Automatic printer driver installation for NT4.0/NT2000 clients?
...een the PRINTER_DRIVER.txt doc on getting the PRINTER$ share set up to
automatically add printer drivers to Win95 clients. It explicitly says that
the procedure described does not work for NT4.0 clients.
I can't find any other documentation on setting up a PRINTER$ share suitable
for NT4.0 or NT2000 clients either in the distribution (2.0.5a) or the web
site.
Is this possible at the moment (2.0.5a)? If so how? If not when will it be
possible?
Thanks,

Is that message an important problem or I can ignore it?

Problems connecting to samba shares from w2k or XP system after configuring smb.conf file...
...ed encrypt passwords = yes & smb passwd file =
/etc/samba/smbpasswd
Changed browseable setting to yes under share definitions
Added a user to the smbpasswd file - smbpasswd -a user1
Made sure the smb & nmbd services were running
Created the same account and passwords on both the lnxsrvr and NT2000
domain
Can someone tell me what it is I'm missing here?
Again my goal is to simply have one share on the linux box that I alone
will access to place files in. I'll then log in to the linux server and
place these files in my web folder directory to be published. At this
point I'm not...

Samba authentication/authorization via LDAP
...n 100 users). There will be
multiple domains on this system (say foo.com, bar.com, ...) with the users
scattered between these domains. We want to use LDAP to authenticate the
users and provide authorization info. There are no Windows domain
controllers available. All client machines are either NT2000 or Windows
XP. No users will ever log in to the Linux box, and we don't even want to
create /etc/passwd entries for them (all user info should be maintained in
LDAP).
Do I need to use nss_ldap? Doesn't that module only provide a means for
the system to find user info in LDAP when the use...

Unable to browse
I have two problems running Samba on Solaris 2.51, Samba version 1.9.16p11. 1) When browsing the CADCAM group, which is where the Sun group is, the CADCAM name shows up on Explorer, but when I click on the group to browse the contents, the '+' disapears and the group apears to be empty. We can, however, map drives using \\sun01\sharname' directly.

One of the NT builds is getting due for a rebuild, but the other is
basically clean, it had never had the drivers installed, hadn't even
been involved with network resources, so I tried it from scratch
there. Same problem. Lazer, no problem. Inkjet: access denied.
On my NT2000 system, though, I can print to the inkjet. It was
clean install of the Epson sourced driver (the Windows 2K driver I
have installed for local printing has a different name so it didn't
recognise it)

...eated via the adduser script....
The basic topology is each office has a Workgroup domain and a samba server
that managed that domain however these samba servers forward authentication
to a master samba password server. This master password server is running
2.0.7.
Our issue is the new release of nt2000 which of course doesn't like
anything overlly much... We have set up samba 2.2.1a in a new office with
nt2000 machines. We manually joined the machine to the domain for this new
office... REMOTEDOMAIN and for user accounts that are setup
on this remote server nt2000 logs in perfectly... The pa...

I moved my the physical location of files on my file server from a
linux (running Samba) box to a Sun. <Basically rsynced the shares
accross the two boxes> -then exported the shares from the Sun Box
back to the Linux box. Samba never got moved and my NT2000 clients
never had to be reconfigured.... however, every so often an Excel or
word file is getting corrupted... and when loading a file from the
server - the NT clients will freeze.
Once in a while, I can load a problem file as read only, save it
locally and re save back to the network drive ju...
