wine and Monkey Island 4
Hi, today I wanted to start Monkey Island 4 with wine. I'am using cvs version of wine from today (04.Feb.2001), I also patched the transgaming directx patch into it. My system: SuSE 7.0 with KDE2.1beta2, GeForce 2MX with 0.96 NVidia drivers, Soundblaster PCI 128 (ES1371) with Kernel drivers. I use wine with installed Windows. My startup command is: wine "c:\Monkey4\Monkey.exe"

You can get updates from our live CVS tree, discuss DirectX specific issues on the 'WineX-devel' mailing list, etc. The SourceForge project page is at: http://sourceforge.net/project/winex The CVSROOT for CVS is:

directX
Does the current CVS version of wine have the transgaming directX patch already in it? I'm pretty sure that I've installed wine correctly. I installed the most recent RPM available, and the Diablo II installer says that it can't find direct X. I then downloaded the tar-ball, and tried to run the transgaming patch on it, and it said that it had already been run. That's not so

directX and transgaming patch
Could someone please post a concise explanation of what's required to get directX working in wine? Here's what I've tried, and vaguely what happened (I'm running RedHat 7.1, new install): installed most recent rpm version of wine can't find direct X (shouldn't be surprising) uninstalled got most recent tarball of wine compiled it can't find direct X

HowTo run Monkey Island 4 with wine
Hi, because nobody was able to tell me why I wasn't able to run Monkey Island in wine I now tell you what i did to get it running: I have installed wine with the transgaming directx patch (which is not necessary for wine). Monkey Island defaulted to DirectX when I started it, but the Transgaming Patch is yet not good enough to run MI4. To get it running you have to to the following:

HOMM3 and DirectPlay
Using a recent build of wine (20011023 and previous) I've gotten heroes of might and magic 3 working, minus networking :/ After doing a full install in WINE (with fake windows), attempting to run the game came up with the 'unable to initialize resources - possible disk problem'. Examination of the output of wine --debugmsg +relay,+text,+string Heroes3.exe indicates that the game is

Transgamings patch - install
How do I install the DirectX-patch from Transgaming? I run the Wine that came with Mandrake 7.2. I've tried to run the patches in all the folders that has something to do with wine. I'm using "patch -p1 < wine-something". It just says that it couldn't find the file to patch. Mikkel Mastrup _________________________________________________________________________ Get

Two different windows configurations
Hi, i have compiled winex from source, and i also have windows 98 with directx 8.0 running in my computer. I would like wine not to use my real windows 98 configuration, but a new one, with its own libraries, this is because i know i should not try to emulate real Directx. I think wine can create a fake windows directory which contains all the libraries, but don't know how to create it.

DirectX problems
Hi, Maybe you've talked about this many times before, but i've got a problem with DirectX. When i try to run any application that uses DirectX it just tells me that i don't have it installed on my system. The fact is that i do have it installed, and works fine in Windows ME, maybe the version is too recent? i'm using DirectX 7. My system is: Linux Redhat 6.2, Windows ME,

DirectX 8.0
Hi, I'm trying to install the game "Aquanox" under Wine which needs DirectX 8.0. I've found a mail in the wine mailing list archive stating that wine already includes DirectX, but Aquanox keeps complaining about a missing d3d8.dll. Trying to install DirectX 8.0, I end up with "DirectX couldn't be installed on this computer". Any hints on this one? Sebastian --

DirectX in Wine
I've tried to install the game "Caesar 3" on my Linux-box. It worked fine during the installation. The problem appeared when I wanted to play it. Caesar 3 needed the file DDRAW.DLL I found out that it was one of DirectX's .dll-files. Isn't Wine supposed to work with DirectX without installing it? Doesn't Wine have its own "DirectX-clone"? What should I

Project "Muncher" the next step in wine
Ok, It's a lame name but it was the best I could come up with after spinning around in a desk chair for a few minutes. Here is the general idea behind it. Once, in an interview, Steve Balmber, the CEO of Microsoft threw some standard MS FUD out about Linux being a poor choice becaue each distro tends to "mutate" linux and has no solid direction I thought "Wouldn't

DirectX 8
I have Wine-20010112 in a RedHat7 box and I'm a butt newbie in wine. :) I've installed succesfully the game 'Shatered Galaxy' but the graphics are weird, it looks like a directx problem to me, so I tryed to install the latest DirectX 8 that I found in M$.com but it says something like 'This version of DirectX can't run in your Operating System'. Anyone knows a way

New TransGaming Patch
This worked with: Wine CVS from Jan 29th + Transgaming patch XFree 4.0.2 NVidia drivers 0.9.6 Had to turn off DGA, and force wine to manage created windows, otherwise I get a glXMakeCurrent error when it tries to set the current GLX rendering context. The frame rate isn't quite windows, but the demo is certainly playable. Good luck, Dan "Chris Howells"

The Sims
I have a copy of the Sims installed on a Win2k FAT32 partition. I know for a fact that The Sims works under Wine (Mandrake's "Gamer" edition), but I get an error when I try to run it. The error is as follows: "Game cannot be started because: There is not enough memory or hard drive space to run. Exit now." I do have plenty of free space and plenty of memory. Does
