What does invalidate is that he has no numbers! He just fired a few applications and counted the seconds, this is utterly pointless. No reference to how many times he ran, standard deviations,

Plans for buster

Thanks for doing all this work. I have just sent it to experimental. I did some reviewing and diffing. I have some comments, or, at least, things I noticed. None of them were IMO blockers for experimental.

Preferred Ruby Editor/IDE for OS X?
Just a quick question, if I were tired of typing ruby into a terminal editor, say I wanted, oh, a scroll bar, mouse support, and maybe syntax highlighting? Anyone know os a good Ruby/Rails editor or IDE, one that runs on OS X, possibly in Java? -Josh ----------- Due to the recent increase in spam and falsely sent email, I now PGP Sign all of my outgoing mail to prove my identity. question about wording of puppet''s use of classes.txt
Hey, I''m curious about the phrasing of a bit of the structures documentation, and what it means for puppet''s behaviour. http://reductivelabs.com/projects/puppet/documentation/structures.html says: All classes set on a Puppet client are stored in an external file (usually /etc/puppet/classes.txt, but can be modified with the classfile argument or setting). While it's certainly true, it's no different from any other analysis/transformation. What *is* different is the claims that clang -ffast-math is producing less precise code, than <insert-...

win32-process 0.3.1 is out
Hi all, Just wanted to let you know that I released 0.3.1 last night. This addresses Bug #712 and incorporates Patches #1087 and #1137 (thanks Aslak). I''ll try to get an open4 implementation out this weekend, though I noticed that Aslak''s patch is different than what Park originally had, so I''ll have to decide which I prefer, or if they can be blended somehow.

How to make Vorbis popular
...and not widely used these days. I've been thinking about this... MP3 is so popular because people can download music for free (and thus pirating music). I recommend Vorbis to everybody I know, but most of them refuse to even try it because it's not popular (or because they are hardcore MP3 zealots), which results in a circle (little people use it because it's not popular, but it will not get popular because little people use it). Yet DivX 4.0 (which is only a marketing name, and has nothing to do with the "old" DivX), gains popularity day by day, even though it wasn't not u...

Plans for buster
Knorrie and I just discussed our plans for sid and buster, on the phone. Here's my notes of the discussion. Plan is to upload Knorrie's 4.11 packages to experimental, to make them more public, while we fix the bugs in them. There's a list of Salsa issues and the BTS bugs list. This duplication is not ideal. We agreed that new things should go to the BTS. For now we'll keep

MIT vs GPL vs LGPL for open source project
I intend to release a project I wrote with Rails. What is the right licensing scheme for a web application (content managing system) which could grow with plugins and add-ons ? Personally, I would prefer the GPL but does that mean any add-on to the CMS (like task management) will have to be GPL ? If some people contribute to the code could it still be double-licenced so that the people who
