My recomendation is that you first set an estimate as to how much you want to spend per phone.. If you want to spend less than $100 then the best bet for you is the Grandstream BudgeTone.. I phone I recommend for the cost concious buyer.. and it works well with Asterisk, Would be nice if it had GSM or iLBC support.. If you want to spend $100 - $500 I would recommend the Snom 200, A nice looking phone with a very good feature set and GSM codec support.. If you are happy to spend more than $500 per phone then you can look at the Cisco's which are very pricey but have the most features.. Hi everyone, I have to test few models of SIP IP phones with Asterisk. I have seen on voip-info.org that there are lot of phones that work ok with Asterisk. But, I want to ask for suggestion - which models are the best for Asterisk? I would appreciate if I can choose 4-5 models for test. I finally figured out how to create accounts and actually login with some sip boxes and softphones, but how do I make it so they have designated numbers just internally, err extensions i should say. So if I had a user bob and bill, how would I set them up in config or how do I setup the context they will be set too to give them unique numbers. Thanks a lot for the help! -chad -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I am looking for a loud ringing SIP phone. I am presently using the Polycom and just cannot loud enough to hear it over the din in a collocation room. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Why don?t you use an ATA device with a loud regular phone and/or hook up one of those really loud ringing devices you can get at a phone shop? :-) Just a suggestion. Hi All, How can I be able to define multiple SIP extensions? Do I have to define each extensions on sip.conf? For example, extension 2000-8000, do I have to define it one by one on sip.conf? [2000] secret=2000 type=friend username=user2000 .. .. [2001] secret=2001 type=friend username=user2001 .. .. .. .. .. [8000] Is there a way I can define multiple extensions like... [_2XXX] .. .. .. [_8XXX]

Hi, I wish to set up a simple network of about 20 SIP phones. This will be a stand alone VoIP network, without any links to the internet or standard PSTN networks. For SIP phones to work, one needs a SIP server so I thought that Asterisk might be a good choice. Does anyone have a list of SIP IP phones that have been tested with Asterisk and known to work reliably? Also, when making a SIP call, does the voice bearer also pass through Asterisk, or is it just the SIP call setup that passes through Asterisk? If the voice bearer passes through the Asterisk box, is it possible to record every voice call? James
