softmodems bank for ast.
Hi.
We need a full featured modem bank 20+ to attend data calls.
IAXmodem only supports fax protocols because spandsp only support fax protocols.
The idea is to do a IAX wrapper like IAXmodem but with a full featured
(but propietary) softmodem library like PCTEL or linuxant.
I hate astribank+hardmodems solution.
Some body think that is possible?
Sorry for my horrible English. ;)
Bye.

Softmodem.
Hi,
I have this idea:
In almost all notebooks there is a softmodem DATA/FAX that is unusable under linux (because the driver are only for Windows).
It's possible thinking to use wine + Windows driver to solve this problem?
Thanks.

PCI modems
Hi all,
I'm currently searching for a PCI modem that will be used to receive faxes. I've tried out a few modems but they all use conexant chipsets, which need out-of-tree kernel drivers and currently doesn't work here (kernel oops when the installation script modprobes the driver).
Does anyone know of a PCI modem that works out of the box with in-tree kernel drivers?
Thanks,

Questions on X100P/X101P cards
...I'm looking for a dirt cheap solution for SOHO use to handle at most
a couple of POTS lines, and I notice that X10?P cards go for $15 on
eBay as opposed to $90 for an OpenVox card or over $200 for a Sangoma.
I have a couple of questions about those cheap FXO cards:
1. Are they all glorified softmodems, ie. none has an on-board CPU or
DSP and outsources all processing to the computer's CPU?
2. Are they all bad, no matter what chipset is used (Intel, Motoral,
Ambient)? If not, which offer good enough quality to handle a single
POTS line?
3. Why are they often bad quality? Because the driver...

What is the stack size?
I am installing the hsfmodem drivers for my ALI 5457 softmodem from
http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/downloads-rhel40-i686.php
The following warning is supplied:
*Note:* The default stack size in original Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.0
kernels is only 4K. Because some drivers require more stack space to
operate properly, we recommend using a kernel with a larger stack size

Asterisk on IBM Netvista 2800 8364-EXX?
...to use a PCI TDM card (The OpenVox
A400P01 clone of Digium) to handle incoming PSTN calls, and possibly a
couple of conference calls with MeetMe?
BTW, am I correct in understanding that the difference between TDM
cards and the X100/X101 cards is the same as between controller-based
modems and win/softmodems: The former is self-sufficient since it has
a CPU, while the latter is cheaper because it outsources signal
processing to the computer's CPU?
Thank you.

process_sdp: Multiple audio streams are not supported
Hello folks, I'm running 1.8.11 on a Centos 6 system with an adjacent

Noticed this in the Asterisk log when trying to send a fax from

[Zaptel] Why no driver for PCI voice modems?
Hello
Considering how cheap PCI modems are compared to even the cheapest
PCI hardware from Digium, OpenVox, Sangoma, etc.... I was wondering
why Zaptel can't be used with those to connect an Asterisk server to
a POTS line for low-level use? It just seems overkill for SOHO users
who only get a few calls a day.
Is it because those modems are usually Windows-specific, and it would
be too

connecting asterisk to hylafax via t38modem: is it possible?
Hi,
I'm trying to use Hylafax without a modem. Is it possible to use
t38modem to make Hylafax send and receive fax via Asterisk?
If yes, how? I'm searching on internet but still haven't found anything
useful.
TIA

Conexant fax/modem not faxing with sendfax
I finally picked up a "real" modem (not a winmodem) and put it in my
machine. I pulled down the hsfmodem driver from the source, got a license
and installed the driver at full power.
If I use wvdial, I can get out through the modem, so I know that works.
However, sendfax is rejecting the fax capability (from
/var/log/sendfax.log):

Voice Modem + Soundcard Driver
The problem with using Voice Modems is that they fall into two categories:
1) Hardware Modems which only have half-duplex transmission of voice
2) Soft/Win/Lin modems which are proprietry and don't have asterisk drivers
Please shoot down this recipe before I waste any time trying to acheive it:

Too many errors sending and receiving faxes with an analog fax

I'm trying to send fax between zap fxs channels. No way to get it

fixing them would be welcome.

Is the X100P a WinModem?
So I've been on the Asterisk list for a long time. Mostly looking to set
it up as a cheap alternative to a commercial MeetMe bridge, as a for-fun
project.
I keep noticing the Wildcard FXO X100P sorta seems like a Winmodem.
Winmodems are basically a sound card chip tied to a pots port, where the
Winders driver takes on the MO/DEM functions in software. I've always
despised them as a data
