The only linux-based client that, if I recall, can speak native MS mail
protocols, was Evolution.
I don't know if it still does.

An 'orrible question: Outlook 365 under wine on CentOS?
Mark,
While we still run an EXIM service for the bulk of the company, I do have it
happily co-existing with a small (15 user) Office 365 setup.
Personally I am using a Centos 7 laptop but my emails are handled by
connecting via SSH to an old Fedora 8 box running KDE and KMail.
This connects perfectly happy with my Dovecot/EXIM local server and to my
Office 365 account also using IMAP/SMTP.

Yeah... and this is O365.
Stupid question: if I check out evolution... will it munge my thunderbid
email inbox or folders, or could it read them, and just create its own
indices?

Another big data size problem
...gets about 90%. At that point it locks itself in a uninterruptible sleep status (at least that's what top says) where it just sits there barely using the cpu at all but keeping its tons of memory. I've tried with read.table and scan but none of them did the trick. I've also tried some orrible hack like reading one line a time and gradually combining everything in a matrix using rbind... nope! It seems I can read up to 500 lines in a *decent* time but nothing more. The machine is a 3 GHz P4 with HT and 512 MB RAM running R-1.8.1. Will I have to write a little a C program myself to handl...

Plotting monthly timeseries with an x-axis in "time format"

Plotting tab with a simple "plot(tab,plot.type="single")" I'm obtaining a
graph with the x axis in an orrible decimal format so that,e.g., Jan 2006 is
2006.0 and Nov 2006 is 2006.8(33)!
Instead I would like to see the x-axis in a more human-readable format, for
instance, 12 tics for each year and a label at the beginning of each quarter
of the year: 2006.1, 2006.4,2006.7.

directx not found
Correctly installed Marvel Ultimate Alliance, already present in appdb as gold.
The installer complained that it could not install directx.
As specified in appDB I added d3dx9_36.dll to system32.
When I run the application it says:
"DirectX9.0c is not installed on this computer. Install it and try again."
I tried to play with libraries in winecfg but without luck.

I don't know the price - I've only been here a few weeks.
I'll have to check when I'm back at work for details on it - don't
have my VPN login yet.

Some diffs to libshout for MacOSX
Hi,
I'm part of a project developing the open source SndKit and MusicKit, which
are ObjC frameworks originally from NeXTSTEP, but now on MacOSX and GNUstep.
We use libshout.a in part of the SndKit to enable us to schedule and process
audio to get sent to shoutcast/icecast servers - pretty cool.
Anyway, when compiling libshout on MacOSX it fails because it does not have
sys/poll.h, but
