the File Manager in RedHat to install it (Right-click selected Install). So,

wine reports wrong version
I have been running, first, codeweaver's wine and, just recently I built and installed wine-20010918-1. Nonetheless, no matter which version I have had, doing a "wine --version" produces "Wine release 20010824". I have uninstalled wine before switching from one version to another. Doing "rpm -qa |grep wine" shows only wine-20010918-1 installed. Somewhere

Commandline tools broke between Sept 21 and 20011108?
I have been running Wine-20010824 updated via cvs to Sept 21 quite happily for some time. Today I updated to Debian testing's version of wine, which is 20011108. It seems to work-- but commandline windows apps are now behaving very strangely. Wine seems to put the console into raw mode! This causes programs that read lines from standard input, like ss.exe (part of visual sourcesafe), to

Wine compiles but dosen't run
Since version 20020509 I've had nothing but problems, so I decided to reinstall the OS, format all partitions, and reinstall all drivers and programs and updates in the hope that wine will then work correctly. It's taken about 11 hours; I've now installed wine again, but for some reason I had to do make install --ignore-errors; wine did not start after wineinstall; I now get this

xterm needs reset, no output
I have attempted to get wine functioning for several days but have been having no output recognizable as a windows program, rather the terminal acts much as though the output was that of a cat of a binary file and requires a reset to become useful again. I am running Slack 7.1 on 2.2.18 on a dual celeron machine using XFree86 4.0.2. All other programs are functioning normally. I have used
