ut2004
I'm having problems with the mouse in UT2004. it appears that the desktop mouse and the game mouse are not locked together. when the desktop mouse reaches the right side of the screen and stops, the game mouse stops in the middle of the screen. moving the mouse back to the left, the game mouse stops at the edge of the screen, and when the des...

How about DiabloII (Lord of Destruction)?
I've heard of it running under Winex/Cedega (which is not Wine nor is it freeware) but not under wine or native...

Running a game in full screen mode?
UT2004 runs nearly flawlessly under Wine, and is about
10,000 times easier to install than its Linux
counterpart.
The only problem I'm having is running it full screen.
What's the command for that?
For example, is it something like:
$wine UT2004.exe --full-screen
I know --full-screen is the ri...

Call of Duty doesn't run properly + sound problems
...hat they were before the
crash and play quite fine.
So right at the moment I have to make Call of Duty crash and then start
it again in safe mode.
My Xorg-version is 6.8.2.
I am using latest ATI's proprietary driver.
I don't really know if this problem is wine related, but I also have
ut2004 installed which runs natively
under Linux and I don't have any problem with it.
Another problem is the fact that I don't have proper sound with Call of
Duty.
I am using winealsa as sound driver, but the sound lags nearly 1 sec and
sounds very bad.
wineoss isn't even working (complain...

Bryan... NOBODY CARES how many times Chris is wrong.
NOBODY CARES what you prove on this point.
Whether Chris is right, wrong or stoopid is NOT proper fodder for this (CENTOS) list.
Chris being wrong is *strictly* a "Bryan Fixation".
Part of YOU growing up is YOU realizing that whether Chris is or is not
wrong is UNIMPORTANT to ANYTHING that you or anybody important
to you think is

Resolution issue
...ent versions of wine, latest is 1.1.18.
workaround: i change my desktop resolution to the games one in gnome for example, the run the game in wine. wine will not change the resolution anymore and i will not get this issue anymore (which makes first person shooter unplayable).
but: 32bit games, like ut2004 or doom3, are running fine via 32bit libs, there is no problem with the resolution.
i also tried changing wine's resolution method to xrandr, but then there is only one resolution (my desktop resolution) avaible in my games. playing in an emulated works therefore fine.
i asked in the archlinux...

Speex
Dear Speex developer(s),
We are currently in the process of evaluating speech codecs for the
transmission of wideband speech (fs=16kHz) at bitrates lower than 32
kb/s. Speex is a contender for this task.
Practically we would have to port Speex to a specific 16 bit DSP if we
would go for this. We should be able to handle this.
But we would like to ask for your opinion regarding patent

Some simple questions
I'm being PHBed into a VOIP project, and Speex sprang to mind. Bandwidth is
going to be a fairly serious issue for us. With regards to a Speex
enc/decoder, I was wondering: Rick Kane and David Siebert have already asked
about this, but seem to have gotten very different responses - the former a
call to arms, and the latter a "well, if you do it, it'll get done." What's

...the reason Speex does not use ACELP.

Yes. Speex is shipped in large companies by companies like Google
(Google Talk), RedHat/Novel (and most other Linux companies), and many
game companies (e.g. UT2004). I've even hear MS's Halo 2 is using Speex.
There's many more I know about and probably even more I don't know about.
Hope this helps,
Jean-Marc

[PATCH 0/4] nvfx: rework render temps code and fixes
This patch series silences some unknown cap warnings and fixes up
coding style (patch 1+4).
The most important part of this series are the two patches in the
middle. They rework the state_fb code, so that we are able to
render to not 64 byte aligned targets, as this is the only real
use-case for render temporaries this allows us to drop temp code
completely and simplifies a lot
