Printing via smbprint to a WinPrinter
Hi all.
I would like to print from a Linux Server to a printer connected to a Windows ME machine. I'm able to connect via smbclient, with
smbclient //windowsme/printer -U '' -N
and I receive the smb> prompt
Now, when I try to print any file, nothing comes out from the printer. The printer is a Canon LBP-810 which, according to
www.linuxprinting.org site, is a WinPrinter. My

OT, hardware: new router and a USB winprinter
Well, the router I've had for some years now, that I had DD-WRT on, borked
itself. Went out and bought a new one, an Asus RT-AC66U. Now, I've got
this 11 yr old cute HP Laserjet... and it's a winprinter. With the version
of the DD-WRT I had, all I had to do was send the magic M$ data to it, it
would wake up, the lights on the printer telling me that it was installing
that.

Doubts about sharing a winprinter
Hi there,
I own a domestic lan with two computers, mine and my mother's one. Mine is called GREENDEMON and the other one is called BLUEDEMON and they both are configured to run on the REDLOCAL workgroup. I've Debian Woody running on GREENDEMON and Windows 98 running on BLUDEMON, with an attached Nec Silentwriter Superscript 610 printer. This printer is only compatible with Windows 9x

time to say good-bye to win 7 / printer is the last blocker
I have picked up the HP LaserJet 1022n on eBay. It is black and white only, but works well with Linux and all versions of Windows I have available. They are generally inexpensive on eBay and the tone is cheap. I can get 4 toner cartridges for around $25 on eBay. It is small, dependable, and makes a good second printer. Most printing is usually black and white. I actually have 3 of them

Savin Copier Print Processor
I have FreeBSD 5.3 running on an Sun Ultra 10. I installed Samba 3.03, from patching SWAT now says version 3.07. I am having an issue printing from Windows through Samba to Savin copiers (model 9935DPE and 9945DPE) when downloading the Windows drivers directly from the [print$] share. When I print a test page, the orientation of the lettering is correct but the letters are gibberish. The

printer frustrations
I've got an old HP LaserJet 1018. It's a winprinter. After I bought a new
router (to go inside the Verison one), I plugged it directly into my box (ok,
via a hub). I run CentOS 6. Before we went on the trip, I could print, I
upgraded my system, and this is the first time I'm trying to print... and no joy.
I've tried sending the firmware to it via lp -o raw ... -h :9100, and

GDI Printer problem
Hi,
we have a new printer here (OKI C5650). It's a GDI printer
attached to our cups server. I installed the windows driver
as root on the print share without any problems.
However it's not working. When a user maps the printer
only a message appears "printing not possible".
So I looked at the printserver and compared everything with
a local printer on my XP notebook and found

Q: Samba & CUPS & Win Print Processor
Hi all,
I have a problem while trying to migrate print services from a Win server to Samba 3.0.23c on an old FC 4 box. The Samba box is part of a AD domain, with spoolss enabled:
<snip>
security = ads
domain master = no
local master = no
preferred master = no
disable spoolss = no
use client driver = no
</snip>
On the Linux box, I also have Cups 1.2.12 (self-compiled) running, with

Unable to print with the Wine PS driver
I'm trying to get Wine to print through it's PS driver, without success, on a HP DeskJet 694C, configured on Linux with the cdj670 driver.
What I get to see on screen after I attempt to print are three windows with exclamation marks on a yellow triangle and garbled text. The
first window is titled "Printer name", the second "Device name", the third "Output".

Asterisk, HylaFax and Cardiff
I'm looking for a way to use our implementation of HylaFax on Asterisk with
Cardiff (an old installation of Cardiff document stuff).
Is someone doing that?
If no one has direct experience, is there a HylaFax client that emulates
WinFax print-to-fax?

LPR to windows lpd question
Hi All,
I am trying to print from a CentOS 5.3 server to a windows LPD
service. After enabling the LPD service on Windows and creating a LPR
port to a particular printer when I execute the following command on
CentOS server I do not come out.
lpr -H winprint:515 -P printer1 file.txt
The above command does not exit. Do I need to configure anything on
the server to be able to use lpr as a client ?

HP USB printer accepts jobs, but won't print
My HP USB C3180 All-in-one printer accepts jobs, but does not print.
A job simply sits in the queue.
I haven't used it on this computer for a while.
It will print a test page when I connect it.
The last line from hp-info -i

Any ideas on how to diagnose this?

SWAT issue
I have had a RH5.2 server running Samba up for a long time. I upgraded to
Mandrake 6.0. It broke Samba, so I reinstalled using the RPM on the CD.
Samba works just fine, but SWAT will not! If I try to start it manually
(/usr/sbin/swat) it just hangs.
In /etc/services I have a line like this:
swat 901/tcp
In /etc/inetd.conf I have:
swat stream tcp nowait.400 root

nicely, all my file shares set up, etc.
I've got 6 printers that I need to set up as print shares. The ones that
speak Postscript or PCL were very easy to set up, and work admirably.
However, I've got some WinPrinters as well as some unknown-format ones
which I would like to get working as well -- I realize I won't have the
luxury of being able to print from Linux on these, but surely I should be
able to set them up to simply pass, untouched, anything printed from a
Windows client (which would have the appro...

Error when trying to print with point and print installed drivers
I have an Ubuntu Sever 9.10 setup running Samba as a PDC for a bunch of
Windows clients.
Everything is functioning perfectly except for the point and print delivery
of printer drivers.
I have tested this with Ubuntu 9.10's Samba (3.4.0) and two of the Debian
Samba packages (3.4.3 and 3.4.5). All seem to demonstrate the same problem.
*What works:*
Adding a printer and manually installing the
