Where to obtain (how to build) small enough workable kernel?
Hi folks, I'd have guessed that would be a very FAQ but I could find no mention on http://syslinux.zytor.com. The latest version of syslinux leaves 860 kb on a 1.44 meg floppy. The current 2.6 vmlinux from Redhat is 3.3 meg. I downloaded kernel-BOOT-2.4.20-27.8.i386.rpm from red hat, as this is a kernel they "recommend" from booting from floppy. In the boot dir of this rpm I find:

Is building a load balance setup like this workable?
Okay, before anything else, all I'm using samba for is a "Windows looking" frontend to cups. Eg, so the users don't know I'm getting rid of the windows 2003 printserver and replacing it with a pair of linux printservers (Samba/Cups) I'd like to have 2 (or 3) printservers, all the same build of linux (debian), cloned, etc. users will be able to go to \\printserver

About arm32 address translation
Hi Ian, I am trying to add supporting dumping 32-bit guest on arm32 to see what happened in my dom0 kernel when booting. It seems gvirt_to_maddr() is not workable under arm32. But why has it been implemented both in include/asm-arm/arm{32,64}/page.h? Thanks. [LLVMdev] Portable I/O
I'm attempting to use file I/O across platforms from LLVM assembly using the standard GNU C library: fprintf(), stdin/stdout, etc. Ideally I'd like to simply provide a single bitcode file that could be compiled on each platform, but because the internals of the I/O on each platform is different, this is not currently workable. So my question is this: How do you suggest doing I/O in a

RODBC query on one line
Dear R-helpers, When I use sqlQuery in the package RODBC, I cannot break the line, but have to write the entire SQL Query on the same line. Is this expected behaviour? It is definitely workable, but makes the queries a slightly difficult to read and edit. I'm using R 1.9.1 and RODBC 1.0-4 on Windows Server 2003 and querying a Sybase database. Best wishes, Mikkel

Multiboot and machine trust accounts
I have client running windows 2000 which is part of a domain with a samba (2.2.3a) server running as PDC. Authentication works fine. On the _same_ client I have added a partition that boots into Win XP, it has the same machine name. However I cannot get it to join the domain. I can use the administrator account to look at objects on the pdc, but when I try to create a user account I get a

Ethereal plugin for IAX2
As mentioned on the devel list earlier today, I'm interested in writing an IAX2 plugin for Ethereal to make debugging IAX protocol implementation and simultaneous calls on normal networks easier. Anyway, I started work on it this evening, so it's not complete yet, but it's starting to look quite sensible: - http://raq626.uk2net.com/~al/ethereal.png A couple of people have

Internet Explorer and wine 20050930
I've managed to install Internet Explorer 6 using wine-sidenet-config, since it won't work just by type "wine ie6setup.exe". I had to copy the fonts to c:\windows\fonts from a working windows installation, otherwise you won't see the characters. The problem now is that ie can't reach sites like www.google.com. I've read that you should install dcom98 before that,

Functions within functions in R and S-Plus
Sorry to bother you about a S-Plus related problem, but I hope someone can help. I have tried to "translate" some code from R to S-Plus (I have colleague that insists on using S-Plus. And yes, I have tried to make him change to R...) The following code works out fine in R, but in S-Plus (S-PLUS 6.2 for Windows Professional Ed.) I get the error message "Problem in est.theta(x):

[Patch] Fix cirrus and rt8139 co-exist issue
Keir, This patch fixes cirrus and rt8139 co-exist issue in new qemu-dm. The root cause is that if two MMIO spaces are continuous, qemu may misuse last MMIO space''s read/write to handle current request.
