[PATCH] sched: provide scheduler_ipi() callback in response to smp_send_reschedule()
...ork of try_to_wake_up() we'd like to push part of that
onto the CPU the task is actually going to run on, in order to do so we
need a generic callback from the existing scheduler IPI.
This patch introduces such a generic callback: scheduler_ipi() and
implements it as a NOP.
I visited existing smp_send_reschedule() implementations and tried to
add a call to scheduler_ipi() in their handler part, but esp. for MIPS
I'm not quite sure I actually got all of them.
Also, while reading through all this, I noticed the blackfin SMP code
looks to be broken, it simply discards any IPI when low on...

Proliant on a 6500
Sorry to reply to myself, but I wanted to expand this to -stable and add
some more info...
See the original post at the bottom of this msg.
I just took the Smart 2/P and put it in slot1 (one of the shared Eisa/PCI
slots.)
Now the Dmesg output shows the "SMP: AP CPU" lines in a different order...
They were:
SMP: AP CPU# 3 Launched!
SMP: AP CPU# 1 Launched!
SMP: AP CPU# 2 Launched!
now they are:
SMP: AP CPU# 1 Launched!
SMP: AP CPU# 2 Launched!
SMP: AP CPU# 3 Launched!
I don't think this is a SMP problem, but rather a SMP/Smart2 combined

FreeBSD 5.4 SMP kernels now available via FreeBSD Update
It sounds like the SMP kernel I provided for FreeBSD 5.3 was quite
popular, so I've started building an SMP kernel for FreeBSD 5.4 as
well, in addition to the usual GENERIC kernel. To take advantage
of this on your FreeBSD 5.4 SMP system, run the following commands
as root:
# touch /boot/kernel/SMP
# freebsd-update...

yum update question and kernel-smp-devel
I have a local yum repository for CentOS4, and from time to time I add
new (custom) kernel RPMS.
However, when I run 'yum update' on an SMP box, yum 'installs' the new
kernel, kernel-devel and kernel-smp packages, but 'updates' the
kernel-smp-devel package.
i.e. I end up with multiple versions of the kernel, kernel-devel and
kernel-smp packages, but only the latest kernel-smp-devel
What do I need to do to get the k...

SMP/PCMCIA
I have two sacrificial lambs -- one is an SMP box, the other one''s a
laptop, but I don''t see kernel-smp or kernel-pcmcia-cs packages.
So, can I use the ext3 patch on an SMP box or a laptop?

yum updates
...te my cluster servers to a newer kernel. As the
csgfs stuff is not updated for 2.6.9-34.0.2.EL yet, I have to use
2.6.9-34.0.1.EL.
If I specify to update the cluster packages, yum will automatically
find the proper kernel package to meet the dependency. The problem is
that I also need the kernel-smp-devel package installed so that I can
build a new AoE driver. It doesn't get installed via dependencies and
I can't figure out how to install it manually.
Hints anyone?
How can I install kernel-smp-devel-2.6.9-34.0.1.EL via yum? Can I
grab the rpm from somewhere and do a local install?...
