Linux distribution
Hello, Could anybody tell me if there is a Linux distribution (or Kernel version) that works better with Asterisk. I am newbie and I don't know if there is a preferred Linux/kernel version for Asterisk. Thanks. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Asterisk in parallel with PSTN
Hi, I have the following scenario: We currently have 1 incoming line, that 2 POT phones plug into, and when we have an incoming call, both phones ring. Is it possible to have Asterisks in parallel, so that when the 2 POT phones ring, I can have a Voip phone, which "is" plugged in and configured through Asterisk also ring (so that all three of them are ringing), and then someone can

1xT1 PCI card for *
I have a nice used zhone channel bank I want to experiment with, but need a T1 interface for my * box to do so. The TE410P looks nice, but more money than I want to spend to experiment, and I don't need 4xT1, only 1xT1. Are there any good 1xT1 PCI cards that are recommended? Regards, -Dorn

1 FXO termination device
Hi List, I am looking for a 1 FXO analog termination device, other than the obvious PC + FXO card, and which can achieve decent call quality. The SPA-3000 seems an option... have you got any other ideas? Cheers, Jean-Michel.

VM_CALLERID (how to get name+number)
I'd like to get VM_CALLERID to include number in addition to name since often when calls come from cell lines or various other, the name is just a city, state and the number would be more usefull. Is there a way to get the number in the VM_CALLERID string, or is there a second variable I can use in formatting email vmail notifications to get the number? Regards, -Dorn

Best quad-port fxo solution with EC?
Hello All, I am trying to figure out which way to go for a quad port fxo solution with a good echo can on it. My options are the sangoma remora, a mediatrix fxo, or something similar. The issue is that I would need a good EC. This would be on about a 9000 foot loop, and the lines don't function well on a spa-3000 or zaptel tdm 4 port card. Anyone have experience that drives them in a

TDM400P install on Debian 2.6.10
I just installed a new TDM400P with one FXO interface in slot 4 (how it came from Digium). This box is running Debian with a 2.6.10-rc2-mm3 kernel. After the make linux26 and make install in /usr/local/src/zaptel, I can see contents in /dev/zap but any attemp to touch for example /dev/zap/ctl gets a no such device or address ... Any suggestions?

how to get separate CDR for inbound and outbound legs of a call
If I have a call coming in on one line and then I am using Dial to send it out to another outside line, is there a good way to get separate CDR for both call legs? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Bullet-proof FXO?
Been using a few different FXO interfaces (X100P, Voicetronix, and SPA-3000) at a couple sites and they've all run into nasty issues at times. I'm looking at moving one of my offices and am in the market for a solution for connecting 4 FXOs. I got excited about recent offerings from Digium and Sangoma in the way of new cards but I hear they're causing troubles for more than a few.

SPA-3000 VOIP-PSTN gateway - long delay between answering and ringing
Greetings, We are currently testing a Sipura SPA-3000 as a gateway from our Asterisk system to a PSTN line for 911 access. We have a number of locations and want to place an SPA-3000 in each, connected to a PSTN line that will provide the correct ANI/ALI information to 911 for each location. It all works great, except for a reasonably significant (4 seconds) delay between when the SPA-3000

FXOs
Hi All, I'd really like to see a show of hands with regard to people's experience with FXO interfaces. I own a few X100p cards and have had nothing but problems with them. I also took part in Sipura's beta program, for the SPA-3000. While it can be an improvement over the X100p, it presently has echo problems that make it unusable. Sipura has not acknowledged the problem ( at least

FXO to IAX on ethernet. or FXO to SIP on Ethernet
Now I have searched around and not seen anything to do this. I want to in remote locations were we need to have single or 2 PSTN lines for in dial as little hardware as possible and as stable as possible so that they will operate without user intervention. What I want to do is be able to take a single PSTN line in and go out through adsl for the Inet link. These would be in VERY remote

alternative FXO gateway to Mediatrix 1204?
I bought a couple of Mediatrix 1204's a few of months back. (Perceived advantages were relatively low overall cost and size per port, and it isn't nearly as vibration sensitive as a PC would be.) Rich Adamson's review from Feb 1 is comprehensive, and the only thing I'd like to add is this: One "feature" of these units that absolutely infuriates me is its behavior for

Asterisk on a notebook?
I'd dearly love to be able to give an Asterisk demo by just toting my notebook, a PC/PCMCIA card, and a couple SIP phones. Is there any way to do this? Or should I look for a small-profile box with PCI slots, instead?

Hardware opinions?
Hello, I am trying to build up a pretty meaty Asterisk box after doing our initial testing and playing on a 1ghz system. Right now I have decided on a prebuilt system which I normally don't do but thought it seemed like a good deal. I have included the initial specs below, I will be adding another 1 GB of RAM for a total of 2 GB. My first question is regarding the serial ATA drives... I

SPA-3000 as a regular Asterisk FXO device?
My SPA-3000 finally arrived and I'm trying to get the FXO port on it to work as if it was a X100P card as far as Asterisk is concerned. I have Asterisk dialing out over the SPA-3000 FXO port no problem. The issue I'm having problems with is having the SPA-3000 automatically forward all incoming PSTN calls to the Asterisk "mainmenu" context (or ext I guess). Currently the

ztdummy
The USB core was completely rewritten in 2.6, and as such the functions that ztdummy depends on do not exist in 2.6. I get the feeling that these changes are too much to easily fix ztdummy, so I don't expect to see it working on 2.6 any time soon (if ever) I made some small changes to zaprtc to work on 2.6 and I have MoH and Meetme functions working fine in my lab. For production I would
