Security Hell
I have been trying to setup two samba servers on Fedora Core 2 for the past 30 hours and am about to jump out a window.
I'm simply trying to create a few shares that multiple WinXP clients can have readonly access to and a select few have write privilages. Also, a few shares that are are private for a select few users with write privilages. In all cases, anybody should be able to browse the

Channel Bank Frustrations
I'm trying to get a Carrier Access Corp. Channel Bank I working with a
Digium T100P without success.
What is stranger is that the status lights on the channel bank and T100P
seem to change almost each time I power cycle the channel bank or reset the
T100P.
The channel bank has three status lights: T1, Framing, Status. T1 is green,
Status is yellow, and Framing is usually red but sometime

Channelbanks
Ok, the Zhone sucks and the Adtran 750/850 seems to be a little too
expensive.
Can anyone recommend a decent channelbank that won't break the bank?
TIA,

Is the X100P a WinModem?
So I've been on the Asterisk list for a long time. Mostly looking to set
it up as a cheap alternative to a commercial MeetMe bridge, as a for-fun
project.
I keep noticing the Wildcard FXO X100P sorta seems like a Winmodem.
Winmodems are basically a sound card chip tied to a pots port, where the
Winders driver takes on the MO/DEM functions in software. I've always
despised them as a data

adding DNIS digits
Situation:
8 POTS lines, 3 companies, 1 system. Channel banking the POTS lines
onto a T1 thru an ADIT 600.
The only way our carrier will provide DNIS is thru Analog DID #'s.
Anyone know of a piece of hardware that can add DNIS digits to a
particular line?

Channel Bank configuration
Hello,
I don't have any experience with channel banks and would appreciate any
feedback on my theory outlined below:
We have a single T1 entering the building with channels 1-12 being voice
lines and 13-24 being a 768k internet connection. This T1 terminates to
an Adit 600 (T1-1).
Here's what I know. Channels 11-12 go out the Adit 600's 25-pair
connector to a wiring block (and

Channelbank Recomendation and GS102 question
Hi All.
I'm working on an * configuration. We require 8 inbound POTS lines, and
CT1 or PRI seems like it will be
quite expensive at that level. I've read that a T1 Channelbank plus
the T100P would be a (the?) way to go
for this situation. What is the recommended channelbank for use in this
scenario? From searching the archives
I see a lot of suggestions to get "a

Hardware for PBX with 4 incoming/outgoing lines and 20 phones
Hi
I am interested in setting up an Asterisk PBX in my office with digium
hardware, and I just have a few questions in regards to what I would
need. It is my understanding that an FXO card is used to interface with
an incoming/outgoing phone line, and an FXS card is used for interfacing
with a phone within the system. Currently we have 4 incoming/outgoing
phone lines and would like to have

Minimum budget question ...
I've tried to figure out from the web site the minimum hardware cost to run a
small office Asterix solution but I'm afraid I miss something:
Let's say that I want to connect four/five analogic extension to the PBX.
I have:
- 1 computer as the server (with linux and Asterisk on it)
- 1 dummy patch panel to connect all the analogic phones around the office
What (and how many) cards

T100P & Phones Configuration
Below you will find, what I believe to be a typical setup with a T100P
card. My question is -
1. Is this correct?
2. What kind of phones would be needed here... (Would you have to use
Digital phones) And if so what would you recommend.

Programming an unlocked ADSI phone?
What kind of channelbank/FXS port are you connecting to?
I've seen problems connecting to some of the older versions of the
Adtran Total Access 750's. I wouldn't doubt there would be problems on
other channelbanks with older firmwares. Of course, no firmware on CAC
AB1's
I have the AAstra 480, Adtran 750 Channelbank (updated firmware), T100P
card, and it worked fine on the

Newbie hardware question
Hi,
I have scanned through the archives of this list and found a number of
question about hardware, but I just can not find the answer to my question.
I am new to phone systems, I got "drafted" to come up with a new phone
system for our company (I guess they figure since I know computers I know
phone systems as well :O).
We have 5 analog (I guess they are called PSTN lines) lines coming

SIP configuration question
First question: Do you need to use a special phone to use SIP? My setup is
X100P and TDM10B (I have 2 computers with the same setup), will I be able to
use SIP?
I already have the two computers calling each other using IAX, but I would
like to see if I can get them to work using SIP.
My current setup:
On computer 192.168.10.50

was FXO cards
Hey guys,
appreciate the input. Here are some thoughts.
ADSI phones are out of the question. This is a business environment, I
can't worry about my employees not knowing how to forward calls, answer
calls when away from the multiline phone, and no ADSI phone will handle
multiple lines that I have found.
I would love to put 6 X100P cards in a case and run asterisk on it.

WTB / WTS Voip hardware
I've got a Wildcard T100P along with a Zhone Zplex 10 24S/O which has
been working fine for me now for a while.
These have been pulled out of a working Asterisk installation (as they
were no longer required) to use at home only to find that the fan noise
is too loud. As such I'm looking to sell off this hardware and replace
it with some combination of fanless hardware that will allow me to
