perl question
I am trying to run a perl script that said it needs Net::SMPP
I ran this:
your_host]# *perl -MCPAN -e shell*
cpan shell -- CPAN exploration and modules installation (v1.76)
ReadLine support enabled
cpan> *install Net::SNMP
seemed to work. no errors reported.
however when I run perl I still get the same error saying needs

Error with Ultima Online Installation
Hello all,
I have been trying to install Ultima Online: Mondain's Legacy.
Unfortunatelly it hangs with Install Shield. The problem I am having is
the same one stated as FIXED in WINE's Application Database
(http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4266). I tried installing
DCOM98.EXE but it made no difference (and I am not sure that it
installed correctly). I also tried changing windows

Question about wine 0.9.2 and VideoLan Media Client
Hi! I just installed wine 0.9.2 on my Linux system and tried installing
VLC 0.8.4 for Windows:
http://www.videolan.org/
The installer ran fine and VLC even started! I was able to open a WMV
file but when it started playing back, it crashed:

setup.exe from "Marco Polo Großer Reiseplaner 2005/2006" stops
Hi!
I'm trying to use "Marco Polo Gro?er Reiseplaner 2005/2006" with
Wine 0.9.13 on Gentoo Linux. To use it, I ran travel\setup.exe
from the DVD and the setup just stops, before the "real thing"
starts. Please see http://www.myimg.de/?img=BildschirmfotoWinedesktopSeaa8.png
In the terminal window from which I started wine, I get:

Myst IV Installer breakage
Hello!
The game "Myst IV - Revelation" by Cyan Worlds / Ubisoft installed fine
in earlier versions of wine (although it was and is not playable).
Recently I tried again, and the setup crashed just before the copying of
files would start.
I was able to isolate the patch that caused the regression (with git
bisect). Here is the commit message:

MDL ISIS Draw 2.5 + AutoNom2000 in WINE = need help
Hello,
I have successfully installed MDL ISIS Draw 2.5 (a program used in
chemistry) under Wine (0.9.12 in Debian). Now, I need to install an
addon (AutoNom2000, which is used to give IUPAC names of compounds)
for this program. (This addon requires Windows 2000/XP; Wine was
configured to "mimic" Windows 98 by default).
When I try to run its installer, I get the following:

winelib runs but wine ok.... Why??
Hi all,
I have a small program (~10k lines) that just uses elementry API (like
SendMessage). It compiles under Borland C++ Builder 5.5.1 (for win exe)
and under g++ with winlib. The problem is that the Builder EXE runs
perfectly with WINE __BUT__ the library built with winlib does not run -
spits out a segmentation faul @ line 400 (whatever that means) and some
Error 139 with nothing else.

Orphaned rsync process on remote machine?
All,
Sometimes when I do an rsync, it times out and leaves on orphaned
process on the remote machine. I am running rsync over ssh using
public key authentication. I synchronize about twenty-five machines,
and this problem only appears on one of them. It worked until
recently on this machine. I don't know what changed or what is
different.
I run rsync with a command line like this

CRITICAL_SECTION hang my application
Good Day, dear wine users :) .
I am the developer of program, which must work under Wine and Windows. it has two threads, and these threads use one function to add text to Rich text box. When they try to add texts in parallel, a mixed text appear. So I decided to use critical section. When main thread tries to add text, the text adds perfectly, but when the second thread tries to add text - it

debian testing: Problems with R function vignette()
Hola!
I am on debian testing, all updates up to date. I am running R via emacs
and ess, so I canot know if this is an R or emacs/ess problem. What
happens is that I want to read an vignette, and calls something like
vignette("mle2", package="bbmle")
the pdf file opens (for me in Foxit reader), no problem, but then emacs
starts to spew a lot of spam, interfering with the

How to get IE6 stable?
Hello,
I installed IE6 with both WineTools and IEs4Linux (under different user
accounts).
Most of the features work, but IE often hangs. Then I can only kill the
process.
Has someone got IE6 stable under WINE?
If so, which WINE version do I have to use and how shall I configure
it?
Thanks in advance,
Colin Finck

Newbie with BibleWorks
Hi all,
I'm a complete newcomer to Wine and hoped to be able to run a Windows App out of
the box: BibleWorks7. It installs (standard Installshield) although it shouts
about a lot of 'fixme' stuff in the process.
On trying to run the program, it looks as if it going to start, showing its main
windows including some hebrew/greek fonts, but puts up a "Register Now?"
