Polycom voice.gain.tx.analog.handset and asterisk echo
While I'm asking about the Polycom ip500, the answers for all phones where mic/handset/headset levels are adjustable would be of interest to many I'm sure. For the ip500, the default value for the handset seems to be voice.gain.tx.analog.handset="3" I've noticed that echo all but goes away when one reduces the mic volume on almost any phone. My question is, for you users

cat 5 'joiner'? (polycom 500 problem)
What gives with the stupid stupid power system on the Polycom IP500 (I hope they changed it on the 501's). Anyway, does anyone know if you can get some type of joiner to connect two Cat5 cables together, and will this affect the call/signal quality because my Ethernet cable is longer than the dumb 11ft polycom supply (oh and their manual is the wrong about which end goes into the handset

IP Conference Units?
Hi - We have a couple of large spaces that we'd like to cover with dedicated conference units like the Polycom Soundstation IP3000. We're concerned about adequately covering the spaces, though, one of which is very long and narrow. I wanted to get external add-on microphones for the IP3000, but I've found that unlike some of their other conference products, it does not have this

Polycom 500, asterisk user opinions?
Hi all, I'm researching IP phones for a new office setup. We will need 30 phones. I have read the wiki and the polycom site for the phones, but I still had some questions about real world experience with these phones. -According to the documentation, the 500 series ( and 600, according to a polycom rep ) have built in hubs. Has anybody noticed performance issues in this setup, when

MWI not working on Polycom Phones
Hi All - I'm running version SIP version 1.3.4 on various IP300, IP500, and IP600 Polycom phones. I'm having a tough time with MWI. I thought I remembered somebody on the list saying that they had it working, but I can't find it in the archives now. I have all the phones configured for MWI as specified in the WIKI: ipdmid.cfg: up.oneTouchVoiceMail="1"

Polycom IP500 vs Cisco 7940
Hi Everyone, I've been asked to determine which phones our organization should go with. And I've narrowed it down to the Polycom IP500 or the Cisco 7940. From my travels through google, it's hard to find a definitive comparison of the two phones. So I thought I would ask the people that have probably used both. From what I can tell, the only major benefit the Cisco has over the

Polycom Soundpoint IP400
I am trying to use a Polycom Soundpoint IP400 with my asterisk setup, and have been unable to find the proper firmware and application files to make it work. The phone can access the FTP server, and downloads the IP500/600 configuration files, but claims that the sip.ld file is larger than its file system. I can think of two possible ways to make this work. One is to find the IP400

Conference Phone
Any advice on a good conference phone that works with Asterisk? I like the Cisco line and was wondering if anyone has used the 7935 or 7936 phones. From what I can tell they don't have a sip load. Has anyone verified this or gotten an ETA from Cisco? Chad -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Polycom & VPN trouble
Hi All, I am a remote office that is connected to my office via openvpn on UDP. Voip has always worked well (after discovering g729). Initially I used a softphone, then an analog set on a sipura 2000, then a polycom IP500 (I still LOVE this phone). At that point, I started noticing that the polycom doesn't ring a lot of the time. Since I was desperate for a phone, I didn't upgrade

Polycom IP600 - Flashing clock and date?
Hello, I have configured my polycom ip600 and ip500. The phone works well. But the clock is wrong and flashes the whole time. Drives me nuts! I have set the time offset on the DHCP / boot server. 36000 (I'm in Australia!) It doesn't seem to help... Mike

Registration failed problems/Polycom 500/maybe nat problem?
I have sent a Polycom IP500 phone to an overseas remote user who has a Speedtouch adsl modem/router. The phone is connected to the 4 port router which performs NAT for the network. The phone rboots, find the server, downloads it's config and tried to register. Then it immediately becomes UNREACHABLE. Dead Polycom ip500
Hi, I just got and setup a new ip500 yesterday and it worked for about 15 minutes. Then it froze during a reboot. Now, when power cycled, the logo comes on for 3 seconds and then the screen is blank and nothing further happens. 468* factory reset doesn't work. I am about to send the phone back, but wonderd if anyone had a suggestion first.

Polycom IP600 - Worth the extra $$
Hello, I am looking at the Polycom phones. The ip600 has a very nice screen, is that the only real advantage over the ip500 and ip300.. Is it worth the extra dollars? SIP phones cutting out with Asterisk??
Hi folks, I've got a very bizarre problem recurring when making calls with Polycom SoundPoint IP500 SIP phones and Asterisk. Sometimes when a call comes in to an IP500, one of the sides of the conversation is cut off (i.e. the caller can't hear the callee, or vice-versa). This isn't easily repeated, and rebooting the phone, or restarting Asterisk, doesn't seem to have an
