Cisco SPA3102 Thoughts & Other Recommendations
I'm looking to build a VoIP solution for 100+ service vehicles that have
WiFi hot spots installed (with cellular uplinks). Currently we are
trying out Skype wireless handselts and Majick Jack. I'd also like to
consider an Open Source solution that can bring the calls back to our
data center [possibly integrated without our existing BCM 3.x VoIP
PBX].

conference and wifi phones
Hi guys,
I'm looking for a affordable conference phone and a wifi phone that has a cradle.
Polycom seems to make pretty nice conf phones but the price is a bit crazy for us. I saw the recommendation with ATA plus an analog Polycom phone but I do prefer a SIP phone. All because it's just too difficult to pull a phone cable into the current conference room. Is there any cheaper SIP

mini-PCI FXS card?
Is there any product that's a single port mini-PCI FXS card?
I'm aware of the Openvox A400M
<http://www.openvox.com.cn/products.php?genre_id=39>, but I really only
wanted one port.
How about a single or dual port PCI or PCI express FXS card?
Basically I wanted to build a small linux router with one or two phone
ports.
Alternatively, is there already a router or single board

WiFi VoIP Handsets..
Hi,
I am investigating getting a wifi VoIP phone because its may be a better
option than an ATA and a cordless phone..
Does anyone have any experience with the whats out there??
Do they support things like WPA etc??
I have heard the battery life can be a problem.. Is this the case?
Thanks..

Looking for a wireless phone... wifi ortraditional wireless ?
In that example you could make outgoing calls only correct? (since incoming
likely needs port forwards)
I guess the questions becomes "how often are you going to do that to justify
the extra $100 or so you going to pay for a wifi sip phone?"

looking for a better ATA
I currently us Linksys/Ciscio, Grandstream and AudioCodes ata's. none of
the three perform well in all enviroments. Between stablity issues, T38 and
DTMF talkoff all three suffer some combination of issues.
I am looking at Patton and Innomedia. Has any one tried either brand and
what is your experience with them. Which would be the base for stability,
audio quality, provisioning, DTMF

DECT to SIP gateway experiences
G'day. I hope this isn't off-topic for the list.
I am looking at an Asterisk setup that includes cordless phones. The
three choices I can see, at this stage, are:
* wifi phones
* an ATA and a cordless analog phone
* a DECT to SIP basestation
The various wifi phone options don't grab us as suitable -- they are
costly, have poor battery life and even the best have pretty mixed

Wanted: UK-specific hardware recommendations (FXO and FXS)
I have a pair of Asterisk servers which are happily routeing VoIP calls.
I want to hook one of them to the PSTN. Given that I am in the UK, what
is a reasonably easily-available device to provide an FXO interface from
a Linux box, with a minimum of faffing around with drivers? Just one
line is needed, though in theory two might eventually be useful. My
usual white-box hardware suppliers don't

ATA shootout: PAP2T versus Grandstream Handytone 286
I'm considering a situation where I buy about twenty ATA devices.
I've played with the Linksys / Cisco PAP2T, and got that working fine
with some inbound and outbound faxing. The web GUI was okay. I'm
seeing prices around $45 to $50 for this thing. It comes with two FXS
ports, but I only need one FXS.
I've seen the Grandstream Handytone 286 online. It looks promising as

GSM/DECT handsets (was gsm picocells)
Now that I actually try and google for it, I can't find any dual mode
GSM/DECT handsets, only pages telling me that they exist without any
actual information!!!
Does anyone know of any such handsets? (and even better, ones that are
available in Australia) I've searched a few of the major gsm
manufacturers (nokia, Panasonic, sonyericsson) but their web sites are

ATA recommendation (wih FTP provisioning)
Hi,
I am looking for a good ATA recommendation, ideally something:
1) with one FXS and one LAN port (so it's as inexpensive as possible)
2) That can be provisioning using FTP (configuration and firmware upon
reboot, ideally remote reboot from a sip notify)
3) Supports T.38
Nice to have would be:
a) PoE powered and AC powered (my choice)
b) Small size-wise

WiFi SIP phones
Greetings list,
What are people's experiences with WiFi SIP phones?
When I last looked into them about 18 months ago, they were incredibly expensive, had very limited range and poor battery life. In the end, it worked out much more cost effective to simply use ATAs + DECT cordless phones where there was a requirement for portable devices.
I assume things must have moved on somewhat since

Is this a $50 wifi or wireless USB VOIP phone ?
http://www.pcphoneline.com/skype
"The VPT1000 is NOT a simple last generation USB phone audio device but
is rather a next generation integrated gateway and USB phoneset with
simultaneous dual mode Skype and SIP calling support. Skype is not
forecast to have "SkypeIn" available until June 2005 but you can have
the capability now via its built in SIP capabilities."

WiFi phones and WDS (Wireless Distribution System)
I'm about to start working with WiFi phones on my Asterisk
installations.
Can anyone tell me if they are using WiFi phones on wireless network
that is extended with WDS and how well the phone handles jumping from
access point to access point while on a call?
Do any WiFi phones support WPA encryption or are they all still under
the impression they are only being used on public hot spots?

[Bridge] bridge-utils + Linksys WET11
So, I'm setting up my first bridge, and I'm running into an interesting
issue.
I have a 4 port NIC (formerly 4 seperate /29 and /28 LANs) and an
onboard NIC (to my ISP).
I've setup the bridge using the script included at the bottom of this
email (modified from Gentoo for Aurora).
When the WET11 (the WET11 is a simple ethernet to wireless bridge) is
unplugged, the bridge works
