Hi! I''m new here! I downloaded shorewall because I want to set up a firewall and Webmin already has a module for it. (I love Webmin!) When I went to start shorewall I got the message that it needs ip. I''m running Slackware and apparently ip is not included with it. Would somone please help me out and let me know where I can download ip from? Thanks. Jim
Hi Jim, the webmin module is old, and so it doesn´t work well (or even not) with actual shorewalls. Better do it by hand. vi is your friend :-) Alex ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Balcom" <jim@jimbalcom.com> To: <shorewall-users@lists.shorewall.net> Sent: Sunday, October 17, 2004 8:06 PM Subject: [Shorewall-users] IP> Hi! > > I''m new here! > > I downloaded shorewall because I want to set up a firewall and Webmin > already > has a module for it. Oh, sorry. Read your mail only half. you need the iproute2 package. If it is not included you can get it from ftp://ftp.inr.ac.ru/ip-routing/ But what I said about the webmin module is still valid. It''s in the /extra folder, top level of the version trees, in 8.1 - 9.1. It''s been moved into the slackware/n set with versions 10.0 and -current. Regards, -- Patrick Benson Stockholm, Sweden

I tried several versions from the source, but compiling kept erroring out on arpd.c. But then, I noticed that it did make an executable for ip and ifcfg. I put them into /usr/sbin and shorewall seems happy, and that''s all that I wanted to accomplish. Thanks! -= Jim =-

I learn by doing, and I was looking for something that would play right out of the box and then I would tweak it and alter the settings as problems arose. Thanks for helping. I appreciate the prompt and helpful answers. -= Jim =-
