Cisco 7941G & Auth
Hi, I use Asterisk-1.4.22-3 (on Trixbox) and I have a problem with Cisco

is that Cisco phone isn't authenticated on Asterisk.

Help with upgrading 7960 SCCP to SIP
I've got a Cisco 7960 that I'm trying to convert to SIP. Here's what
"Firmware Versions" says:
App Load ID:
P00305000300
Boot Load ID:
PC03M030
Version:
5.0(3.0)
The files that I have are:
P003-07-1-00.sbn
P003-07-1-00.bin
P0S3-07-1-00.loads
P0S3-07-1-00.sb2
If I put "P003-07-1-00" in OS79XX.TXT, the phone tries to tftp
XMLDefault.cnf.xml. I've tried every imaginable <loadinformation>
parameter, and can't get the phone to actually grab the image, it just
keeps redownloadin...

Converting Cisco 7961 to SIP
As part of a project to move a clients Cisco phones to SIP to work with an Avaya system, I'm taking a Cisco 7961 we bought and adding it to our Asterisk setup. Now, I've gotten the firmware files from the site, the latest version is 8.4 which contains the following files:
apps41.8-4-3-16.sbn
cnu41.8-4-3-16.sbn
cvm41sip.8-4-3-16.sbn
dsp41.8-4-3-16.sbn
jar41sip.8-4-3-16.sbn
SIP41.8-4-4S.loads
term41.default.loads
term61.default.loads
Now I've read over loads of documentation on it, but am getting tripped up. Most of what I've seen talks about the older firmware versions usually...

Cisco 7970 + New Firmware (8.2)
...you all know there's new firmware to mess around with!
Also, to note, to get the phone to actually take this upgrade, and
you're running your tftp server on a linux box, then you will need to
rename one of the files for it to find it properly.
# cd <tftpdroot>
# mv jar70sip.8-2-0-55.sbn Jar70sip.8-2-0-55.sbn
Calls in and Out work, though the phone still shows that dreaded "red
x" next to the extension saying it's not registered. MWI is also still
not working with 3 or 1 in the MWI indicator slot in the .xml file.
And no, I won't email you the firmware, you need...

Order of methods for optimx
...optim rounds automatically
using "Nelder-Mead" and "BFGS" methods
I find a huge time difference using system.time() based on the order of
these both methods:
> snb # "Nelder-Mead" and "BFGS"
??? user?? system? elapsed
1021.656??? 0.200 1021.695
> sbn # "BFGS" and "Nelder-Mead"
??? user?? system? elapsed
3140.096??? 0.384 3139.728
But optimx() with "Nelder-Mead" and "BFGS" stops in local minimum:
> o_mu2p1$value
[1] 2297.557
whereas "BFGS" and "Nelder-Mead" stops in better model...

[Asterisk-Dev] Cisco 7970 SCCP Configs.
...the head version of Asterisk with the chan_sccp from berlios.de
dated 7th August.
The compilation of chan_sccp seems to have worked without any problem,
however I'm pretty sure the problem I have is with the config files in

With the 7970 I got the following files:-

CVM70.2-0-0-112.sbn
Jar70.2-9-0-117.sbn
TERM70.7-0-1-0s.LOADS
TERM70.DEFAULT.loads
TERM71.DEFAULT.loads
Now I've done configs with the 7960 using SIP without a problem and that all
works fine, however (and I've read through the lists and can't find a
reference to this) which file is th...

7960 help
I have 4 7960's that I am trying to get working but 2 of them will not
update to the SIP image on my tftp server like the first ones did.
i keep getting the error on the phone 'Defaulting CM to TFTP server' like it
isn't seeing the *.bin on the server.
are you supposed to have on of those for each phone? would be like cisco et
al to do something like that.
TIA

Cisco 7960 firmware upgrade promblems
I have a second-hand 7960 which I am attempting to upgrade to use a SIP
image.
The phone currently has a firmware release which doesn't seem to be listed
in Cisco docs - P003AM30. On reboot, it finds the tftp server and requests
the firmware image listed in OX79XX.txt correctly, displaying "Upgrading
Software" on the screen. It then continues to re-request the same image from

7970 sip success
I managed to upgrade the phone to 8.2.2SR1 after renaming
jar70sip.8-2-2ES1.sbn to Jar70sip.8-2-2ES1.sbn but the phone would
continually say "Registering" and the red X next to the phone icon. The
phone would eventually time out and couldn't make incoming or outgoing
calls. Then I disabled registering with the proxy with the following
line in the config:
