Hi Richard and the list, you'll find attached a patch for 95-upower-hid.rules, which adds: - the "usbmisc" filtering, as added in your repo, - more comments, including one that points at your UPower repo, - 3 new manufacturers (Minibox, iDowell and Powerware) - a bunch of new devices (7 HP, 1 APC, 1 TrippLite, 2 PowerCOM and 2 Liebert) cheers, Arnaud...

UPower: 95-upower-hid.rules update
...he > full repo to update it. I'm not sure how useful the nut-usbinfo.pl script will be without the NUT repository: it scans the NUT source files for certain macros containing USB VIDs and PIDs. The NUT URL listed in the file <https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/commits/master/scripts/upower/95-upower-hid.rules> refers to the history of a checked-in version of the output of nut-usbinfo.pl. The file itself is two clicks away, but if it would help, we could include that URL as well. We're certainly open to suggestions as to how we can handle this better (the concept of checking...

How to disable hal-addon-hid-ups
I've tried several recipes found with google, but hal likes to grab the USB ups before nut can get it. There are a number of klugey workarounds, like turn off port power until ready to start nut (so that hal doesn't see the UPS). Or killall hal-addon-hid-ups before starting nut. Here is one of recipes I googled: https://github.com/sdgathman/trippfix/blob/master/halpolicy.fdi It

DeviceKit-power
My UPS Powercom WOW-1000U does greatly work with NUT, but not auto-cofigurable... This UPS is not usb-hid ups, and works well with this settings in NUT: [powercom] desc = "powercom" driver = powercom port = "/dev/serial/by-id/usb-POWERCOM_CO.__LTD._USB_to_Serial-if00-port0" type = IMP lsusb -v fragment attached. Unlike other UPSes, gnome-power-manager does

Update on gnome-power-manager
The FAQ mentions how to configure nut to pass the power information to HAL so that gnome-power-manager can display it, but HAL has been depreciated and removed from Ubuntu since 2007. Has nut been updated to worth with UPower instead?

naming a new Mac OS X UPS driver
I've been working on a meta-driver that tries to address one of the difficulties of using NUT on a Mac OS X system which has built-in drivers for several USB-connected UPSes. On a stock OS X system, after you plug in a system-supported UPS, a new "UPS" tab shows up in the "Energy Saver" system preferences panel. Basic status information is presented there, and
