Synch group with different gid
Hello I have a problem while synching between two NAS boxes with Linux. First NAS: group staff=50 (3.0.3pre1) Second NAS: groups ftp=50, staff=500 (rsync 3.1.1) I synched with -rptgo, without --numeric-ids. The expected result was that the items on the second group would be staff as well even with a different gid. However it looks like the 50 was taken literally and now all staff items are ftp items. 1. How could this happen? Is this expected, did I do something wr...

how to synch multiple servers?
Is there a way to synch multiple servers at once so when one is changed, samba updates all the other servers at the same time automatically? -- View this message in context: http://old.nabble.com/how-to-synch-multiple-servers--tp28019825p28019825.html Sent from the Samba - General mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Synchronize Unix/SMB passwords with 'synchpasswd'
Hi, It's been a while since I created my smbpasswd file, and therefore it is no longer in synch with my Unix file. I've added and removed users over time, and now I need a way to update the 'smbpasswd' file without losing the encrypted passwords that are already in place (ie. I don't want to just run 'makesmbpasswd.sh' again). So, I've written the

Synching samba passwords to W2k passwords
This is a quick question.....Is there any way to allow W2K users access to a share on a linux machine without having to have synched passwords between samba and W2k...(maybe just leave the password field for samba blank?). A while back we had Novell servers and were constantly worrying about password synchs, is this going to be the case with RedHat as well?

TAPI and Asterisk
...SugarCRM and probably others are doing. Today I was asked by an existing client if I knew a way to synch their mobile device contacts with the system in some way so that they would have quick access to speed dial or otherwise call up a personal directory on their (Polycom) phones that could be synched in this manner. It struck me that the Polycom directory interface is a bit kludgy for such things, having no search capability and no sorting capability once loaded that I am aware of. Given the meeting last week it seems that a more elegant solution would be to link Outlook itself with Asteri...

Kernel Panic - Not synching Machine Check
This server was running fedora core 2 till 12/2/2005. It had an impressive uptime of 180 days or so. On friday I upgraded to CentOS 4.2. After upgrading to CentOS 4.2 this server has been throwing kernel panics every 10 hours or so. These are some of the error messages I am getting on the console: "CPU 0:Machine check exception :4 Bank 0 : f672100000000833 TSC 112180365ccf ADDR e2c7f7c0

How to synch entire dir???
...about this but it had no answer. How do you exclude entire dirs??? I have RTFM, RTF FAQ, RTF Mailing List Archives, and still I can't figure it out. ugh. I am using this: rsync -avz -e ssh --exclude=/Stuff /home/user/Data/Docs/ remotePC:/home/user/Data/Docs/ but "Stuff" is always synched. The actual path to "Stuff" is: /home/user/Data/Docs/Stuff I have tried: --exclude "/Stuff/" --exclude "/Stuff" --exclude "/home/user/Data/Docs/Stuff/" --exclude=/Stuff --exclude=/Stuff/ --exclude=/Stuff/* --exclude=/home/user/Data/Docs/Stuff etc, etc....

Loosing synch between party 1 & party 2 voice in monitor recording
Hi We have come across a situation where we are loosing synch of party 1 & party 2 voice in call recording. Here is the scenario Party 1 initiate a call to Party 2 using AMI commands When both calls are connected, we bridge these 2 calls. Then we start recording of this bridged call using AMI Monitor command. Monitor command is invoked on Party 1 only. Then we put party 2 on hold. We

rsynced files "collecting" blocks?
...#39; Size: 2039 Blocks: 8 IO Block: 4096 regular file I am not entirely sure if it is a problem of rsync (2.5.6, linux i386 2.4.20+) or perhaps of the file system (ext3, normal mode, with ACL support), but the problem _exactly_ concerns to those files and directories that are synched via WAN. Synching happens nightly, in one direction (always the same), but sometimes we abort (kill rsync) it for bandwidth reasons. The problem does not concern other files including those that are regulary synched via LAN. Is this a known problem (did'nt find anything in the archive)? The...

Fixtures, Postgres & Constraints
Anyone have any tips for handling postgres constraints when using fixtures to load the database, other than to sort out the proper insertion orders or leaving the constraints out? I''d prefer not to do the former since I''d rather use my app to generate my fixture data (using a dump_fixtures task) and I''d prefer not to do the latter because leaving out constraints till the

Roaming profiles on a small network
...s a linux-based fileserver on my home network (I have to use windows for my main machine and laptop!) Im having great diffiuculty synching the data, email, etc on my laptop and desktop, so I thought I might configure samba to act as a DC and use roaming profiles to make sure that my data is always synched. My question is this: is it worth the effort? Do you have any experience of doing so? Im not talking about a huge network here, literally just 2 machines. Obviously I couldnt log onto both machines at once, and Id have to be sure to log on and off with the laptop after a trip away from base so...

Soft link trouble with rsync on SGI
Rsync v: 3.0.1 OS: IRIX 6.5.28f HW Plat: SGI 2400 Disclaimer: I am running rsync 3.0.1. It's difficult and costly for us to get new versions put on our system, so I'm hoping you will all help me out anyways. If the solution is indeed suspected in a later version of rsync, then we will go through the pain to get it installed.
