FXO Issues
All, Experiencing some issues on my FXO lines. If a call comes in on an FXO and then get transferred to another FXO (say to call someones cell phone), those two lines will stay tied together indefinitely. This happens to us when we transfer an incoming call to our on call guys after hours and on weekends. We have installed 3 other * boxes and they do the same thing. We use a Adit Channel bank

APC Smartups protocol - Hidden Programming Mode
...y this at home - your might damage your UPS when changing some parameters ** The output of the ^Z command does not change. You can leave this mode with the turn dumb ("R") command. ^Y Clear Everything Every possible alarm ** Don't do it. ** (Programming mode only) Resets everything: Voltmeter calibration, model information, region code, manufacturing date, serial no... Chances are that your UPS will become unusable. True stroy: After typing ^Y, my UPS was unhappy with the line frequency (50Hz instead of 60Hz), the voltage of both line (0V instead of 110V) and battery. Consequence: it sw...

Tripplite UPS

My Back-UPS RS 1000 went haywire, any ideas?
...onnected. I used upsc to see what is going on, and ups.status was "OB DISCHRG", battery.charge was slowly decreasing and input looked like this input.sensitivity: medium input.transfer.high: 264 input.transfer.low: 194 input.voltage: 182.0 input.voltage.nominal: 230 I took an external voltmeter and made sure that actual input voltage is around 223 V and is not changing. However, each successive run of upsc indicated drastically different "input.voltage", arbitrarily jumping from 160 V to 280 V. Besides this, no other values seemed abnormal. Is this something that can be fixe...

Tripplite Smart 2200 and Battery Voltage
For my Smart 2200, a charged battery string is anywhere between 25.6 and 26.8 volts. I'm seeing nut report 13.0 volts, which seems suspicious. Even if the UPS were reporting half of the actual battery voltage to keep protocol compatibility with models having a 12V battery system, the value of exactly 13.0 seems unlikely. According to the page at

MGE EllipseMAX 1500 shuts down after a few hours
.../openmediavault.local >The battery charge drops suddenly when the UPS shuts down. Maybe I am completely wrong but this behaviour rhymes quite well with a faulty (old) battery which reports being charged but actually cannot really hold the charge. I suggest taking it off and verifying it with a voltmeter , preferably while having a consumer connected as well ( like a good old 12V incandescent light bulb, as those used for cars i.e. 25-45W or so ) Wolfy

Can I tell if it hung up due to busydetect or disconnect supervision?
...ause it's worked on Dialogic cards, which reported hangup, not busy detect (while when I connect a Dialogic card to a PBX, I have to measure the busy signal's frequency/cadence or it doesn't disconnect). I couldn't tell for sure - I don't have a phone with a light, and the only voltmeters I have are digital, no way to see if there is a drop to zero between the several volts when the line is offhook to the 47 volts when it is onhook. But * would only recognize hangup if I unplugged the PSTN line. Otherwise it would play my voicemail menu over and over if I hung up without choosing...

Logic problem in NUT with upscode2 driver
...ery is 6 volts and the bank produces 50 volts. The UPS monitors battery voltage and the battery charger in the UPS works like this. For about 2 days it will apply a charge/float/topping voltage of 55.2 volts to the batteries. During that time the battery voltage measures 55.2 volts both with a voltmeter on the batteries and as reported by upsc, and the "calculated state of charge" of the UPS is 92.7% (keep in mind that UPSes that are driven by upscode2 are unable to report battery charge, so per the man page the upscode2 driver synthesizes that value based on nominal battery min/max an...

