Newbie Question-Looking for Feedback
I've been looking at Asterisk for a replacement for our phone system and I'm
hoping someone can help validate my assumptions.
We have 4 analog lines coming into the building. These lines are simple POT
lines and we have them in a "hunt group" with Verizon so that when a single
phone number is dialed, the first line is rang, if that line is busy it will
ring the second line, and

I would like to buy a SIP IP phone, but I don't know wich one to
choose... Can you tell me wich IP Phone is known to work with Asterisk
please.
I've seen the Cisco 7940, but I don't know if it works, and how
expensive is it ?
I'm french, so if you know some french resellers, tell me.
Thanks a lot,

building a phone
Hi folks
A common wisdom here is that one should use a proper hardware phone
rather that an extra software on the user's PC. Why is that such a big
issue?
One thing that bothers me with the current crop of hardware SIP phones
is that they are hopelessly properitary.
So what would it take to build a fully-adaptable phone?
Here are some of my thoughts. This is not anything I plan to do soon

DTMF and Snom
Hello list,
I'm having some troubles with DTMF tones. When pressing numbers on a
Snom phone, the DTMF-signal takes too long.
I have the following in sip.conf :
dtmfmode = rfc2833
which works well for Grandstream, Yealink and Cisco phones. But not for
Snom.
Snom support tells me I should use SIP info.
Is it possible to have something like this :
dtmfmode = rfc2833, info

SNOM 200 can't conference.
Hello,
Does anyone know how to conference a call on the SNOM 200 phone? Whenever I push the cnf/tran button it just hangs up on the active call. The manual says you have to push the cnf function key but it doesn't appear in the lcd on my phone.
Thanks

advantages of a sip phone over Wildcard TDM400P solution
Hi,
after finally getting my testsystem to work well I'm planning to buy
some hardware. Now I was wondering what the advantages / disadvantages
of using a Wildcard TDM400P solution over using real sip phones like the
snoms is? The only thing I came up with is that the Snoms can use a LDAP
adressbook on the server. What about calling a sip adress like
person@server.com. Can this be done by

Snom 360 Phones - Administrator/User Feedback
I'm looking for some feedback on the Snom 360 phone. After deploying six of
them to an office, I'm not as enthusiastic about them as I was when I was
testing one before the deployment. The firmware seems to be consistently
buggy, some of its problems are intermittent which makes it frustrating to
troubleshoot and the support from Snom is lackluster to say the least. I
find myself favoring

Macro's and Var Scope's
Hi,
I am having difficulty getting my record phone call dial-plan script
working. I have tried the example record call scripts but they start
recording before they are actually connected to an end point, e.g. you
get ringing or announcements being recorded.
It seems to me that these are bugs with the Dial() command:
1) Using M(x) in a dial command does not allow argument to be passed.

where to buy a SIP phone or adapter in SFBay area?
I'd like to buy a SIP phone from a retail store, or from
a local computer store in the south bay San Francisco area.
Can anyone suggest a place from which I can make such
a purchase?
So far, I've only found online.
Thanks.

Sayson IP Phones?
Have the Sayson IP phon started to deliver yet? I'm thinking about two
new phones for my office and considering the Sayson 480i and Zultys
4x4. Would also consider the Virbiage phone if it becomes available. I
have Snom 200s and a Pingtel phone at the moment.

Phone compatibility list
Hello!
Is there a phone compatibility list anywhere? I know Asterisk is
supposed to be compatible with IP phones that support SIP, h.232, and
IAX, but a list of phone known to be supported would be a nice addition
to the documentation. I need a buisiness phone, and the Cisco is
_EXPENSIVE_ I like the 3com 1102, but it is NBX phone, and I can find
no documentation of this phone working

Best "Console" phone?
I'm looking for recommendations (good/bad!) on what people use for a
reception console type of phone. So-far I've used Grandstreams and Snoms,
both have good and bad points.. Not after anything too fancy -
programmable "extension" buttons would be nice, good display essential...
(Brief background, I have a proposition for a 120-extension setup, but

"Best" VoIP provider for Asterisk?
Hello!
I would like to get connected with a VoIP provider for home. At some
point, I'm sure I will be connecting to it via an Asterisk box, but for
now, I will be using whatever hardware they provide.
What recomendations do you in the Asterisk community have for a reliable
VoIP service that will hopefully interoperate with Asterisk? A company
that is actually willing to work with an

Best phone for easy provisioning
Does anyone have any recommendations for a phone that has easy to
understand/implement central provisioning? I've used CISCO 79XX phones,
and they're great (but too expensive). I like Grandstream phones, but
their provisioning sucks.
What is everybody else using in large environments where individual
config is not an option?

Snome-200 with Asterisk
hi
We are using snome 200 IP phone with *. It works OK. But after a period of time we can't hear any sounds for any icoming or outgoing calls. I've got two of these phones. Same symptoms occur to both of these( not at the same time ) and the problem remains until the phone is completely rebooted. Don't know whether this's * or Snomes' prob. Any help would be appreciated.
