DarWine & OpenGL
Hi, For the past 3 months I have been trying to get wine working well, but have hit several obstacles. I am on a Mac 10.5.7, using X11 2.3.3.2 from Xquartz, and using Kroneberg's Darwine builds. The issues: I can't seem to get OpenGL working or DirectX. I sometimes have problems where I launch an exe, and the program runs as if it cannot "see" any other files in the same folder.

First crack at this! Could use advice on a few questions...
...;m trying to use wine to run a program called Bit Che. it runs to a certain point and then just freezes... sorta. The program is a windows torrent search app, that searches all the major torrent sites at once for whatever "LEGAL" torrents I'm looking for. So I tried running it with winehelper first... and it froze once I asked it to search, then I tried from terminal and it froze that way too, so I need to troubleshoot to figure out what is causing it to freeze and how to fix it. I've attached my log from terminal and winehelper as well to see what can be done, thanks! Terminal Lo...

Mac Wine.app Launcher
Hey, I'm running Wine 1.1 on OS-X Leopard, and am trying to figure out how to tell Finder to open all files with a .exe extension to open with Wine. The only way I can think of is to create a new .app folder with just enough information to link to the actual Wine executable. I took apart the .app package of jEdit and replaced all references to jEdit with ones for Wine, then symlinked the

Darwine: Running an SDL game
Hi all I'm trying to play the game "BOH" (http://www.bohthegame.com/) on OS X using Darwine. I downloaded 1.1.19 and dragged the Darwine folder to /Applications. Then I opened the BOH installer using WineHelper and installed the game. For some reason it put the installed files inside the WineHelper application bundle. When I tried to open the game's executable using WineHelper, it appeared in the Process Window then disappeared again, with no information entered in to the Wine Log. I tried moving the...

Strange: Application starts up only when Wine is force-quit
I have used Wine for Mac (Darwine 1.01) on my Leopard 10.5.6 for some time. It's generally been running my Windows programs well. But now I have a problem: I install a language dictionary program and it only starts up and runs when (and only when) I right-click on WineHelper icon on Dock and choose Quit, and then again but this time with Force Quit. In other words, the dictionary application works once WineHelper is closed. What I have done so far: - re-intalling X11 driver but this doesn't help. - adding X11 values in Registry (for I can't see X11 Driver i...

Helpful Hints for OS X Users (Idiots Guide?)
...p may seem silly, but this was the key to making everything work for me. Before trying to launch Darwine by calling a windows application, we need to launch Darwine on its own. Go to your Applications folder, open the Darwine folder and launch Darwine. From the Menu at the top of the screen, click WineHelper and then click Configure Wine. The computer will appear to crash, but it is running a process in the background. Simply leave it for about a minute, maybe two. Don't change any settings, just click save, and close the window. Click on the WineHelper button again, and this time click on Prefer...

Question concerning creating .exe shorcuts.
Hey guys, I was curious about something. When Wine installs a program, that creates a shortcut after installation, it is usually placed on the desktop (as it would in Windows). So how I can create the same type of shortcut which will use the .exe's inbuilt icon; as Wine does? I know how to create a shortcut but i'd manually need to search for a .png file to use as that shortcuts icon.

Wine Mac OSX Questions
So I have an Intel Mac and I'd like to run a couple Windows apps on it. I looked in the Mac OSX working programs wiki, but it doesn't have any of the programs I want to use listed. I checked AppDB, but it doesn't have Mac tests for any of them listed either. I was wondering if anyone has had experiences with MS Office 2003 or 2007 or Steam on Mac OSX (Leopard) with Wine. Thanks.

Firefox 3 Darwine Errors
Just completed a fresh install of Darwine 1.0b and Xquartz to fix some application issues and discovered when I downloaded and installed the Windows version of Firefox I get the following series of errors. This is a partial log since the errors just continue as long as Firefox is open until either WineHelper crashes or Firefox crashes. I have manually downloaded Flash from the adobe site, it helped slow down the rate of errors a bit. I've also installed several of the winetricks but no change. Any ideas? fixme:system:SetProcessDPIAware stub! fixme:iphlpapi:NotifyAddrChange (Handle 0x62d1a56c, ove...

Darwine issues
I am trying to use darwine 1.1.7 on 10.5.5 and am having issues. I downloaded the package from thisismyinter.net and is doesn't run anything, including the sample winelib applications. However, when I use the version from http://www.kronenberg.org/darwine/ it runs just fine. I have XQuartz 2.3.1 as well. This started recently, I can't remember what did it. Here is a link to the output when

Noob problems with Darwine
...talled darwine 1.1.9 on my mac. I've read all of the tutorials and forums that I could find but I'm still not able to solve my problem. I imagine I must be missing something that's so obvious that it doesn't even make its way into a tutorial. I can't run programs. If I start winehelper and try to run a program (say regedit.exe) I get the errors at the end of this post in the log: The app was started from the applications folder, not the fake c: drive. Am I missing some files? Any advice on what I'm doing wrong? TIA, err:module:DelayLoadFailureHook failed to delay load...

Mac Darwine "Open With" file suffix association
...via the Get Info dialog for the .lvp file and set Open With to the application, but because the app is hidden in .wine/..., the Open With dialog can't see the app, even with AppleShowAllFiles set to True. I tried moving Darwine to a non-hidden folder, but that didn't work (Darwine's WineHelper put it back in .wine), and even then, having the .exe sitting unhidden didn't allow the Open With dialog to select it b/c it's not a .app. Suggestions? Thrilled with Darwine so I don't have to open Windows in Parallels just to hear voice mail. Stephen

Mac Darwine
...open an .exe app on the Mac so they'll run it via Darwine? > >I just successfully installed Darwine and then made a desktop alias to the Avaya Voice Mail Player by showing all hidden files in the Finder, using Make Alias, and copying that alias to the desktop. > Associate them to the Winehelper application. If you are using Darwine, this should automatically happen as it does on my Mac using either Mike Kronenberg's or Zach Drayer's downloads. James McKenzie
