Firmware version 1.3.1 released for Aastra IP phones
Aastra Telecom has released SIP v1.3.1 firmware for the Aastra range of IP phones (480i, 480iCT, 9112i and 9133i). The firmware and release notes (no updated admin and user guides yet) are available for download at: http://www.aastra.com/support/enterpriseip Contrary to what the version numbering would suggest, this is a significant update with many new features and bug fixes. Aastra phones and park/pickup feature
We are installing Aastra phones (480's and 57i's) into a fairly simple asterisk setup. Although call park & pickup work fine using xfer to 700 (to park), dial 701 (to pickup), we are unable to make the park/pickup softkey feature work on the aastra's. Although we've programmed the softkeys per the manuals, they seem to have no effect (just dead). For example, our 57i is

aastra 9133i DTMF tones
Hey - I know there's some other people out there that have the 9133i ... has anyone gotten the DTMF tones to work after the far side picks up? I didn't have any problems out of the box with my SPA-841 phones... the aastra has been nicer so far, but I can't seem to get it to dial the touch tones after an auto-answer device picks up on the far side... I googled, to no avail. -Karl

aastra v1.3.1 firmware
Hi there, Is it possible with the new aastra firmware to have distinctive ring support? (the wiki says: There doesn't seem to be any way to have the server request a distinctive ring.) The rest of the features make this sound like a good phone. (price/quality) cheers

Aastra phone crashes with Asterisk 1.6
I upgraded my office server from 1.4.22 to 1.6.0.5 on the weekend and after some testing there seems to be a compatibility problem when using Aastra phones. With 1.6.0.5 all incoming calls to all Aastra phones were dropped after a minute or so. I installed 1.6.1-rc1 and now the newer Aastra phones (5xi) work properly. The problem remains with the older phones (9112i, 9133i and 480i). If I dial

Problem with Aastra 480ci and qualify=yes
Hi, We have a few Aastra 480ci phones and we've noticed that in order to get the phone to receive a call, qualify must be = no. Apparently the Aastras do not respond to the qualify message (or respond in a way Asterisk doesn't understand) and Asterisk thinks the phone is unreachable. However, this now prevents MWI from working properly on the phones. Does anyone know how to get MWI

Aastra 9133i and NAT: Can it work?
I've been pulling out my hair all day on this one. If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it. :-( I've got an Aastra 9133i (with the latest firmware version) and a Cisco 7960 sitting behind a NAT device on my LAN. The Asterisk server is hosted offsite and has a public IP address. I've set up port-forwarding on the firewall for both phones to tunnel the SIP messages initiated

MoH with an Aastra 9112i
Hello, I have some Aastra 9112i's in production that almost function flawlessly. The problem I'm having is when a caller is put on hold they do not hear hold music. If they are on hold for too long (~ a minute?) they are hung up on. All other phones including Aastra 480i and Sipura/Linksys ATAs all seem to be working fine. Is this a quirk anyone else has experienced? Any

POE draw on Aastra 480i
Anyone know what the POE draw is for the Aastra 480i phones? We have switches that will do 15 watts on 12 ports but only do 7.7 watts on all 24 ports. A Cisco 3560 switch will do 15.6 watts on all 24 ports. Just trying to find out if we need that much power. Can't seem to find any info on the Aastra site. Comments?

Extension status as XML for an Aastra 57i
I'm in the process of converting our current hybrid key system to Asterisk and Aastra 57i phones. One of the features that seems to be a show stopper for almost everyone in the office is the inability to see who is on the phone. Can someone point in the right direction to setup an XML app on the phone so they can press a soft-button and get a list of extensions and their statuses? I know I can

cisco 7940 and auto-answer (aastra 480i vs 7940)
Having scoured the web, I still am no better off .. I have 2 Aastra480i's , and 120+ cisco 7940's :) . I am trying to decide which model to use going forward when we purchase more kit. They both seem much on a par regarding features. Q1: Is there anyway of making the cisco auto-answer _without_ having to manually edit the configuration on each phone ? I've been able to get the

Aastra phones loosing service...
I have a customer that has recently upgraded their network and now their Aastra 9133i phones are loosing their connection to the Asterisk server. They were using an external Asterisk server and now we have installed a new internal server with Asterisk 1.4.8 on a SIP/IAX implementation with no Zap cards. Only hard phones seem to be having problems keeping a connection to the server, soft phones

Asterisk not conforming to the RFC?/Aastra phone delay issue
Fellow list members, I have run into an issue where I encounter a delay at the beginning of a phone conversation when I make outgoing calls through Asterisk with an Aastra 9133i hardphone. This is most noticable when I call a voicemail system with the Aasta and then with a land line or other VoIP phone. The first word or two of the voicemail message is generally cut off. According to

OT - Aastra phones provisioning
Hi, I can't find a way to tailor DHCP/TFTP/HTTP environment so that brand new Aastra SIP phones can be auto-provisioned when config files are stored in a specific TFTP subdirectory instead of TFTP root directory. For instance, TFTP root directory is /srv/tftp. When config files are stored in /srv/tftp, a new Aastra can find its config files. When config files are stored in /srv/tftp/aastra,

Aastra 9112i or 9133i Ring Tones
I've been looking at the two phones Aastra 9112i and 9133i for our offices now. I was just curious if anyone could tell me about the ring tones. Specifically: 1) How many ring tones do they come with? 2) Can you upload your own ring tones? 3) If so, what format and how? (wav, mp3, gsm, etc. and TFTP, web management, flash, etc.) Thanks for any help. -- Tim DeBaillie 812-476-2721

1.6.2.14 > 1.6.2.15: blind transfer works but not Xfer on aastra
Upgraded from 16.2.14 to 1.6.2.15 on Fedora 13, with aastra 9133i and 57i. On 9133i and 57i: #<extension># works for a blind transfer. Xfer<extension>Xfer doesn't! All this worked on 1.6.2.14. Nothing useful on cli, verbose 3, DEBUG. Here extension 169 answers an outside call, and tries to transfer it to 145 using the Xfer button: -- SIP/169-0000009c answered
