asterisk users - Jul 2007 - Polycom IP 4000 Soundstation SIP Conference Phone Question

Hi,
Has anyone here ever used a Polycom IP 4000 Soundstation SIP
Conference Phone with asterisk?  If so, how well does it work and how
does it sound?

Many people have, including four conference rooms at Digium every
working day. They work well, just like all the other Polycom phones,
using the same firmware and configuration files.

I've never heard a better conference room phone that wasn't using a
proprietary stereo/positional audio system, but those are very expensive :-)

We have one, and one of our customers has two. They all seem to work 
pretty well. I work from my home office and participate weekly on a call 
with our corporate office where there are about 10 folks in a conference 
room, and I hear them all just fine. A vast improvement over using a 
Polycom 501 as a conference room speakerphone

I have one at a customer site and they are very happy with it.   Works well, 
sound quality is good, typical Polycom speaker phone sound.  You may have to 
train user not to yell though.

   I have one running here in the office and it works and sounds great.
I don't have the extra speaker attachment so I can't attest to that.
But as usual with the Polycom products, they work well.

Works fine and sounds good. It's a Polycom so it has horrible webUI. You
really should use config files for it instead. Remember with Polycom the
field called "network address" is your _extension_ not your ip.

Hi Matt,

We have one and it works very well - usual Polycom quality, as others
have attested. The only thing we have noticed is a reluctance to
download its config files via FTP when using a VLAN tag.
