rxml vs rhtml
I have been wondering if anyone here knows which format is faster for your templates? I am curious cause in the near future I may be using some expensive scripts (timewise) and would like to try and squeak out as much performance as possible. Is Ruby like other languages (ASP classic for example) that inccur a penalty by switching between HTML and Ruby Code? Ben -- Posted via

Help Connecting server districts
...am working on a project to unite several local school districts. We will have 14 different districts, every district would have their own asterisk box on location. We all have fiber lines running to a central location at our isd. This provides connectivity to all the districts. 1. would it be wiser to install a asterisk box at the central location of the ISD and have all asterisk boxes register with that? or would it be better to create a mesh- network of registrations. If so can this be acomplished easily using iax or dundi? What would be the best way to link all of these boxes together s...

Continuation and parse
Hi gurus, After an unsuccessful scrabble through the documentation and Jon's excellent search facility, I am no wiser as to how R recognizes an incomplete command line and politely raises its hand for more. The help page for parse gives no indication that it does anything more than spit the dummy when fed an incomplete command line, but something in there must recognize such ellipsis. Any hints? Jim

How to save a Gnome screen layout on CentOS 6.5 after logging off?
...me I log in, it's there when I log in as an unprivileged user. That's because I can save the layout the way I want to; there's a checkbox for it to save the layout upon exiting. I see none for CentOS 6.5. So, my X-terminal isn't there when I log in each time. Clue me in, oh people wiser than I... LMTP during dsync migration
Hi all, Another question regarding migration. While migrating a mailbox with dsync is it safe to deliver mail via LMTP to the new (target) mailbox or is it wiser to deactivate LMTP delivery to this mailbox until it's fully migrated? And what methods could I use to stop delivery to a mailbox during migration? Our user data is stored on an LDAP server. Cheers, -- j.hofm?ller http://thesix.mur.at/ -------------- next par...

Logging Login Attempts
...his is logged in syslog. If they guess a working user name, then the attack has PARTIALLY SUCCEEDED, but this information is IGNORED. That is, it is not logged. If the zombie army has tell when it has found a working user name, then it might concentrate on finding its key, and I will be none the wiser. I will not see that happening. I can get this info by turning logging to DEBUG, but then it is very noisy. I do not understand why failed attempts to login to my account are not logged. Why is this, and how do I get it fixed? Thanks! -- Perry

(slightly O/T) Agile dev. contract form for clients?
...ification" and "change request procedure" and so on. I was wondering, how do other people get around this in contract forms with their clients? I was thinking of just reverting to a standard consultancy contract, but not sure if that will cover all our bases. Need help building combined model
...continious and ranges from -1 to 5, and the other is boolean (i.e. true or false). For example: V1   V2  V3 V4 V5  V6 0.1  0.4   1    0   -1   3.7 0.4  0.1   2   -1   0    3.7 and V1  V2  V3 0     1    0 0     0    1 I want to make a model for classification, combining this two. Will it be wiser to use the second variable values converting 0 to -1 and 1 to 5, the two extreams. That is, if absent assign the lowest value (i.e. -1) and if present assign the highest value (i.e. 5) Example: V1  V2  V3 V4 V5  V6  V7  V8  V9 0.1 0.4  1    0   -1   3.7  -1    5    -1 0.4 0.1  2   -1   0    3.7 ...

Samba 3.2.0-pre3 packages in Debian - version of Samba in Debian lenny
...ble for Ubuntu Hardy users (untested, though). You might want to replace "unstable" by "hardy" in /etc/apt/preferences, then. News about Samba in Debian lenny -------------------------------- Debian lenny is due out for September 2008. From the news we currently have, it seems wiser to stick with 3.0.28a rather than a quite disruptive and uncertain 3.2.0.... This is currently the plan of the packaging team for Samba in Debian (and Ubuntu). We will do our best to offer 3.2.0 packages for lenny on the backports.org server. Ubuntu Hardy will have 3.0.28a and the same is likely...

cvsup with tag=. on src and upgrading (in general)
...has it and it looks like it's for 4.X. Did I do something wrong with the cvsup file? Next question has to do with upgrading. I have 4.6 src installed, but I cvsup'd RELENG_5_1_0_RELEASE. Does jumping several releases/sub-releases like that cause problems? Or, in other words, is it wiser to do incremental upgrades? --Richard Schilling

multiuser rsync environment
...everything when the person between two uploads change. So if my colleague made the last change to the server, the next time I am rsync-ing everything needs to be synchronized again (which is of course expected, but still annoying). Is there some elegant option to combine subversion + rsync in a wiser way in order to upload only the changes with altering users? Best, AS
