Live migration not permanent?
Hi,
I tried to do live migration from machine A to B. After the migration, machine A still had the record of the VM, though the VM was not running any more. Also, if I shut down the VM on machine B, its record on B would be gone --- I could not see it using "xm list" anymore. However, I can still start the VM on machine A using "xm start".
Looks like the migration just move

Rcmd_environ and R_LIBS_{USER,SITE}
..._SITE="c:/opt/R-library"
in $R_HOME/etc/Rcmd_environ even though I can seemingly set other things here?
It breaks "R CMD check" for me as I prefer NOT to install packages in a
versioned path.
FWIW, defaulting to a versioned path is (to this no-longer-bemused user) as
much a permenent R bug (on Windoze) as the default installation into a path
with spaces.

Major Digium Card Problems
Hi, I am having some major problems with 2 digium cards in two seperate
servers they are both TDM400P cards one has 4 fxo ports and the other
has 1 fxo port.
First problem, the card with 4 FXO ports is fine until there is a storm
in the area, then all 4 lines are massively static filled making phone
calls barely understandable until the system is rebooted or the zaptel
modules are unloaded and

Problems trying to run the examples in windows v orbis sdk
...gt;...
The work around for this problem is to include vorbisenc.c in the vorbis DLL
and not have a
separate, stand alone vorbisenc.dll. If you do this, then this problem
disappears. Obviously,
since the vorbisenc code is quite large, and a lot of applications will only
be decoding, this
is not a permenent solution.
This may have to do with how global data is treated in DLLs, which is that
each client gets a
fresh instance of the global data. The problem seems to be accessing
_time_P accross DLLs
(vorbisenc.dll accessing _time_P in vorbis.dll) I'm thinking of trying a
named data segment.

Getting data from the database only once
Hi,
I am a little bit new to ruby. I have a requirement that I need to
get the data from the database. I need to do this many times in the
whole application. But, I am looking for a way with which I can get the
data from the database table only once and store it in some variable,
and I can use it anywhere I want.(I am trying not to use the global
variable for this purpose). Is there a way

Adviced way of tagging music
I change a lot of my CD to Ogg to be able to listen them easily from my
computer (I use foobar, I was used to WMP but it does not support library
for Ogg files and plug-ins I found for this where poor) without the need for
frequent CD changing.
I like my music to be richly tagged. But with classical music CD it is a
real pain to tag those files. Typical problems involve:

Weird R Studio behaviour...
Hi,
Have a nice week. First of all, I know this is not R Studio forum but I want to ask here first, if you all do not mind. Well, I am away from my computer right now but, I have a strange problem (at least to me). My script worked perfectly for a year, and today, suddenly stop working because R Studio begins to warn me about illegal characters in the script.
System is on W 10, and R 3.4.1 is

HP Envy EFI problem after BIOS update
Hi Jim,
Thanks for this. I looked into what you said, and once happy I ran the
command you gave. It appeared to work as it did not come up with any errors,
and the output from efibootmgr showed
1) Centos had been added as an option and
2) it was the first in the boot sequence.
However, when I rebooted the laptop went straight into Win8, and after
rebooting back into KDE Live, the option is

Weird R Studio behaviour...
I think you should also update R to the latest version, as that *might* be
the source of the problem.
Other may be able to give you a specific diagnosis, but updating R is to a
(reasonably, at least) current version is good practice anyway.
Cheers,
Bert

I don't know if this additional information helps. Looking at he efibootmgr
output, is the centos entry pointing to the right place?
Also, any idea why the update isn't being make permenant?

gwidget position on screen
Hi guys,
I have a problem with the placement of my gwindow widget. When I start the
gwindow widget it is displayed near the middle of my screen but I want that
the widget is on the upper left side of my screen. Is it possible to define
where my gwindow pops up? And additionally, I want to focus my gwindow
permenantly. Is that possible, too
Thanks,

fail2ban
Hi,
I realise that one can simply start fail2ban and then it will insert its
own ruleset before shorewall''s ruleset. Are there subscribers to this
list having alternative (and probably better) ways to use both fail2ban
and shorewall?
Thanks,
Mark

HP Envy EFI problem after BIOS update
I have managed to boot into the installed Centos system, without using the KDE
live CD.
By pressing F9 when turning on the laptop, I got the choose boot menu. When
the menu appeared, it had the old Fedora install, the current Centos install
as well as the Windows install.
When I chose the Centos install it showed the GRUB menu and booted into Centos
without error. This confirms that the

Hi All,
I''ve been working on a client project where by the client can manage the

The idea is very much in development, but i thought i''d like to put it
out for feedback. The writeup is also pretty rushed so please excuse :0)

Problems trying to run the examples in windows vorbis sdk
I have just downloaded the vorbis sdk for windows, for researching purposes.
I have compiled the example 'encoder_example.c' just to start, and it
compiles, but I got a error in the following line just at the beginning:
vorbis_encode_init(&vi,2,44100, -1, 128000, -1);
The error is more or less: The instruction at '0xaddresss' referenced memory
at '0xaddress'. The