Cisco 7960 Locking Up
Ok... I asked a question a few months back about a 7960 that a user claims to be "shocking" her in her ear from time to time. A few others indicated they had similiar issues and alot of them seemed to stem from power over ethernet. Here's what we've done... We replaced the phone, ran two new cat5 cables to a different switch, put in a power brick and disabled power over

Incorrect values returned from usbhid-ups
...port, it?s that one! I would hate to have servers running at 137V if they are supposed to be running on 120V. The output.voltage value of 137 reported is suspiciously near the input.transfer.high value. It has often been EQUAL to that. The good news is that the ACTUAL output volts as measured by a voltmeter is 120VAC. In addition... The device.serial and ups.serial are both all zeroes? battery.mfr.date is ?CPS? rather than a date string? battery.voltage should indeed be higher than the nominal of 24.0 if they are being charged? It appears that incorrect data structure elements as returned by the UPS...

Question about Tripp-Lite UPS life span
Hello, Somewhat off-topic, but seeking some input from other tech folk on this list. I have a Tripp-Lite SMART 2200 (a white tower that looks similar to, but predates the black SMART2200NET) that just failed its monthly battery test so I bought new batteries and replaced the old ones. Sadly once put back together, plugged in and enabled it did not power up--no lights, sounds, smoke, etc. I took

FXO Disconnect supervision
...As far as I can tell, most CO switches now seem to provide disconnect supervision by default on loop-start lines. Consequently, it can be difficult to find someone at telco who knows anything about it. ... As for availability on residential service, just check your current loop-start line(s) with a voltmeter and see if it drops toward zero for about 250 ms when the far end disconnects from the call. If there's no disconnect supervision, you'll see the voltage stay at about 7-8 VDC when off-hook, and about 48 VDC on-hook. [/cut] I can hear what sounds like a battery drop on my lines when the fa...

how to make asterisk drop battery on a FXS?
...a TDM400P (defined as fxoks in zaptel.conf), one of them dials the other with Dial(Zap/2), I talk to myself for a while, hang up either of the phones, and the phone that remains off-hook gets the congestion tone until it goes on-hook (at least as long as I've cared to wait). I don't have a voltmeter on the line, but if I'm hearing the congestion tone, there's battery, right? The reason I want to drop battery is that I want to connect some FXS lines to an old IVR system, and if I dial the IVR and hang up, the IVR doesn't notice. Another possibility is to see if I can change either...

Faint background noise/crackle on FXS port on TDM400P
Hi, I have had this issues for ages but have ignored it, but my handsets get faint background crackle on the FXS port. When I connect the handset directly into my PSTN, it goes away complete, so I am generating this from somewhere in my asterisk box. I get it immediately when the phone goes off-hook and it stays through the dialing and call progress. I can't think of any other devices

TDM-400 doesn't detect far-end hangup
Hi: I'm using a TDM-400 to terminate PSTN lines at my Asterisk server with kewlstart signalling. When an outside caller calls the server, the TDM-400 goes off-hook and provides a ringing tone to the caller. If the caller hangs up before the receiving party answers the phone, Asterisk fails to detect the hang-up. The TDM-400 stays off-hook, hogging the line, while Asterisk rings the

Plain Old Answering Machine
Hi - I have an fairly vanilla answering machine (actually its a combo cordless phone/answering machine) attached to an FXS port (on a TDM400 Card). Everything is working as planned except I seem to be having a bit of trouble with the answering machine. After is answers it plays the outgoing message and then hangs up before letting the caller leave a message. (it actually hangs up before the

Dead Polycom ip500
Hi, I just got and setup a new ip500 yesterday and it worked for about 15 minutes. Then it froze during a reboot. Now, when power cycled, the logo comes on for 3 seconds and then the screen is blank and nothing further happens. 468* factory reset doesn't work. I am about to send the phone back, but wonderd if anyone had a suggestion first.

Effectively using a telco Type 102 Milliwatt Test line with ztmon itor -v to set txgain/rxgain in zapata?
I am trying to obtain optimum gain settings for a bank of analog lines connected to a channel bank. My telco has provided a 'Type 102' test line to use for incoming level calibration. This is functionally equivalent to app Milliwatt(), but provides tone from the CO inwards. Question is, how should one use this a 0dbm test source with ztmonitor? Am I correct in understanding that a 0dbm
