Cisco 7960 and Asterisk...not working...
Chuck, The first thing I would do is to upgrade the load to version 6 or higher. I'm running the latest...version 7.2. (I'm very happy with it) Are you using TFTP to load the configuration or manually configuring the 7960? I know it's a pain to setup TFTP just for a quick test. However, it's well worth it. If you have a CCO account you can find the latest load and config files

Cisco 7940/7960 SIP 8.2 Freely Downloadable
Just in case anyone here hadn't noticed, Cisco is apparently making 7940/7960 SIP 8.2 firmware freely downloadable by anyone: http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/sip-ip-phone7960 username: anonymous password: your email address -- Alexander Burke, A+, CCNA Kingston, Ontario, Canada

Maintenance Contract for a Cisco 7960 phone
Hi, I have followed the thread on where to get a maintenance contract so that I can upgrade the firmware to a SIP version and have called two different places, CDW and Insight. Neither place will sell the contact, all I get is a B.S. excuse to why they can't. Has anyone had luck with a more friendly place or do they have the images? TIA, Trevor

Cisco 79xx firmware
I have several Cisco 79xx phones (7905, 7920, 7940, 7960, 7970, ATA 186) and I need to buy firmware for them. I have contacted http://www.cdw.com and http://www.insight.com/ but they didn't respond. Can anybody tell me where can I buy SCCP and SIP firmware for my phones? BTW, I'm in Croatia (Hrvatska). I heard that location does matter. P.S. My local Cisco reseller wants to sell me

Cisco Support for 7940, Is this Right?
Hi all, Happy Wednesday! Got a 7940G off eBay to tinker with and, per the wiki, contacted Cisco about a service contract. Being just little ol' me, they won't deal directly and blew me off (I hate dealing with Cisco, Nortel, etc as a small-business person...) Again per the wiki, I hit CDW.com and found CON-SNT-CP7960 for $9.14. Looking for support for the 7940 (not 7960), I just

Cisco 7960 Support Products
I just tried to order the CON-SNT-CP7960 part from CDW. This is the ~$8 1yr support contract that's supposed to give access to the Cisco download site for firmware for the 7960 . wellll, I got a call from CDW saying that Cisco wouldn't authorize them to sell that product to me. The sales rep conferenced me in with the CDW Cisco person and he explained that CON-SNT-CP7960 is an

Now I will move on to completeing the setup of the TFTP server. Thanks again -----Original Message----- From: Michael Loftis [mailto:mloftis@wgops.com] Sent: Friday, February 18, 2005 7:51 PM To:

Vendors for phones
I'm in the process of setting up a test/demonstration system to show that VoIP is realistic and applicable for our needs. We put a 7905 and 7960 on a request for quote that went out the other day (to people like CDW & Microwarehouse). All of the vendors returned thier quotes without including the Cisco phones. So my question: where do you buy your phones? We can't buy direct from

cisco poe
I know this is on the wiki, I just want to confirm so I don't blow up my cisco phones. I've got several cisco 7940's all running using cisco power cubes. However, my boss wants me to switch just a few over to poe, but doesn't want to fork out the dough for a nice cisco poe switch, or anybody else's poe switch for that matter. So my question is, what is the '99.999%

This is NUTS!!
G'Day All; So I purchased a Cisco 7960 and am now trying to get it configured for *. No can do without the variuos files/images through a FTPF server. I configured the TFTP server on my RHES 3 box, now to get the required CISCO files. So I contacted CISCO to purchase the required maintenance contract so as to gain access to the download area for the files/images. -WHAT A FRUSTRATION!!-

PCI-E CF adapter?
I know this is slightly OT but folks discuss zfs compatible hardware here all the time. :) Has anyone used something like this combination? <http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=1346664> <http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=1854700> It''d be nice to have externally accessible CF slots for my NAS. Cisco 7960 Promiscuous Redirect?
List, A Cisco 7960 is registered to servers A and B, where B is the backup server, only used by the 7960 if A is unreachable. That is the behavior of these phones. A call comes from server B to the 7960, which is successful. The 7960 then tries to park the call via an attended transfer, so the 7960 calls 700 at serverA. However, the transfer fails, though I am not sure why. I have

Cisco 7960, multiple registrations, and NAT
I'm having an interesting problem with a Cisco 7960 phone, and two Asterisk servers. I'm not sure if this problem is specific to the 7960, or even to Asterisk for that matter. Here's the scenario. I have an * server at one location with a public IP address (i.e. not behing NAT). I have a second * server and 7960 phone at another location. This one is on a private LAN, and uses NAT to

Cisco 7960 dual ethernet port - bandwidth impact
FYI for anyone using the dual ethernet ports on a Cisco 7960. I'm using a Cisco 7960 connected to an HP2524 10/100 switch, which has an asterisk box connected directly to it. No VLANs defined or in use. Measured bandwidth: PC -> HP Switch -> Asterisk : actual throughput measured at 94.1 mbps. PC -> 7960 -> HP Switch -> Asterisk : actual measured at 93.02 mbps. The
