[Weft QDA users] Weft on Ubuntu -- Ctrl-shortcuts NOT working?
Hi -- have just followed Christophe''s notes to get Weft QDA up and running on my IBM Thinkpad T20 w/Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake). Am just going thru the manual and trying various things, as I''m new to qualitative analysis AND new to QDA tools. Anyway, one thing I''ve found is that many (and maybe ALL?) of the CTRL-shortcuts mentioned in the documentation are not working for me. In particular, I think I''m probably going to be wanting Ctrl-M for marking text, and Ctrl-A to select all of the text in a document. Is this just a problem with my configuration or something I''ve done wrong, or is this normal for the Linux version? Also, as regards marking text - the doc mentions that this will cause the text to be highlighted in some way in the Windows version -- is this a great advantage? Or disadvantage for the Linux version? Not having used this type of software before, I''d assume that I''d WANT to see this type of highlighting, but maybe not. Any comments? If the CTRL-stuff and the highlighting work better running under WINE, what''s the procedure for getting that to work? I''m a relative Linux newbie, so please be gentle... =o) Thanks! -paul ____________________________________________________________________________________ Fussy? Opinionated? Impossible to please? [Weft QDA users] Weft on Ubuntu -- Ctrl-shortcuts NOT working?
Dear Paul, I''m having the same problem (and CTRL+A is a big problem!), and had this with Ubuntu 6.06, 6.10, 7.04. Unfotunately under wine the problem remains, and I still don''t know why. Alex, there is any news connected to version 2.0?Can we download a beta version and test it?In my understanding release 2.0 will change a lot and maybe some issue we are having can be solved. Unfortunately it''s a bug in a piece of software that Weft 1 relies on that stops this working on Linux.> Alex, there is any news connected to version 2.0?Can we download a > beta version and test it?In my understanding release 2.0 will change a > lot and maybe some issue we are having can be solved. >Well, the good news is, I tried out both highlighting and shortcut keys on current Ubuntu on version 2.0 and they work fine. The less good news is that version 2.0''s is still some way from usable, even as a beta. I have been working on it but in a piecemeal way as almost all my own research over the last year has been quantitative. However I''m just about to start a more qualitatively-oriented project which I hope will give me some time and motivation to move it forward. best wishes alex
