Using OH323 and Gatekeeper
Hello all,
Please forgive me if this sounds a little (or a lot) ignorant as I am very
new to asterisk.
Right now I have two pc's connected back to back through an E100 card
running asterisk. I have openh323 running as well and I am able to route
calls through the E1 line. Next up I would like to be able to register
asterisk with a gatekeeper. On another computer is running openGK. Using

Using a Cisco 7960G
Is anyone using the subject phone without the proprietary call setup equipment? How do you configure this phone to use the * pbx? I am hoping to go out and buy a couple of phones but the dealer here says I need to spend another $15K or so for the call manager equipment.

I have just got my SNOM 200 to start doing some real testing with *..
I am trying to use the GSM codec but the quality is really bad, Is that normal? does anyone actually use GSM??
Also are there any 'gotcha's' that I need to look out for so I don't spend hours trying to get somthing working that really doesn't work anyway..
Thanks..

Huge SIP traffic!!
Hi,
Has somthing radical happened to the way sip traffic is handled??
I was just doing some testing and where G.711 used to use about 84kb/s
of bandwith its now using between 150kb/s and 190kb/s.. The lowest I
could get it to in the Snom was 160kb/s and 75 packets per second which
was by setting the packet size to 40ms (was 20ms) in the Snom codec setup..
I am running a CVS version from

Getting Started with Digium T100/E100 cards
Just purchased a couple of T100 and E100 cards in order to interface from
our company's proprietary system through a linux gateway. I am new to
Asterisk and Digium.
After installing the T100 card, I went looking for drivers for this card.
Are the drivers built into the Asterisk application? If so, how do I enable
the card through Asterisk?
Are there any good getting started documents for a

Gatekeeper
Hello
I am a newbie to Asterisk. We have set up Asterisk on a PC with Redhat 9.0. We have installed H323 openphone on our PC's. We are wondering what a gatekeeper does. It seems we need one but what I have seen in this group is that a gatekeeper must be installed on another box on the network. As all our PC's on the network use Microsoft OS is there a free gatekeeper software for

IP Phone with Standard Power Ethernet
I am looking at phones for my asterisk system and seem to have a problem.
The only Power over Ethernet phones I can find that support the IEEE
standard are 3com. Cisco uses its own proprietary ( and is expensive to
boot ), snom has a different but equally non-IEEE method, and i'm havent
found another phone that I'm confident can do the job for our office.
Whats a good high quality ip

Best IP phone?
Hello!
I have finally ordered some Asterisk hardware: the TDM DevKit. However,
I want to use VoIP phones (or possibly adapters) for remote users. I
would like to get some suggestions on which phones to buy. I'm hoping
that some of you with real experience might be able to help me out!
Here are the features that are important to me:

Busy Lamp Field SIP Phone
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good SIP phone with a busy lamp
field? I need my operator to be able to see extension status for about
20 extensions and transfer via HOLD + extension button. I've got a pair
of SNOM 360s with the sidecar, but I'm very disappointed with them. The
buttons are cheap and rubbery like a Sipura 841, the handset cord is
short and cheap, the audio quality

Snom or Cisco Phones?
Hello
I need to buy IP Phones to work with Asterisk, and I'm in doubt between
Snom and Cisco Phones.
Can you gurus, please, give me your impression of these 2 brands? I need
to focus more in SIP and Asterisk compatibility and less in pricing
(yes, I know the Cisco are more expensive).
Are there any features that Snom has, that Cisco doesnt? And are these
features important?
Thanks

advantages of a sip phone over Wildcard TDM400P solution
Hi,
after finally getting my testsystem to work well I'm planning to buy
some hardware. Now I was wondering what the advantages / disadvantages
of using a Wildcard TDM400P solution over using real sip phones like the
snoms is? The only thing I came up with is that the Snoms can use a LDAP
adressbook on the server. What about calling a sip adress like
person@server.com. Can this be done by

Snom phones?
Hi, everyone:
I'm in the processing of deciding what IP phones we should use with our
Asterisk server, and I wanted to get feedback from the user community on
the quality, reliability and ease of operation of Snom phones.
What do you have to say about these phones? Are there other phones you'd
suggest along with or instead of Snom?
Thanks,

IP phone with many speed dial buttons
Hello,
I'm looking for IP phones with at least 10 or so speed dial buttons. Can
you recommend something which works with Asterisk
and does not cost fortune?
An option can be analog phone combined with ATA adapter. So hints for
good analog phones (EU) are welcomed as well.
Thank you,

PSTN intercepted announcement
Hi,
I have asterisk functioning as SIP to H.323 gateway for local SIP endpoints and I have H.323 to PSTN
gateway (Lucent MAX TNT) connecting my LAN VOIP to PSTN via PRI.
Everything works fine with one exception. I seem to be unable to figure out why I cannot hear
PSTN intercepted announcement ("number is not in service" etc.) when I'm calling
a disconnected number through

Regular expressions
Matching regular expressions
Dear useRs!
I have the following problem. I would like to find objects in my environment
that have two strings in it. For example, I might want to find objects that
have in their names "MY" and "TARGET". I do not care about the ordering of
these two substrings in the name, neither what is in front, behind or
between them, the only thing important
