range support / stream seeking not supported by Winamp 5 and WMP 10?
Hi,
I was just checking out icecast-2.2.0. You guys have done a great job yet
again!
I was interested in the range support / stream seeking on static files,
since that would be a really useful feature for my clients.
Range support / stream seeking seems to work with RealPlayer v10, but not
with Winamp 5 or Windows Media Player 10.
Does anyone else have this experience? Is there a way to make it

Frankly, the only reason that I'm even considering relaying WMA9 is
because a large number of listeners to the streams may not be all
that technically savvy and WMP comes with XP - I'd like to prevent
having to ask the users to download another player if preferable. I
don't have very much experience with WMP 9 or WMP 10 etc. Forgive me
if this is a silly question, but can they stream from mp3 audio
streams? If so then I wouldn't have to...

MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Hi Everybody,
It works with Peercast because Peercast receives the headers from Icecast2
and sends its own headers back to the client (Winamp, WMP, Real...).
Remember that Peercast is a client AND a server... I guess Peercast doesn't
send back the headers in the same way than Icecast2. Maybe Peercast doesn't
use ICY/X-audiocast.
Talking about Real (v9.0 and 10), I already got the metadata displayed from
Icecast but I didn't check...

MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
.... It's weird because you are
the second person on the list who doesn't get it working in Real... I just
tried again with "BEK_dns" and "Radio Alcanzando Naciones" the 2 first MP3
radios I found in the stream directory and everything worked perfectly for
Real (but not for WMP).
In RealPlayer, I clicked HELP->About RealPlayer to check my version: it's
the "version 10.0, Beta Build 6.0.12.687"
Now I don't know if BEK_dns and Radio Alcanzando Naciones run on Icecast1 or
Icecast2.
Cheers,
MAX

...shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutcast-
playlist.pls?rn=4219&file=filename.pls
Shows "CLUB 977 The 80s Channel (HIGH BANDWIDTH)" in WinAmp. But this
is due to the "title" set in the .pls and/or provided in the http-
header.
When I open http://64.236.34.97:80/stream/1040 directly in WMP 9, it
also shows the station-name provided by "icy-name" in the header and
the genre without problems, it seems.
So WinAmp seems to have general icy-support. But maybe it doesn't
support updates sent in the data-stream but just information provided
in the http-header?

Illiminable DS filters for FLAC don't work
At my company we have a bunch of music in FLAC format. We want to play
it using the Windows Media Player, but none of us can get the
illiminable DS filters to work. Here are some details.

Vorbis streams on Windows Media Player
I was under the impression that Tobias's Direct Show filters would allow
Windows Media player to play Ogg Vorbis streams, but after testing it
here, apparently it doesn't. Does anyone know if there is anyway of
making WMP play vorbis streams?
The company I'm involved with who will be creating thousands of internet
stations will most likely need WMP to play the streams, since it is the
most used player software. I know most of you are
anti-Microsoft/Windows, as I am, but this really needs to happen as soon

WMP and streaming
Hello,
I've successfully installed Icecast 2.0.2 and Ices 0.4, configured and
started them. The logs show no errors, but while I'm able to stream to
Winamp 5, it doesn't work with WMP 9 or 10. The latter simply downloads the
file and even halts when it reaches a certain point.
This is the mountpoint's URL:
http://www.zambra.com:8080/musica
Has any of you experienced this behavior before?
Thanks for any hints.
Best regards,
Miguel

hrmm..It works for me using winamp 5.05 and WMP 10. What type of file are
you testing with ? The winamp plugin doesn't work perfectly in some cases
(it gets a bit confused sometimes with VBR files), WMP 10 works perfectly
however. Do you get a seek bar in winamp/WMP when playing on demand
(static files) ?

WMP blues :^(
Hello Everybody,
I'm having the strangest problem getting WMP 10 to stream from my
icecast server.
I'm currently serving two streams - one is a 128kbit/s mp3 stream,
the other is a 32kbit/s mp3 stream
Even when explicitly declaring the stream type to be http in
icecast.xml , the 32kbit/s stream buffers *VERY* slowly (it takes
about 3-5 min) in W...

DShow Filters - "Play to" support in WMP
...rsion 0.85.17777) don't allow for flac files to be streamed over
DLNA from Windows to DLNA devices (like a TV set with WLAN).
I use Windows 8.1 64 bit and while Play-to works with mp3 and other
"natively" supported files, it does not works with flac files. (I can
play them locally in WMP, just not send them over DLNA),
Is there any solution?
How much of changes would be needed to the dshow filters to allow this
functionality?
Or is the problem somewhere else?
Regards,
David

WMP mp3 stream trouble

The mp3 files are piped to ezstream 'stdin' and out to the web with

again.
It works fine with iTunes, RealPlayer, Winamp5.x, VLC, Whamb, but not WMP!

I'm having a problem with WMP and icecast 2.2.0. When people try to connect it buffers the feed really slow and people never go get audio.
I've tried connecting over the LAN and it does the same thing.

Ogg support in Windows Media Player 9 and WMP Media Library
Greetings all,
I've got some questions and news (I think) regarding the Ogg
DirectShow filter, and Ogg support in Windows Media Player
and the WMP Media Library.
The OggDS that's in CVS -- is there any reason it's only
at the 0.9.9.3 level and not the 0.9.9.5 level that's on
Tobias's webpage?
After downloading the 0.995 version and digging through the
Windows Media registry, I think I've found a combination of
settings...
