...that attitude, nothing would ever be fixed. I understand you are frustrated, but feedback and bug reports are one of the best way to help open source projects. That?s what I thought, and it may still be true. Unfortunately, feedback, bug reports and even fixes and improvements experience so much unkindness or ignorance in their reception that I?m better off finding a different solution or fixing the bug myself, with very few exceptions. IIRC, Matthew who started this thread gave an overly perfect example of, mildly said, unkindness, on the Fedora mailing list. All the more it is surprising to s...

Installing CentOS - user feedback
...would want one branch or the other. Should I just leave CentOs to the experts? I really wish that on the home page there was a specification for "user level". Do developers assume that the user is expert, and that someone who is not qualified will get exhausted and go away? It seems very unkind to make that assumption and not say so. If I am not the intended user, please tell me! Otherwise, could someone please explain how to choose which version of CentOs to use? If you could forward this letter to someone who can take the time to answer my question, I will be grateful. <<

Non-linear curve fitting (nls): starting point and quality of fit

The nls method doesn't give an R^2. But I want to determine the quality of the fit. To understand how to use nls I read "Technical note: Curve fitting with the R environment for Statistical Computing". In that document they sugge...

Timestamps
Anyone knows how to keep coherent timestamps on files put on a Samba share? We are experiencing strange results if trying to do that. We would like to be sure that the timestamp of the files put on that share matches exactly the time of the file under NT4 or the time the file was put there. For the moment, it is not the case (although from time to time they seem to match). -------------- next

Perhaps issues like this haven?t been considered yet, that?s why I?m providing feedback as was asked for, after finding out that the form they have prepared to get feedback doesn?t allow to do so. I?m aware that this is feedback they don?t want to hear and will either ignore or encounter with unkindness. Perhaps I?m entirely wrong and misunderstanding what they?re trying to do, yet so far nobody has said so.
