Grandstream Quality Survey.... :P
Today class we are going to be talking about the wonderful line of GrandStream products. Or should I say BarbieTone phones? Who else is having MAJOR issues with the grandstream products? How many times have you been told upgrade upgrade upgrade? How many of you have paperweights, granted the phone is light as a feather and couldn't weight papers down in the first place? How about that ring tone, really dandy eh? Who else is irked about the the GAPS crap? It should slurp down cfgMACADDRESS.txt and we shouldn't have to pay more for that option. Have you had Mess...

processing of Fest in spatstat
...functional. Further, my panel can mysteriously disappear (with no recovery, it's KDE) and my screen saver does not work. Trying to use ANY other program is futile. I'm running spatstat 1.3-1 with R 1.6.1 on SUSE 8.0. If anyone can explain why Fest results in my computer becoming a large paperweight until it is finished with the batch or file or segment containing 'Fest' it is running (and it won't even indicate that it is done without my 'requesting' it to update the screen), I'd really like to know. My hubby, who introduced me to R, is fascinated with how often I can...

Cisco 7960 Firmware help pleas
...the # key. This should invoke the factory reset, followed by entering 1234556789*0# when requested, which will wipe the phone. Make sure that you have the appropriate image available as the next reboot will look for the OS79XX.TXT file, then image, which if incorrect could lead to an expensive paperweight! I would recommend going for a safe release (i.e 3.4), which doesn't require the 'application loader', so is less complicated and more easy to upgrade from. Hope this helps Robert -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://list...

X100P pass through questions
Hi all, Really excited to be using Asterisk and learning about VOIP and PBX's. I'm a complete beginner at telephony but have built and installed Asterisk 1.4.5 and read several of the Asterisk books online and have successfully connected to FWD with IAX2 and to GIZMO using SIP. Just purchased a Motorola Wildcard X100P and installed it into a clone PC running Fedora Core 6. Analog

Cisco 7960 upgrades
Hi, I got a problem of having to upgrade 35 Cisco 7960 phones from default firmware of 3.1 to 7.5. The problem I get is that when trying to upgrade I see on the tftplog that it can't seem to find the file (8 character issue). So I renamed the files to suit what is supposed to be in them. I am trying incremental upgrades from 3.1 -> 5.3 -> 7.5, with no luck. It goes to

(no subject)
Hi all, We have a client that needs to setup about 80 desk phones (about 50 in one location and about another 30 in 5 different locations). Which brand/model would you recommend. We were personally thinking in recommending either Cisco, Aastra, Polycom, or Snom, for we've heard great things about them. However, having no real experience with them makes it hard in recommending one to

Vonage Linksys Router - Life after Vonage
I setup a vonage account last year, and cancelled it last night when I put my asterisk box together and signed up for a Broadvoice account to use with it. Now I would like to use my Linksys router as an MTA, but realize it is still programmed with all of vonage's proprietary information and I do not know how to clear it. I understand that just pushing the reset button will not do it.

Incoming calls through SS7 for data modem transmissions - possible??
Hello, We are working on implementing a solution for a medium service provider. They were previously using a Cisco AS5300 gateway with some PRI trunks to receive modem calls, then route them out the Internet. The Telco they were buying the trunks to discovered this configuration and restricted them due to legal conventions, and stated that in order to continue doing this, they would have to talk

Linksys PAP2-NA
I receieved my first PAP2-NA yesterday from our distributor(Tech Data). It installed pretty easily and has worked great so I went to order some more of these units today. When I logged into Tech Data this morning, the PAP2-NA was now marked as discontinued and no longer available and only the PAP2 version was available which is the Vonage branded version. :( I saw someone on the list say that
