This is NUTS!!
...urchase the required maintenance contract so as to gain access to the download area for the files/images. -WHAT A FRUSTRATION!!- CISCO says, "Purchase it from your reseller/dealer." OK. So I call my reseller/dealer and he is having the most difficult time getting this $8.00 product, CON-SNT-CP7960, for me. It is just not worth the time and effort for him. So here I am, a week later, and no CP7960. It looks pretty though!! Can anyone recommend a speedier way to get this CON-SNT-CP7960 from CISCO???? Thanks Ferg

Cisco 7960 Support Products
I just tried to order the CON-SNT-CP7960 part from CDW. This is the ~$8 1yr support contract that's supposed to give access to the Cisco download site for firmware for the 7960 . wellll, I got a call from CDW saying that Cisco wouldn't authorize them to sell that product to me. The sales rep conferenced me in with the CDW...

Cisco Support for 7940, Is this Right?
...sday! Got a 7940G off eBay to tinker with and, per the wiki, contacted Cisco about a service contract. Being just little ol' me, they won't deal directly and blew me off (I hate dealing with Cisco, Nortel, etc as a small-business person...) Again per the wiki, I hit CDW.com and found CON-SNT-CP7960 for $9.14. Looking for support for the 7940 (not 7960), I just changed the part number to CON-SNT-CP7940 and it found an entry but had no description. Called them (via Asterisk and a VoIP carrier! too cool...), explained what I wanted, was assured that their $9.18 CON-SNT-CP7940 entry was...

This was in May - after a quick search of their website, I don't see that part listed today but I think I had trouble finding it on the website even back in May. shorewall dynamic zones confusion
...ully using shorewall in our K12 school since the 2.x days initially on Mandrake and now on Debian. Because of that my config has got quite complicated. The firewall has a working MultiISP setup with four interfaces (I''ve renamed them with udev to easy their identification): lan-if, dmz-if, snt-if and dnt-if (one of the providers (the one on dnt-if) is a DSL provider, and thus there is a ppp0 too) and five zones: loc, dmz, okt, kag and net (okt and kag are for special organizations at our site, connected to dmz-if). Until now I''ve used blacklisting to control the students Interne...

how to swap CTRL and Caps Lock in console mode
Hi ALL, I am not able to find the file which controls the keyboard mapping. I would like to swap CTRL and Caps Lock keys. NO, thhere is no problem with X11. That part was easy to fix. I've commented out one line in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. I would like to swap the keys in __console__ mode YES, I've modified the file /lib/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty/us.map.gz It did not make any difference. Cisco Support Agreements
Hey all, I am trying to get the Cisco SIP image loaded on my new 7960. The Wiki and several emails in the list archives say the cost is approx. $8.50 per phone per year. The problem I have is the Cisco is giving me part number CON-SNT-PKG1 which costs $90.00. I believe this covers phone support as well. I don't want the phone support, only the software. Does anyone have the part number for software upgrades? (the $8 one referenced on the Wiki) Thanks, ~chris

RHEL4 - which yum version?
I'm looking at this document to convert RHEL4 systems to Yum and setup an updates repository. http://sial.org/howto/yum/ Which version of yum would you recommend for that? What would be the dependencies that need to be installed? Any guidelines for installing Yum on RHEL4 without breaking the RPM dependencies and stuff (and with minimal changes to the system)? The document recommends

Re: Obtaining Cisco Firmware painlessly and LEGITIMATELY?
...I asked for the equivalent and they said I needed a ?20 contract. I said fine but after 20 minutes or so got a call saying I couldn't have that one as it didn't give me access to the firmware downloads. They told me the SMARTNet contract that would give me access to the downloads is CON-SNT-PKG1-VS. This comes in with a price tag of ?56 ( $100 ). It has been 6 weeks since I purchased the contract. Still no news! and no access! A WARNING TO THOSE WHO BOUGHT THEIR CISCO PHONE SECOND HAND ( EBAY etc. ) If the phone was registered with cisco before you bought it and you want to get a...

Filelist caching
Hi, I've noticed every time someone does an rsync-request on my ftp-site (which also provides rsync as mirror method), rsyncd creates a filelist. This is a quite IO and CPU intensive procedure, especially for things mirrors like FreeBSD with lots of little files. I was wondering... is there a way to cache that filelist? Our mirrors are updated once, or twice a day, it could speed up

Re: Obtaining Cisco Firmware painlessly andLEGITIMATELY?
...ur needs. I have yet to get the Cisco working because no one seems to want to sell me the SIP firmware upgrades! I have talked to many vendors, including CDW, and they tell me that only US Federal Government and international customers can order that well-known part number on voip-info.org (CON-SNT-CP79[46]0). I am happy to pay for the full USA service contract to get the SIP upgrade, but NO ONE WILL SELL IT TO ME! They all say they just don't have one, including CDW. Cisco told me to go find a vendor, but couldn't provide me with a list! If anyone can suggest a vendor who will s...

Can't Route LAN Traffic Behind Tinc Network
I have a 4 Node Tinc VPN setup with 2 nodes on my LAN and the other 2 outside the LAN in the cloud. Everything has been working great for about 5 years now, until today when I decided to move one of the nodes to another box. I basically, copied over the /etc/tinc folder to the new server and also moved the /etc/network/interfaces file, so that the new server was an exact mirror (more or less).
