Best cheap card to use for home Asterisk system???
Hi all - I'm building an Asterisk system (Trix2.2) for the house- I'd like to do the following things: I have a single phone line (happens to be Charter Communications VOIP, but I have their ATA and they've connected to red/green pair in the house wiring) What I'd like to do is this: Get some low-end but reliable card/external adapter which would connect to

Question on Aastra phones and Astrisk
Hi, Some odd behaviour here. A friend and I were talking tonight, and it seems we have both seen the same problem. We are both using aastra phones (I am using 9113is). We have a connection to and from providers via SIP and IAX. When I place a call on the local hold of the phone, and then pick them back up I can hear them, but they can not hear me. However, if I park the call,

NAT working outbound with Asterisk and ATA-186 phones
Thanks, Mark! Here's a summary of what one needs to do in order to get NAT working with Asterisk. Please note that I have a Cisco ATA-186, and your experience may be slightly different based on the equipment you're using. You'll need to have a CVS updated version of Asterisk as 2003-03-06 ~2:00 PM EST. NOTE: This currently works for outbound calling only, not inbound. In other

The Minimum Cost of Setting up an Asterisk Phone System?
Everyone-- Here's a cost analysis, rather crude and inspecific, of using Asterisk to implement a phone system. I'm really quite naive and new to all this, so I'd appreciate any corrections, tips, pointers, etc, from those in the community, who have far greater experience, knowledge, skill, etc. than I. Am I forgetting something important? Am I way off in my estimates? The Minimum

Asterisk and RTP streams
Guys, I've been poking around trying to find a good answer for this via voip-info, google, etc... Haven't found anything that helps, so maybe you mates could. A lot of my customers are using Linksys UAs (router/ATA PAP2) and some using Sipura SPA-2002s. Every once in a while, the customer will get one-way audio. I've read that this is commonly caused by the outgoing RTP port not

Problem with Arima HDAMA rev.G with Integrated SiliconImage Sil3114 Serial ATA 4 Ports and 1TB SATA disks. Recomendation for a cheap SATA controller for linux software raid?
Dear Everybody, I am telling you the whole story, perhaps you can give me a better idea. Almost 3 years ago I purchased Arima HDAMA rev. G motherboard with integrated Silicon Image Sil3114 Serial ATA 4 Ports SATA I adapter. ( http://www.arimacorp.com/ViewProduct.asp?View=86 ) . BIOS version is 2.13. My intention is to make a file server, using linux software raid, so I bought 2 new shiny 1TB

ISDN phones & Asterisk, ASDI and then some
Hello all, New to the list, Asterisk and this wonderful world of convergence. From reading the docs, list and websites I hopefully correctly understand that I can use a plain cheap isdn4linux supported ISDN (passive) TA to hook up the PC to the ISDN line from the telco (FXO card?). Next in the PC I also need a FXS card like a Digium TDM10B or PhoneJack so I can hook up an analog phone to it. In

Best ATA for general residential deployment??
I read the thread about what IP phone is best for business deployment with great interest. Our need is slightly different however. We are deploying VoiP as a value-add with our high speed internet service and are having trouble finding the right SIP analog terminal adapter. In order to support people's existing phones and wiring we need to use an ATA. 1) The first priority is we want

NAT keep-alive
Hi, On my linksys/sipura phones/ATA, there is a setting called "NAT Mapping Enable" and another called "NAT Keep Alive Enable" These settings must be on in my setup so that my phones/ATA remain connected to my * server. My setup is: Home LAN - Pfsense (NAT, Dynamic Public IP)- Internet - PFsense (1-to-1 NAT, Static public IP) - Asterisk server. I was wondering:

Multi-line phones - Asterisk uses wrong callerid
I have some phones (and an ATA) that are shared between two users who each have separate voicemail but they are not behaving as desired nor expected. Incoming calls show up on the correct lines. Calls originating from the device are seen, at the terminating device, as coming from the account listed last in sip.conf, regardless of the line selected. This creates three main issues I would like

ATA phones ring when they register
Hi, I have an 8-port Grandstream GXW-4008 V1.2A ATA converter with analog phones connected to it. They work fine except for just one "feature" I would like to modify. Somehow, each time the ATA re-registers the SIP clients or each time the device has to be rebooted for maintenance, the phones ring once. This feature can be useful as it notifies the user of the re-registration.

Looking for input on which way to go with small business setup
Hey guys! I'm the past week and a half, I have really learned a lot from the mailing list and the wiki's posted online. Now I have a question regarding different ways I can setup my asterisk server for a small business with 12 extensions in the office. Cost is a great concern, so I know cheap analog phones at the desks is what we are looking at. My question is, should I go do a fractional
