Need some dialplan help for obscure user request
I have a customer who wants their receptionist to input the users' long
distance PINs for the because they use each others pins. I am having
trouble coming up with a way to do this because of creating a channel
between the user and receptionist, dropping the channel and its variables
and creating a new one for the actual long distance call. Any advice is
really needed.

Read Back Caller ID Using Number Announcement in Digital Receptionist
I would like to setup an option in my digital receptionist that callers
can select to hear a read back of their Caller ID. It would be something
like, "the number you are calling from is...". I think I can reuse the
festival script that is built in, but ideally this could be accomplished
without using festival because Allison's voice is so much more pleasant.

Receptionists Phone suggestions? (Not Snom370)
Does anyone have any suggestions for a decent receptionists phone?
Aastra? Grandstream?
Something with (potentially) lots of BLFs, large(ish) screen, headset
and most importantly the ability to transfer calls?
I've installed five Snom 370s that seemed ideal but my client is very
very unhappy as the Snom 370 can't transfer a call correctly if there's
another call coming in (details

RE RE: Asterisk Receptionist manager program.
I have two contexts and there I have some sip clients and some iax clients,
in the sip clients a have extentions like, 20, 21, 22, 23, etc; in the iax

extention 20 was originating the call (in red, and show my name/extention)!

same extension on multiple sip phones?
I have a need to have the two sip phones register with the same
extension (at least I think I have the need :)
A client wants an incoming call to ring at the receptionists desk and
also at their desk. If the receptionist is in it will be answered there
and put on hold followed by a "Joe, you have a call on line 1".
Is there a way to do this w/ asterisk? I've played with two

Call forwarding and Caller ID
Hi All,
* is working very well for us now. But I have an issue that I cannot find
the answer to - enter guru's!!
When our receptionist does a blind call forward I receive the Caller ID,
however I do not know if the call is fresh (i.e. ringing in) or forwarded.
What I would like to do is to have * prefix the CID External (so that I can
tell that it is a fresh call) or Internal (to tell me

Reception softphone suggestions?
Hey, all. I've got a client who's interested in possibly using a
softphone for his receptionists. While I've certainly used some
softphones for single extensions, I'm not sure which one I'd suggest for a
receptionist.
Any favorites?
Thanks,

Non automated call parking
>From discussions with the receptionist staff, this is what we need:
X number of buttons for parking slots.
These buttons should be lit when a call is parked there.
When on a call, just pushing an unlit button will park the call. (The do not want to hit hold, transfer, etc.)
Hitting Transfer and the button would most likely be OK.
To pick up a call, they can push the parking slot button.

Attended transfer reconnect when goes to voicemail?
Hi
Running bristuffed 0.3.0-PRE-1f which is 1.2.1.
Using *2 in features.conf for attended transfer. Works well if someone
answers.
But the following sequence causes issue:
1. Receptionist takes call.
2. *2 then 123 to transfer to extension 123.
3. 123 is busy or does not answer so receptionist hears 123 voicemail
4. How can receptionist reconnect to calling user - could wait for voicemail to

Receptionist
Hi,
Quick question. With an old phone system a receptionist receiving a call
has 1 button to push to transfer calls to a specific extension, with
Asterisk, a receptionist would actually put the caller on hold, pick up
another line, call the extension, ask if the person is available, hang up
pick up the caller again and transfer. To me it's seems a long way to
simply do a receptionist

Receptionist Phones (was 3Com Phones)
Thanks for all the comments on the 3Com phones. Thankfully, there
is a large number of phones out there to dig through looking for the
right solution.
What I have not been able to find, after spending all weekend
looking, is a good solution for an attendant console. We have 2
receptionists that need to be able to view all 60+ phones (we could
probably weed it down a bit if we had to,

Sticky Park
My company for various reasons has asked that I come up with a way to
have previously parked calls be re-parked in the same parking slot. I
have looked at setting up asterisk so that the receptionist chooses
which slot to place a call, but I think there is an easier way. That is
when I came up with the idea of "Sticky Park". Here is how it would
work. A call would come in and

Receptionist phones
I've been playing with Asterisk for a few weeks and it's working great.
I have a question about getting multi-line receptionist phones working.
I was thinking about getting one of these expansion ports:

10.0 CallerID question
Hi List,
Another dumb conversion question (I hope). I installed 10.0
and copied my 1.4 configuration files over. With a few tweaks everything
works great except for 1 feature that I specifically went to 10.0 for. When
I do an attended transfer, I still get the receptionists caller ID on the
transferred phone instead of the incoming callerID. My assumption is that
there is some

Announcing a call transfer
With our current pbx system, a call comes in from the PSTN to the
receptionist. She then hits flash, which puts the caller on hold, calls
my extension, says "so and so is on the phone for you", I say "ok put
him through", she hangs up and I am connected to the caller.
With asterisk@home I can it # then the extension to transfer to and it
will ring there. But is there a

Grandstream hold one way audio -URGENT
Hi all,
At our customer site i've installed one asterisk server with 20
Grandstream GXP2000's. Firmware 1.0.1.9. When someone dials the
customer, the receptionist picks up, and does an attended transfer (the
'grandstream way') to a collegue. Most of the times this goes ok, but
sometimes, when the receptionist puts the call on hold, and tries te
reconnect to the caller there's

We are designing it for a touch screen monitor for her to do transfers,

stage and has bugs.

Caller ID and Call Parking on an analog PSTN line?
Hello everyone. I'm new to Asterisk but got some basic functionality going
last night and I'm just giddy to have my own PBX ;-)
Sorry if these are silly questions:
My Asterisk server has the TDM22B (2 FXO, 2 FXS) interface. I have a very
basic PSTN line coming in from the phone company, I tried to get the most
no-frills line possible (didn't pay for caller ID, voice mail, etc.). I

IAX Calls - One Way Audio
Hello List,
I am currently having a bit of a strange issue with a pair of asterisk servers that we recently set up.
For a bit of background, this particular business has two sites in two different towns, about 10 minutes apart. They have 3 analogue PSTN lines connected to the asterisk servers at each location, via a Sangoma A200 (with HEC). They are trying to have just the one receptionist for

Can an outside caller dial an extension before someone answer?
Hi,
We don't want a digital receptionist if we can help it (too impersonal!),
but is it possible for an outside caller to dial an internal extension (eg
201) after asterisk answers the call, but before someone in the incoming
call ring group has answered?
Thanks,
Simon
