While the VoIP-Info.org site is down...
Is it wise to use an outage to promote your business, not on the user's list and not multiple times? Put it in your signature or something ;-) Thanks, Steve Totaro http://www.asteriskhelpdesk.com KB3OPB > -----Original Message----- > From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users- > bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Shane Breen > Sent: Wednesday,

To use asterisk or proprietary hardware, that is the question
Hi there, Here is my dilema. I have a new small business customer that wants me to put in a VoIP phone system for them. Based on their requirements, I have determined that it needs to be a "set it and forget it" type of thing like a lot of small business proprietary systems. At the same time they would like to be able to do minor dial plan changes themselves so I have determine

OT: DSL without voice
A lot of people are going for the "VOIP only" approach, but SBC says you have to have an active analog voice circuit before they will sell you DSL. Does anybody know which DSL providers will sell you DSL without making you pay for a voice circuit? Thanks in advance, ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Steve Edwards sedwards@sedwards.com

Oh oh. Micro$oft just noticed VoIP
It will be interesting to see how many standards get broken, and how many proprietary hooks get thrown into the pot. The bean counters smell some money, and their OS franchise is waning: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/26/technology/26soft.html -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.

911, networks of * servers, etc. (was: VOIP Dialtone?)
OK, that "VOIP dialtone?" thread was getting really out of hand, so I'll condense my answers into one big ugly message: 1) 911 service. Yes, that is one of three reasons to keep your PSTN line. The other two reasons are: Inbound calls from local callers still should work on a POTS line, for now. You can't find VOIP providers in most area codes, so you'll most

voip-info.org DNS seems broken
For the last few days I can not resolve voip-info.org from many DNS servers. It does resolve with some DNS servers but I suspect it may be related more to caching. Bottom line on fax reception
So what is the bottom line? Does it work or not. I've heard stories it works, it doesn't work, it kinda sorta works when it's not raining out side. Everything under the rainbow. What's the bottom line with recent updates on 1.2.x? Is it production ready for fax? By production ready I mean that it just works all the time and doesn't need any babysitting. Do I have to worry

Choosing a VoIP Phone
Greetings all, My next step is to purchase a nice VoIP phone for my desk. I have a grandstream, and the sound is great, but I'm looking for more of an office style phone, preferably that can handle multiple lines, has a more flexible display (i.e. name as well as number). SIP would be preferable. Any suggestions? Thanks, Eric

VOIP-INFO.ORG
Hi, If it is really true that the voip-info.org website is hosted on a DSL connection without static ip, I have a server in managed.com datacenter that can host it. I still have some ip's free, so tell me if you want to use it. Bandwidth will be on my cost the first terabyte every month. Server has plenty of space left on the HD. I offer this for free, heck, I even offer mail domain with it!

If anyone has feedback as to a GOOD voip provider experience (one that gave FREE DID) Please share. Again, I am doing this to learn about asterisk, I'm currently testing it at home. thanks, On Wed, Mar 17, 2010 at 11:49 PM, Joe Greco <jgreco at ns.sol.net> wrote:

voip-info.org unreliable lately?
Anyone have any insight as to why voip-info.org has been up and down all day, and more importantly unreliable for the last month? I assume the bandwidth is being donated or something, but surely someone would be willing to donate reliable bandwidth as the knowledge hosted on the site (which is also donated!) is worth way more than the bandwidth. There is no doubt it is the best

Vizufon Video Phone
So I won one of these on ebay, in the auction it says it has the RJ45 ports on it but it doesn't :( If I were to get an analog adapter would I be able to use the video portion of this or am I SOL? The auction requires me to pay for shipping back, so I end up losing money unless I sell it on my own. Or has anyone hacked these to work on enet?
